So. Looks like it's been a while since I've been here. The site has changed a bit. Just came on to add a new favorite show to my list. Will have to check out the site over the weekend. Perhaps I'll check the forum that used to be my favorite and see if there are any interesting posts. Seems like there were too many people posting and had nothing interesting to say...Hope it's changed now. Hate reading junk posts. People talk about a show and they have no clue...ughh.

Decided to start entering my reviews on my blog instead of the actual review area on the show's episode. I don't like the idea of trying to stifle my review into 100 words or less. THAT being said, here is my review of Hell's Kitchen (S5, E2)

I have to start by saying I can't stand that moron, Lacey. She talks a lot of trash but when it comes down to it, she's a whiner. I would have gotten into her face a lot more than Coi did in the first episode. I can't wait for this girl to either get her butt beat or do so badly, that Ramsay lets her have it like a machine gun. I already didn't like her from the first episode and last night didn't help matters. I would have dug into her about how she spent the whole punishment crying like a baby and then after her teammates had done all the work, THEN she decides she's not a quitter after all and that she was going to help her team. I would have ranted on and on about that. There's no way I would let that slide.

Then there is Colleen (COH-lean). Another moron. Ramsay is right...the woman is a thief for robbing the people she took money from for her cooking school. I couldn't believe she left those scallops in the pan to overcook. It's a universally known fact that food in a pan continues to cook even if the heat is off...especially if it's an aluminum pan. You really don't have to have any kind of cooking degree or whatever to know this. Even if you don't or can't cook, common sense will tell you that anyway. For someone who owns a cooking school to not know that, it's just really embarrassing. By the way, overcooking scallops is a sin.

Don't get me started on Robert. I have absolutely no sympathy for his weight. Short of some medical problem that is keeping him overweight (and as far as I remember, there was no mention made of a medical condition), there is no reason for someone to be 400 lbs. When he was summoned to Ramsay's office and told he couldn't go on the helicopter ride to Catalina Island because the helicopter's insurance company wouldn't cover anyone over 400 lbs, I thought it sucked for him. Then he had to open his mouth about how society treats people his size. I hate that. Society did not ask or force you to eat so much to get to the size you are. Again, short of a medical condition that keeps one from losing or maintaining a healthy weight, you can't eat yourself to 400 lbs and then complain about how society treats you. Stop eating so much. If you can't motivate yourself to do it on your own, ask for help. Knowing he was going to have to take the ferry...it was nice to know that he'd at least be able to go with the team. However, yet again, it sucked because he totally missed everything. Robert arrives on the island only to find out Ramsay and the rest of the blue team were ready to take the ferry back. That truly sucked.

I'm not going to get into Ji. I think it was admirable that she chose to tough it out instead of giving up like Lacey. Ji was actually my favorite to win it so I was sorry to see her go. She deserved every word of praise Ramsay gave her. I'm hoping to hear or read somewhere that Ramsay hired her to work for him. She seems to be someone who would be an asset to any kitchen team. I love that Ramsay allowed her to keep her jacket...that was an honour.

On the flip side, Seth's obssesion with all things Ramsay was bordering on "stalker" (as someone pointed out on the show). I'd already yelled out "STALKER!" to my TV seconds before someone said it on the show. I also mentioned it last week. At what point does admiration become so creepy that it's got the potential to reach stalker levels? The fact that he knew what kind of car he drove, what kind of car his wife gave him, and a few other miscellaneous facts, it's technically "pretty useless trivia". In itself, pretty harmless actually. There are other more intimate facts, that if known by Seth, could change that from harmless to keep 911 on one touch speed dial. Either way, Seth is nothing but a brown noser and you can't fool Ramsay. I'm sure he's already figured it out, since day one that Seth is just kissing his butt to get ahead.

That's my opinion for stuff on this episode. As usual, this episode was great. Yet again Ramsay's profanity and ranting have made the show exciting. I only wish this show ran on BBC America (like US version of Kitchen Nightmares) because the only word they will bleep out is the F word. On BBC America, you get to hear Ramsay's profanity as it was intended to be heard. Damm the censors and their bleep of curse words!!! When he rips into these people, it's awesome to watch (and hear). Watching it on FOX...it's just not the same. That's why I'll be purchasing the DVD for season 1 to hear the uncensored audio.

I think this season will be really good. At first, I wasn't crazy about the fact that all the contestants are actually "chefs" in some shape or form. Maybe though, that fact will make the show more interesting. With everyone thinking they're better than the next "chef" there, it should make for some interesting drama this season.

Anyone who knows me knows I am a die hard New York Yankee fan. After leaving my beloved New York for the Sunshine state, the very first thing I had to do was find out if my local cable provider (Brighthouse Networks) offered the MLB package. Even when I was still in New York, I got the package (only after the all star break) so I can enjoy the games of the teams that will be fighting for the playoffs. Even if it turns out NOT to be the Yankees, I love baseball...I just love watching the games.

Brighthouse's price for the package is just under $200. I can pay all at once or spread it out over 4 months. $200. $200. For me, it was well worth every penny just to watch my boys. No matter how much it was, I'd shuffle bill payments around just to be able to pay for the package.

In the past 30 plus years I've been a faithful Yankee fan, I've put up with a lot. In the beginning, I didn't care much who was brought to the team because I just loved to watch the game. As I got older, it started to become important to me how the players carried themselves. Regardless of whether or not they were on the Yankees, I saw some players have no pride when wearing their uniform.

There were players whom I saw as disgraceful...players who thought they were God's gift to the game; egos so huge, it was disgusting to watch them go on about how great they were. It was a complete turn off.

One of the players I hated was Roger Clemens. Not only was he a Red Sox; but I recall a story about how he showed up to spring training late crying about how much money he was making. If I recall correctly, he wasn't satisfied with the amount he was getting so he decided to show up a few days late. This was early on in his career. I want to say his second season but I can't remember for sure. I just remember being disgusted with him and the hate grew from there.

When Steinbrenner decided to go after him, I was upset; but he was good so I just accepted it. There was always something about that guy that I really couldn't stand...I didn't know the guy but he had this way about him during interviews that just rubbed me wrong.

Then there was David Wells, he was a slob. He swore he was in awe of the Yankee tradition...idolized Babe Ruth...but his uniform was too big and he never buttoned up his shirt...clearly slovenly dressed with no respect for the tradition of that uniform. When I worked at McDonald's if you had walked into work on my shift dressed half a$$ed, I'd have sent you home. I could not have sent Wells out there to pitch unless his uniform was worn like everyone else on the team. With Steinbrenner being the dictator he was for many years, I don't understand how Wells got away with it.

Since I've been in Tampa, I've watched a few Rays games but not really caring much because they're not my boys. HOWEVER, I do root for them to do well (not too well) because I'm here now and I should be behind my local team. This year was particularly exciting as you know, they made it all the way to the playoffs. Since my boys weren't able to find a way this year, I found myself watching the Rays and cheering them on to kick Boston's a$$. The Rays grew on me this year. I'd always said that if I wasn't a Yankee fan, I'd have to be an Oriole fan. I really like them; but I think my new second choice will have to be the Rays.

Keeping that in mind, I come to the whole point of this entry.

I read an unsettling article in the New York Daily News about Manny Ramirez. Ex-problem of the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox, Hank Steinbrenner likes Manny. Manny Ramirez. Another slob with no respect for the game or the uniform he gets paid handsomely to play in. A man with an ego so big, it's a wonder to me how the whole team can fit in the dugout at once. Sure, he's a great hitter...scares the bejeezus out of me when he comes up against my boys; but he's so full of himself, it just takes away from the talent he's got. I can't stand the sight of him. I was glad he went to Los Angeles as the one two punch from Ramirez/Ortiz was getting ridiculous already. I never had anything against Ortiz, he's also a great player and I feared his at bats at all times...but seeing him fraternize with Ramirez made me dislike him. Reading Hank's statement that he "likes Manny", is scary. I don't want Manny Ramirez on the Yankees. I don't care how great a player he is, he is a cancer.

I will be watching these developments closely because IF the Yankees should acquire Manny Ramirez during the off season, I will have to dump my Yankees for the Rays. Yes, the 30 plus years of my love affair with the Yankees will have to come to an end. I cannot continue to support a team that is okay with Manny Ramirez. In 3 months I will know if I will need to find $200 to watch the Yankees for the 2009 season or if I can watch the Rays on local TV.
