*some spoilers*
The movie starts out very well, with a good description of what Spartan children must go through in order to actually become a Spartan man. I won't give away the story too much, but the movie is basically tied into the whole "do not forget the 300" concept. However, its not all about war and violence in this movie, since you do get to see whats going on at the Spartan capital once and while, detailing the politics of why these 300 have gone to battle without the gods' support. However, if I wish to be truly critical about the political part, I would have to say that it was more thrown than something that was planned. Still, I don't think I do, since the part really did add to the richness of the movie. So what about the presentation of the film? this was really amazing. If you want a very basic idea, it would be "Sin City meets Troy," but it is so much more. The thing I had to laugh about in the movie was that writers must have forgotten a thesaurus, because most of the movie had people yelling "Blasphemy!" and then everyone started killing each other. I do like that when the king yelled those famous lines from the previews, they were at the right moment, unlike the Snakes on a Plane's famous lines. Still, Snakes on a Plane is incomparable to this movie in all ways.
Anyways, I give the movie a 4 out of 5. It was a great movie, but its a tad overhyped for what it is.
