My budget has just been gifted with an additional 40 bucks or so this month, by virtue of gas prices dropping like a rock. On the fourth of July when gas peaked at $4.26 here I don't even know what it cost to fill my tank, because I honestly couldn't afford to try it out. At this time last month it cost me $40 bucks to fill my tank. Friday when gas was $2.16, I filled it from fumes to fullfullfull for $29.

Now that it's dropped to $1.97 it'll be even a little less! You know that's a cumulative drop in less than six months of $2.29! Incredible.

This is a huge relief. Long may it continue.

One bright spot about the sagging economy is dropping gas prices, that's for sure.

I filled my tank for about $35 earlier today.

I'd like the world to fix my portfolio next, now that gas prices are much better.

Awesome, now it needs to go down another $2 and everthing will be great!

Not going to last. It's a short term turnaround to a long term problem. And with the worthless wretches we have in congress, it's only going to get worse. We have to get used to the fact that our cars are not energy efficient and our destinies are being dictated by countries who hate us. We need to let the Big Three go bankrupt (which will kill off all the unions) and then let a company come in and start over. Meanwhile, imports will serve us just fine. All this nonsense of the economy collapsing if one or all of the Big Three go under is just union propaganda. Unfortunately, the unions own the Democrats, so this means that Barack is going to be giving the companies bail out money (no matter how little they or their inefficient, lazy workers deserve it) whether he likes it or not. The party will NOT allow him to jeapardize the union vote lockdown they have.

I agree. I never thought I would see $1.anything ever again. I even bought breakfast for my car pool because I was so happy to see it. Now if only the rest of the economy wasn't tanking too I would be in heaven.

It will not last. And Australia is still paying substantially more.

I've also seen it going for an euro per liter here. Fortunately as a carless person, I don't need to worry about such things

I was flabbergasted at the price, then realised you guys deal in gallons.

The Stonecutters must stop holding back the electric car. Mr. Fusion!

It was $1.74 here at one place yesterday. It really is crazy to think that we were paying more than double that not but a couple of months ago...

That's a relief. I've been forced by financial restraints to drink water recently, but now I can afford a drink with a little 'pep'. I'll alert my local emergency award

Don't panic, it won't be too long before they soon go back up again, never fear. In the UK, we aren't having anywhere near as good a price fluxuation.

incredible - the same prices I just encountered - Paid 1.97 in Rocklin this afternoon down from the 4 dollar range this summer and the high threes not too long ago but a steady drop until the low 2 dollar area last month.

Big diff over the last half year.

without the unions we would be in better shape - Blakely - the market will pay according to what they are worth - they big three are now charging 2600 PER auto now because they are going broke to pay the excessive wages and perks demanded by the union workers who are getting paid for much more than they deserve.

That is why korean and Japanese auto companies made such an inroad. They charge bout 1/10 as much per car to pay for their wages.....it is simple efficiency.

The unions are simply killing the American auto makers....and it must stop .... non union trucking companies for example run at a lower cost and make more money.

I worked for both and the governement - the government is the least efficient outfit around, not a surprise to anyone.

A little extra to help pay off debts and add to the savings account.

Meanwhile, the rest of America is switching back to their Hummers and Suburbans.
