After giving a lot of time to guess, I figured it'd be time to give out the answer to the riddle. I'm disappointed by the turnout, but I guess it'll make the winner at the end of the year truly deserving of their prize (which is leaning towards three games of their choice).
So here's the answer and the breakdown:
Ikaruga
The lonely warrior flies high in the sky,
This part of the riddle alludes to the back of Ikaruga's box which states, "He is Shinra, the lone survivor of a ravaged people."
Out for revenge, though he's destined to die.
Being the lone survivor of his people, he left the village of Ikaruga in an effort to avenge his people while also taking revenge for his injuries. He is presumed to die because the outlook of his battle is not in his favor.
Enemies' light is life, darkness as well,
Reference to the game's unique "Bullet Eater" system where you have the ability to switch the Ikaruga's polarity to white or black in order to absorb the enemies' bullets.
Choose your side quickly, or doom you will spell.
While the Bullet Eater system is helpful and all, being the opposite polarity allows the Ikaruga to deal twice the damage. But, if you're hit with a bullet of the opposite polarity, you die.
Five chapters make up this fighter's story,
There are only five chapters to play through, that's about it. This is the only line that separates Ikaruga from mariomaniac92's guess of Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.
His tale of self-sacrifice and glory.
At the end of Ikaruga, Shinra ends up meeting the final boss after many struggles throughout the Horai battalion. While the it appears Shinra has the upper hand, the only way to completely destroy the last enemy would be to crash into it. As a result, Shinra dies but the Horai battalion gets eradicated.

Ive been trying to get a copy of that for awhile. So hard to track down... for a sane price.
