I thought I should do a blog of some of the things I hate around this time of year. Year in and year out I've always been annoyed by most of these things ever since I was a child growing up.

1. Like some of you all may know, I live in the Caribbean and we have 2 seasons, a dry and wet. I really love the wet season because the heat does calm down a bit when it rains but it is often just too humid and it's sometimes just as bad as the hot climate.

2. With the increase in rain, there's an increase of creepy crawlies and they have a habit of invading my house. These include snakes, centipedes, millipedes, lizards and frogs...lots of frogs...multiple varieties. The most annoying frogs are the tree frogs which come through the windows and into the rooms. They are harmless, but extremely annoying.

3. With the increase in rain, I sometimes have to wash my car multiple times a week.

4. I hate day light savings time! Why? Because we don't use it here and most of our TV programs come from the US. Therefore all programs now start 1 hour later!

5. I hate overspending money for the holidays

6. I hate going shopping or even going out during this time. There's just too much traffic, places are overcrowded and finding a parking place is an utter nightmare.

7. The holidays always bring family and friends together, but sometimes it can get annoying when there are little untrained children running about the place making a mess that I would have to clean up later and I have little to no privacy. It's like "what does this button do?" or "why is that guy shooting the other guy"

8. For whatever reason throughout the years power has a habit of going regularly during this time.

9. All the 'birth of Christ' and Christian preaching really gets under my skin because I consider myself an atheist and I hate it when people try to shove their beliefs down your throat.

10. Delays in shipping. I do a lot of online ordering and most of the times, my stuff arrives in the country on time, but with the extra flow of packages this time of year it sometimes takes additional days to process and inspect them.

Wow! I actually got 10. I was aiming for 5 but whatever.

Holidays can be such a pain in the ass, so I don't blame you. I like the holiday season and all, but at times, it's all a pain.

I couldn't take the frogs and snakes. I'd have to move.

Holidays are annoying, and children roaming around not leaving you alone are certainly a bother. I also am atheist and as I won't go trying to make everyone else one, I expect that respect for my non-belief back. As for the frogs, that doesn't seem too too bad.

You should sell them at 100 a piece!

Try not to think about all the stuff that bothers you and instead try and focus on the positive aspects of this time of year.

I feel ya,except for number 9.I'm not a christian either, but i celebrate Christmas.Christmas is a Christian Holiday. It celebrates Jeusus Christ's Birth,so they can shove abit of religion down my throat if I'm celebrating their holiday.

the best I can think of to do right now is wish you "Happy Holidays"

I also have wet and dry times of year instead of the regular seasons - just not so extreme but I remember from the Philippines how bad they can get and I am glad I don't have to put up with that.

I live in Northeastern Oklahoma and the weather here changes day to day and I know what you mean when it comes to the "creepy crawlies", but I also get raccoons, squirrels, skunks, rabbits, and other animals of the what ex-girlfriend called the "Kill it, Kill it, Kill it" variety.

This time of year has it's downsides but I still love it

i love the holidays lol.. however i dont think i could put up with all those creepy crawlers you mentioned
Posted Nov 6, 2009 2:28 am PT
WOW! some of them r familiar to me!!!

Haha no one seems to be happy about the climate where they stay - I'm in Scotland so we have a freezing cold and rainy season, and a slightly less freezing cold and rainy season I'd love to stay somewhere warmer!

I would LOVE the frogs too- I'd probably wind up feeding them and encouraging them to come and live in my house! Not too sure about the centipedes though, they've got a nasty bite don't they?

As for the car... I wash mine about twice a year because I know it's just going to get dirty again pretty soon I've given up trying to keep it looking all shiny and new - it's black too so that's the hardest colour to keep clean!

And I know what you mean about number 9, my whole family is atheists so my dad gets really angry when people start going round door to door bothering everyone. He usually tells them we're all Satanists and that he's going to get his shotgun if they don't leave pretty sharpish You should see their faces! (for the record, he doesn't actually have a shotgun lol)

Wow even living there you can't escape the pains of the holidays lol.

I really agree with you on 5 thru 10. Why do relatives not show respect for you by controlling there kids?? The traffic brings out more Crazed drivers. I really havent tested the shipping theory but I can see it happening. OH and dont get me started on the CHRISTIAN thing. People think things are magical because we are all suppose to be nice to each other, but UM HEY!! shouldnt we be nice to each other everyday? That is what most religions preach right?! Anyway good list.

The only couple of things I hate this time of year is the snow storms and the amount of games that get released that I just simply can't afford.
Posted Nov 6, 2009 8:49 am PT
Sanke get into your house?!
Posted Nov 6, 2009 9:19 am PT
I..........hate...........centipedes-_-. They're just creepy.
Posted Nov 6, 2009 1:49 pm PT
"These include snakes, centipedes, millipedes, lizards and frogs"

My condolences. I can't stand centipedes and millipedes. I don't think the snakes/lizards/frogs would bother me too much, but then again you live in the Caribbean. I don't know what they're like there
I also agree with #9. Even as a Christian, I hate when people force their beliefs on you >.>

At least they're not posionous frogs. What car are you driving ?

I live in the Pacific Northwest and we also get alot of rain... but fortunately for us it is not humid here. I also was unaware that your area of the world didn't use daylight savings time and can see how that could be very frustrating.

@Pixy64 - A silver Mazda 323. I think it's a 2003 or 2004 model

@ Gallego - I can sell you some at discounted prices. Buy 10 and get 1% off the 11th

@ Dinkyfish - Actually the Centipedes in this region are mostly the large poisonous type. Most of them are a few inches to a foot long.

@ N-REAL - A mazda 323. I believe it's a 2003 or 2004 model.

The creepy, crawly things don't sound too good.I always thought that area in which you live sounded really cool to live in.Guess each area has it's problems.

I guess my advise to you would be to watch your spending and order early.Don't let outside forces bring you down.
Posted Nov 7, 2009 9:31 pm PT
I'd suggest to try listing positive things

The whole shipping issue must be a local thing. By me, it seems like things get shipped quicker around holiday time. Also, frogs + lizards + SNAKES = HELL NO!
Posted Nov 9, 2009 5:52 am PT
Lol number 9 was a win.
