My nephew just turned 18. A skinny young boy, Still got a baby face.

Ever since he was young, he loved FPS's and war games. He'd play for hours on multiplayer on his Xbox, killing his opponents, and getting killed himself. Everytime he died, he'd respawn or wait for the next match.

As he got older, he started with paintball. He and several of his friends would go out into the nature to play war games. He would tell me stories of pretending to be Rambo, firing paintballs all over the place, while getting pelted with the opponents paintballs.
He'd tell me, its's fun to shoot and be shot at! You get shot, just lay down and pretend to be dead for a little while, then it's back up for a new game.

He signed up for the U.S. Marines. He will report to a base somewhere in Texas before the end of the year.

The U.S. Marines is not a game. If you get killed, you are dead. No respawn. No washing the paint off your clothes and getting back into the game. It's GAME OVER. Permanently.

Now, looking back, I feel so bad playing those games with him. If I could go back in time, I'd make him play Monopoly and Chess.

While it may be fun to play and kill eachother in a game, it still is just a game. The problems begin when you think you got what it takes to go to a real war, based on your skills in a game.

I'm starting to think, and you guys are going to hate me for this, that all games simulating war and killing should be reserved for all over the legal age. Way over the legal limit.

Minors, put away Modern Warfare 2, and play Scrabble with your Mom and Dad.

Leave war and killing for mature adults, pretty please....

Pumpkin

Wishing you all a happy Halloween!

I will be spending it with my wife, and we are going out of town for the weekend!
Most probably to Austin.

The original plan was to go to New Orleans, but I have to go work friday night, so, doesnt give me enough time to drive to New Orleans, but Austin is hopefully a good choice.

What about you guys? Any plans?

The evil TAG monster finally reached me, and he was sent here by JunglemanchiId.

So now I gotta put up 10 facts about me, and Im one of those guys trying to be secretive. So here goes.

1 - Im turning 32 next month, and some days I wonder if its time to give up gaming and grow up.

2 -I was born in Norway, but have lived in Texas for the past 10 years.

3 - I hate my job. Some days it's OK, but usually I hate it.

4 - Im a big fan of country music ( I live in Texas, remember! )

5 - According to the political compass website, Im a fullfledged communist. That quite doesnt fit with my political beliefs. So in my opinion, that website is broken/flawed.

6 - Some of my political beliefs would make you cringe. Enough said.

7 - I am not a very religious person, but I do respect other peoples beliefs, as long as they don't talk a hole in my ear about it, or try to impose their will due to their religious beliefs.

8 - I love cartoons, especially those for a more mature audience, such as American Dad and Family Guy.

9 - For Halloween I want to dress up as Dr. Salvatore, from RE 4. Just gotta get some gas for my chainsaw.

10 - I have a beautiful dog, which always makes my day. After a long day at work, I always take her out for a walk, and it always lifts my spirits.

I tag,

Some people just don't have opinions. Like Spotty_Bug.
Spotty_Bug must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could Spotty_Bug possibly have for not rating a single film?
