I am not sure whether or not I should've been aware that this is one part in a multimovie story, but the fact is I wasn't. I was expecting one and a half hour of thrill and teleportation and got way less than I expected.


Sure, it looked badass. Certainly not something you see every day. The special effects are phenomenal, the story weak and filled with plotholes, ah whatever.

You either love this movie or you don't. Terms such as originality do not apply to this movie. You can't judge it for not being something it's not trying to be. The movie's purpose is to provide a thrilling experience akin to a rollercoaster. A rollercoaster that does nothing but pull corkscrews. It succeeds per definition, but whether you like this form of excitement is wholly dependent on perspective. Yes, the "Monster Attacks City" story has been done plenty of times, but not like this. The handycam method is perfected from its use in The Blair Witch Project, and it does not just serve to make things pretty. It's an active part of the cinematic experience and it effectively succeeds in pulling the viewer into the story.

Words aren't going to change anything, they aren't going to convince someone to watch or not watch the movie, and if they do they undermine the entire concept of Cloverfield. The movie is a **** but only so you can see whether or not you will appreciate this new genre of film.

Yet when I finally got off my lazy butt to watch this socalled masterpiece, did I feel fooled. It's terrible. The special effects are to cry for. Honestly, did they budget the CGI part cause the movie was going to sell anyhow? If you were to watch the first Toy Story now, you'd love it, but you'd had to admit the CGI sucks for this day and age. Well, TMNT is even worse, and it's ten years older!
The story itself might have been nice had it been a classic animation film. It's just another TNMT story. I mean, honestly, it's much more enjoyable to see them in a classic animation movie or in a live action one.
This wasn't necessary.

Not that that is difficult to accomplish, since the previous movies weren't all that awesome. They might be nice if you've never read the books, but they're going to be a huge letdown if you have. They were for me. This movie especially has a knack for leaving things out, and shortening other factors in. Even changing some major events. Cho Chang did not rat on Dumbledore's Army, George and Fred's escape from Hogwarts should have been much more fireworkish, and the final battle was nothing like in the books. No, Sirius did not get cursed by the death spell. This. Is. A. Lie. To put it the way Umbridge likes to put it.
But aside from all these complaints, it's always great to see Hogwarts, and to see other aspects of the book come to live. Albeit in a somewhat altered state.

It really isn't all that great of a movie, but if you've read the books and watched every other Harry Potter movie, this is part of the routine. Can't miss it.

Wouldn't exactly say all the hype was justified, it's not the next Godfather, but damn, this movie sure was sweet.

These are the best special effects I have ever seen. Star Wars is nothing compared to it, even though those movies are already a couple of years old. Moviewise this isn't really anything out of the ordinary. But the nostalgic feelings me and many others felt when we saw Bumblebee for the first time, or when Optimus showed his face. Even during the final showdown, these are inexplicable. The movie won't be near as amazing to someone who didn't grow up surrounded by Transformers of all shapes and sizes. But even the most selfproclaimed girly feminist will be delighted by this movie. The visual splendour is undeniable.

It'll be worth watching for anyone, and you are going to enjoy it, even when you're prejudiced. The level of joy you are going to feel is however influenced by your own personal connection to the entire Transformers hype.

Better than I expected.

At first I was under the impression that this was some freaky Asian science fiction movie. I mean, there is a movie with a similar name who belongs to that genre. So on a long boring sunday I finally decided to venture into the world of this movie. Samuel L Jackson turned out to play a small part in this movie, and you can never go wrong with everyone's favourite token black guy. This movie pleasantly surprised me. It's nothing astounding, but the creepy factor prevails through the second half of the movie. The moment he enters room 1408 is the moment you move to the edge of your seat for the rest of the movie. Not counting the several times you fall off. The acting is nothing out of the ordinary. Samuel puts down an amazing display, and that guy who plays the main character (Forgot his name, sue me), manages to portay his character accurately. Believe me when I say that this movie is worth watching. You won't be disappointed.

Showing a clear development in the main character, and a certain stagnation in that of her friends. The movie shows you that there is no clear distinction between right and wrong.

Let me start by saying that the acting was just awful. I know this movie shouldn't be judged on the acting, because it's focused on hot women and just as spicy moves, but the several times it did attempt to be serious, it failed horribly.

But lets put ourselves past that. This was not a complete waste of time. Like I said, the fighting moves were nice, even though they tried to make it as unrealistic as possible, the action was still extremely enjoying. Then there's Devon Aoki's face. Honestly, if you're going to build your movie around hot chicks, don't cast Devon Aoki. I don't know what happened to her face but I felt nice.

Very much ahead of its time.


28 Days Later holds the title of being one of the most innotative and compelling horror movies of recent times. It's more than brainless bloodthirsty raging zombies. It's a story about family, about love, about sticking together when times get rough.

Just kidding. It's all about the action, and the action is just fine. It does not get the upperhand like in many movies, but the suspense created by the excellent camera work and the brilliant acting by nameless actors, is enough to blow your mind away.

This is all fine and dandy. But the one thing that manages to set 28 Days Later apart from the rest of the horror scene is the location. Gotta love an empty London. Takes the smell away.

300 is not a good movie in the strict sense of the word. The story, based on some longforgotten myth, is not the main focus of the film. Certain themes present in the movie, like that of betrayal, pretend to play a significant role, but are rather pointless.

The movie should be judged on the action, nothing else. It was made for the action. Based on the action, worked on the action. The special effects are unlike any other.

The actors aren't very proficient in their acting, but I believe you can't even really call them actors. The only purpose they serve is to look tough and kick some serious ass.


The movie definitely succeeded in terms on achieving its goals, too bad not many agree with me.

You know how sequels generally show less quality than their predecessors. It's a rule of thumb, really. Not in this case.

Hot Fuzz is as excellent as Shaun of the Dead, it's even much better most of the time. The quasi serious tone the characters carry around in their behaviour goes well with the semi serious type of humour.

Add to that the genious Slowpoke expression on the main character's face, and there is no way this movie can flop.


I loved it. Definitely one of the better movies we've seen recently. Far from pretentious, this is a comedy goldmine.

When I started watching this movie I had no clue who was starring in it. If I had known about Halle Berry and Bruce Willis I would have never considered turning the movie off somewhere in the beginning. The script is nothing out of the ordinary. This movie is like a standard procedure performed by two excellent doctors on a patient with limited chance of survival.

Honestly, this movie wasn't special. It wouldn't have been worth the two hours had it not been for these two top actors. Bruce Willis can never go wrong, and Halle Berry in the lead role is always a pleasure to look at. The rush towards the end of the story was disturbingly awful though. The writers appeared to be desperately tying up all the loose ends the story had, and thrown in some plot twists at the same time.

It's one of those cheap tricks where even though the movie sucked, the nice ending made you feel like it was worth watching.

I won't be fooled again.

Night at the Museum is a cheap comedy movie. Yes, it's got Ben Stiller, and yes, Ben Stiller is funny. He is funny no matter where he goes and what he does. The guy is great, no doubt about it.

So is the entire concept of the movie. A museum where everything comes to life ones the day crew leaves. I bet that even you has wondered, at one point or another, what happens to your toys when you leave the room. Or even your furniture!

Night at the Museum is an accurate representation of what I thought would be going on at those times when I was a little kid, that is why I enjoyed the movie.

Truth be told, the fact that this is only fun to me because it reminds me of when I was little, just tells me how this is a movie clearly dedicated to the younger ones in the audience. And they clearly succeed in that aspect, but even as a comedy movie, the movie fails to deliver to anyone who thinks of themselves as grown up.

I think we can all agree that Shrek the Third is just a second attempt to make some good money thanks to the success of the original Shrek, which really was a good movie.

It was innovative and groundbreaking in the animation industry. People loved Shrek, and people still do. Shrek the Third is still a jewel of an animation movie, but the special touch the first one carried with it has disappeared.

Shrek the Third is just plain, old good fun. It does not venture in unknown territories, it does not break any new ground. Hey, it doesn't even have an original story.

But none of this is necessary because people will love Shrek, Fiona, and the rest of the gang regardless of whether the script is excellent or the movie carries a strong morale message with it. Nobody cares. People just want to have a good time while watching a fun movie. Shrek the Third provides.

Feeble attempt at creating good horror. I wouldn't even classify this as a real horror film, it's more of a scary movie. The concept behind the movie is a frightening one, but once worked out, didn't manage to get and keep me on the edge of my seat. Then again, being afraid is a very subjective experience. The movie shows an adequate buildup in events, even though it does so by rehashing a formula guaranteed to work time after time. Scary movies like these do not need to be complicated. A few dead bodies, a lot of suspense, and near-death scenarios are enough to make anything like this a success. I have to say that I was at first reluctant to watch this movie. Luke Wilson never really appealed to me, which is probably due to the acting nature of his brother. My prejudices were completely blown away after watching Vacancy. Even though he sports the classic Wilson look everywhere he goes, he portrays his part of the stillinlove protective husband very well!

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is kinda like part one. Where the prequel had to introduce every character, describe and show us how they became what they now are, the sequel could soldier on on what we already knew.

This means more action. Much more action. And loads of completely ridiculous plot-arcs. Devourer of worlds? Are you kidding me or what? Pyro boy being able to absorb everyone's powers? I mean, let's be honest. If you're the silver surfer, would you give your adversary nifty abilities like that?

Ah well. It was nice to see block guy's face again, or Jessica Alba naked. And that final fight was bloody awesome.

The movie got a tad bit sentimental at times. I am not one that adores these melancholic moments, and were I watching this on TV, I'd change the channel.


Apart from the nonsensical content, I enjoyed this movie as it is. A cheap action flick!

The entire movie was a cinematographic masterpiece. I have heard a lot about how Fingerling's world looked a lot like Sin City. Almost bordering on sheer obtrusive imitation. But that shouldn't be a reason to hate the movie. Better to steal a good aspect than to think of an awful one all by yourself.

This little bit of stolen artwork, down to the shade of darkness covering the world, makes for a damn fine half of a movie. Such a shame the other half let a little to be desired.

I would have liked the movie more had it taken place more in Fingerling's world, it's the fantasy aspect that makes this more than a B-film. There isn't much to say about the movie itself. The acting was done decently, Jim Carey finally proved what he is capable of, though only a little. The ending of the movie was disturbingly awful.

Let's just leave it at the biggest anti climax in a while.

Not the best one so far, but definitely the most enjoyable.

I am saying this because no matter how many new crew members Ocean takes on, it's not going to be enough to beat the original eleven.

Unlike its predecessor, Ocean's 13 goes back to its roots. Las Vegas. And don't we all agree that Las Vegas is the city where all the magic happens?

I don't have much to say about the cast. Each one of them has already proven himself numerous of times in other movies, which is why it's not so bad that due to the sheer number of actors none of them are able to come to their full right in this movie.

The main aspect, which, in my opinion makes this movie the gem that it is, is the colour palette. The use of colours takes you back to the past, adding a dynamic ambiance to the film.

A great example of the golden rule describing how the second part in a trilogy has to suck.

The reason Ocean's 12 didn't appeal to me, and I think a lot of other people, was that it was so very different from Ocean's 11. We've still got the killer cast, but the setting has changed.

Ocean's 11 wasn't just about robbing a rich guy of his expensive belongings. Las Vegas made it special. The essence of Las Vegas was so well incorporated in the movie's story and air that it became one of the greatest movies in its genre.

Ocean's 12, sadly, takes place all over the place. From Amsterdam to some rich man's villa in France, or some other hot, arid country. Ocean's 12 didn't turn out the way I hoped it would.

Las Vegas, the city of everything I love about America. It has the ability to provide a good setting for any movie, and Ocean's 11, being set in a casino, was naturally going to kick ass.

Mark Wahlberg. That, I think, should tell you all you need to know about this movie.

It tries to go indepth into the character's personality. His relationship with his deceased friend, and his friend's grieving girlfriend. You know, trying to pass on that message of taking care of your own.

Not only does it do that, but it also tells you war is bad. The 'war' fought at the beginning of this movie turns out to be orchestrated by some private security company looking for some quick cash. Now if they actually did assassinate the president, this would've been an anti-america film, but the president lived, so now it's just an action movie.

You're average action movie, just with thrice the explosions, now with extra spunk. Mark Wahlberg has a sidekick, who, surprisingly, isn't black but latino. Either way it fits in the movie stereotype where the black guy is the sidekick. Getting kindas tired of aspects like this.


To be honest, I really did enjoy this movie. I love action, whether it is worked out perfectly or just simple BANGS and BOOMS. Thinking makes me realize how much this movie sucked, and that hurts my head.

Bright colours, good special effects, a decent dose of actions, classic superheros, and Jessica Alba make this movie eyecandy for its time.

Sure, the standard themes of accepting you no matter who you are make a cameo appearance, but who really cares about that?

You watch Fantastic Four because it's the next hot thing. It is now 2007, and anyone who hasn't seen it yet probably isn't going to watch it ever. They're going to see its sequel.

At first sight I honestly thought this was going to be just another cheapskate horror movie trying to act cool even though it's a nerdy kid with aviator sunglasses. Just look at the cover, I don't even know what on EARTH is going on there.

Not to mention the first part of the movie, which aside from being confusing didn't really add anything to the overall story. Her dad, her daughter, well they don't really play any role besides being referenced to in dialogues which don't add to the movie at all.

I couldn't really follow the story, but then again I was multi-tasking. Writing essays and whatnot. From what I understood the movie is pretty complicated, not so surprising because it really tries to be. Hilary Swank's face can hardly be called complicated though, since she's only got one expression.

The visuals were droolworthy. Once or twice I went, wtf this is cheap, but most of the time I was blown away by the visual arts. They really did a good job there!


Oh, and there's this plot twist at the end which I really didn't see coming. But I'm not the brightest of people, so you know, it's probably obviously obvious.

Kind of sitting inbetween parts one and two. Because, you know, we unanimously agreed that Saw was amazing. The same (kinda) goes for us agreeing how much part two sucked, especially in comparison to the first installment.

But then again, the sequels are always the worst in a trilogy. Saw II depended too much on the torturing of people, whereas Saw blew my mind because of the suspense and the characters involved. Saw III tried to find a perfect balance, and it somewhat succeeded. In an attempt to create more suspense and "Ooohs!" and "Aaahs!" from the crowd they threw in some notso unexpected plot twists in at the end, and they actually put some time in deciding how and who were going to be tortured this time. I especially found the cold chick very disturbing. And drowing in grind down dead cows, that must reaaally suck.


Enfin, the movie was far from brilliant, but enjoyable nontheless. And, well, the very ending, let's just say I am looking forward to part four!
