anyway i thought i'd share some pics i took with my cellphone (as usual) over the last year or so about the area around me.
*You may need to scroll to the right to view them fully
The first one is from my friend's house, around 2-4 mins walk away from my house. it was taken on 5 may 2005 (springtime) and it faces north.

This one is also in the same place but on 28 April 2005 (facing east)

This one was taken a minute after the last one (facing northeast)

This one is from a mountain (or hill) called Harissa. It is a place where christians from all over Lebanon make a pilgrimage there every year. (The following pic faces northwest)

Also from Harissa but facing north

i suck at photography
there was once a dream...
...and that dream grew and spread through time...

....its edges sharpened...

...its peoples unified...

...under one flag...a flag that contained the poor and the rich, the strong and the weak, the 18 sects of lebanon...
...the peoples of lebanon lived peacefully and propered, lebanon was one of the wealthiest countries in the region...
BUT ![]()
everyone else was jealous... how could these peoples live together as one? how could christians and muslims co-exist? how could they prosper like us? ...if they continue like this they might pose a threat to us... WE MUST CRUSH THEM...
...so several nations plotted against the unified people, they started working, planting spies, dividing each part for their own, they built up the tension, they introduced foreign armies and peoples... and then it happened.........................................the first shots went up in the air.... and Lebanon imploded on its peoples.
but that's another story![]()
1990/1991 . 15 years later, the peoples signed a deal, ending the war, it was known as the Taef Agreement. but that agreement didn't unite the peoples again... and they were now ruled by outside forces, that were determined not to unite these peoples again... these forces chose Syria, which was one of them, to rule lebanon....
2004/2005 . 15 years after the war ends, Syria has imposed a security rule over lebanon. it's spies are planted everywhere...cookie sellers...traffic police...president...everywhere.... But some new people started to pose a threat to them, aside from their old enemies inside lebanon. The Hariri and Junblat coalitions stood against keeping the syrian-controlled president for another 4 years. junblat's ally was nearly killed, but hariri was killed. they had done it, now the majority was against them....oops.... and out they went...
but after their retreat, each party/sect started to take things their own way... they wanted to control. THEN MICHEL AOUN CAME BACK.
for 15 years he was in France in exile by the syrians... he had been the army commander of lebanon, and made a war against the syrians back int 1989... he vows now to end corruption and heal the country.... the third part of the elections were a victory for him. He now has 15 members of the parliament... and more might come from the north... so let us celebrate
O MIGHTY PEOPLE OF LEBANON
and so i leave you with this...
