Well atleast for now. Street Fighter IV was released this week for consoles, but has been out for about a year in arcades around the world. The franchise is one of the most renowned fighters to be released within the last twenty years and will continue to be so with this successful release. The reception has been positive amongst all reviewers and the players as well. With it being over ten years since Street Fighter III the wait for this couldn't have been any longer, but it was definitely well worth the wait.

This feels right at home with the controls, the cast of familiar and new characters and the different fighting styIes. As usual it's very easy to jump in and have fun with this cIassic, but incredibly hard to master. There are a number of new features and challenges that increase the technicality of Street Fighter IV, at the same time it also gives it a lot more depth and new things to consume your time. I'll go right into the features to give you a sense of what it's like if you've yet to play it. You start off by setting your title and icon which is a personalized persona of your stIye for others to see. Everything is stat tracked by your in-game profile, keeps everything from time played, frequency of character selections and online wins and medals.

The different modes include the arcade, versus, challenge, training and network battle which is the online feature. There's one unique feature that brought back some memories and that's the request option. It allows for other players to join into your arcade mode as a new challenger just like an actual arcade if you have the feature turned on. The challenge mode offers different levels of tasks that range in difficulty and complexity. There's a time trial mode where you must clear a number of fights within a certain amount of time, the twist is you get time bonuses for different techniques used to help out in the painstakingly hard final levels. The survival mode is similar but you're fighting with a single health bar with a limited increase after each win. Each level features different handicaps so it does get hard to keep up the gold medals.

There are 25 fighters in the game and only sixteen are unlocked at the start with the rest being obtained through the arcade mode. The new fighters; Abel, El Fuerte, Crimson Viper, Rufus and Seth are all great additions to Street Fighter IV and just feel natural being added to the mix. The last thing I wanted to touch on is the online. It's as good as SFII Turbo HD Remix that came out on the 360 a few months ago. It's balanced well and with each fight you earn medals depending on certain situations and battle points which determine your opponent in ranked matches as sort of a matchmaking system. Street Fighter IV is incredibly well done and it's possibly the BEST fighter I've played to date, it offers a lot of new and challenging features to make this one of the most relevent fighters of it's generation and it will surely continue to grow stronger and better over the years much like this one.

I'm with carljohnson. There are three games that I want within the next few weeks. I don't think I'll be getting this one.

I have to agree there are quite a few games coming out soon, but SFIV is well worth the money if it's your type of game.

Great summary, it makes me want the game more, but Killzone 2 will be out in about a week. So I am basically left with the option to choose just one, and I do not know what to choose. It is torture debating on which I should purchase.

I really want to get this game and plan on doing so, but not until the price drops due to my lack of funds

Have fun with it!

I heard SFIV was way too hard at some points.

I'm definitely going to be getting this game but not for a while because of the price. I'll probably get it sometime in the summer.

How's the difficulty? I heard that it was impossible.

I want this game even more now. I just want to get more use out of SSFIIHD before buying another Street Fighter! It's going to be tough!

it is a great game

Enemy: That would be a hard choice since KZ2 would be the newer game. It just comes down to preference for the time being, they are two different games.

hazelnutman: It's been great so far, when you get it I'm sure you'll like the game.

Ajarbuckle: The difficulty isn't so much hard it just takes some time to get used to the new features. The only downside is the 360 controller isn't as accurate as a fightstick.

Roslindale: Yeah, I would agree with that. I played SFII HD Remix as much as possible since it's release and finished almost everything to it. Enjoy SFIV when you get it.

SF4 is pretty damn nice I must agree

I played the HD Remix on the Xbox 360 with no problem. But I've been hearing that people are suggesting arcade sticks for Microsoft's console. Primarily for some of the new attacks that have you holding down more then one button. I really want to get this game as well. But I have to choose between MadWorld, Resident Evil 5, Star Ocean 4, and this game.

NeoGen: There are some attacks that would work out better with an arcade stick such as ex combos and cancelling with focus attacks. It doesn't hurt the game, but does make the trial mode extremely hard since it's all precision there.

This game is intriguing to me. I don't really like fighters, but this one seems like it would be the best one to get if I happen to give it a chance.

SFIV looks good, but it's $60 + the price of the arcade pad controller thingy.

Lanezy: You're right about that man. It has a steep learning curve but a lot of the moves are similar to other fighters so when you get one it works for a few others.

Red0584: You don't need to get a fightstick and I've actually seen some that start at about $80 and go as high as $170. It's only recommended if you're a veteran from the arcade days.

I will be picking this up as well as a few other games when I get my life back on track. However the fighter I am truely dying for is Tekken 6. I just hope they dont make severe changes like they do with every tekken that will stray away from what it is all about.
