GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

I have to say it's been quite some time since my last post, it's now a month into the new year and it's been great so far. I've managed to find some time to play some of the games I purchased from before as well as the newest one I added to my collection just last week.

Well I picked up Skate 2 on day one with very high expectations due to the first game. If anyone hasn't played the first one I higly advise that you check it out. To me that game just redefined the genre and perfected the realism that us skaters have always wanted in a game. It had a lot of replayability even after the main story with the online and all the good skate spots in the open city. Playing a game of skate or a few spot battles always kept the game feeling new.

It's been just over a year and Skate 2 is now released. It incorportates everything from the previous installment and adds a lot of new innovative features and game types to the mix to give the players that exact same feeling from when they picked up skate for the first time. I'm impressed by the amount of detail that's in Skate 2. It has more of a realistic look to it whereas the first game had more of an art styIe to it. A number of new tricks to learn to add variety to the game as well the ability to walk around to find spots that were once impossible to reach.

Some of the features that appealed to me after a while were creating your own spots to share with your friends, the freeskate activities and the revamped online game types. I've already managed to make it into the leaderboards as one of the top thousand skaters for ranked jam sessions. You can now invite your friends to your party from the single player and start challenges in a matter of seconds. It's a very enjoyable game for casual and more experienced players alike. There's so much new content in this that I'll be playing this just as much or even more than the first one. If I had to choose between this and skate it has to be a tie.

Dude Skate 2 is awesome, I'm lovin' it. I'm not sure what I like the most, but I'll be writing a review for it soon enough. Maybe we can skate sometime.

I've played the first one. Loved it. I've got high expectations, hoping they will get filled this time around..

For me, since I'm not a real skater, the controls of Skate made the game way too difficult. Don't get me wrong: it was a fun game. I just don't think I'll pick up the second one.

Sammyjenkis: It can get hard at times, a challenge is always better to play though.

Enemy: There's always the freeskate challenges.

Toolzz: It's worth checking out since the price dropped for the first game.

Hazelnutman: It was a great game, but skate is a lot better for this gen.

Djburnzy: I had high expectations for this too and it definitely lived up to it.

Do you have the Xbox 360 version or are you playing on the PS3? My gamertag is ShinRa MP 249. I have some footage up on the ea.skate2 website. Now they give you a option to download your videos instead of opening the source file of the website and looking through all the html for the flash video file. I was still playing the original Skate consistently over the past year. I think I'll do the same this time.

I can't even skate in the video game world! lol, I do the like the realism though, pulling of grinds and other tricks feels more real than say in the past tony hawk games.

Msudude: They were hard to get used to in the first game at first, the new tricks give it that same challenge this time around.

NeoGen85: I'm playing it on the 360 right now. I watched your skate montage yesterday, quite good. I just may have to make one as well.

Volcomstoner: There's a lot of them too so I'm up for getting them done. I've also just been skating the city, haven't done too many challenges though. Finding new spots to skate and all the own the spots have kept me busy so far.

Ajarbuckle: The realism was the hook to get me to first try it. In past TH games I would occasionally turn auto-kick off and go skate some stair sets to make it feel authentic.
