ok, so many of you might be asking, how in the world can a pansy such as Raiden even be in the same league as Big Boss!? Well, theres more to Raiden than meets the eye my friend.
MGS3 - If you've beaten MGS3, then you know of the tragic relationship between The Boss and Naked Snake. The Boss, the greatest soldier that America(edit: The WORLD!) has ever seen. Naked Snake, trained by the best, and survived the test(over and over again). Although he had no battle experience when it came to jungle warfare before The Virtuous Mission, he proved to be quite usefull to his government official's (as well as The Boss, who's connection to the US exceeded that of Big Boss).
MGS2 - Now lets examine MGS2's similarities. For one, Raiden has never been in a real life mission before the Big Shell(keyword: mission). He was however, trained in over hundred's of VR mission's. Is it starting to click yet? But VR mission's was not the only training he received. The best training that Raiden received in his life was by Solidus Snake when he was young. Solidus took everything away from Raiden. Which i find ironic since The Boss' relationship with Naked Snake was the complete opposite of Raidens and Solidus.
Now lets take a look at Raidens mentor; Solidus Snake. He was actually the president of the United States for a short time. Went by the alias of George Sear's. He later resigned (atleast, thats what the media thought), and went into deep underground hiding. And later surprised the hell out of The Patriots with the Big Shell incident when he sided with suppoused Terrorist( Dead Cell). The Boss went through similiar treatment. She was the 1st human to be sent to the moon, years later, is unseen for about 3 years (suppousably she was in a huge confidential mission). After she comes out of hiding, the US government finds that she has sided with the USSR, and has blown up a research facility using the US' own portable nuclear missle (The Davy Crocket). I know, it freaked me out too.
Solidus Snake, third son to be born of the Les Enfant Terribles Project. He was endowed with a masterful balance of both dominent, and recessive genes, leading to be the perfect clone. In a sense, Solidus is Big Boss. So for Raiden to be trained by this legendary soldier is 100% comparable to The Boss training Naked Snake. Think of it this way, The Boss was the ultimate soldier before the turn of the 20th century, followed by Big Boss, and later we see the new "reincarnation" of the new ultimate soldiers, none other than the 3 Snake clones. The legacy of Big Boss continues in Solid, Liquid's, and Solidus' gene's. But clones dont live forever, so who's next to take the legendary soldier status. You should already know the answer to that one.
We all know the side-effects of cloning, rapid aging and, well....rapid aging! Due to this problem, Solidus Snake was "dethroned" long before Solid and Liquids death (Liquid's death is debatable). He aged faster than the other 2. And it was a good thing too. He trained Raiden just in time in order for him to atleast be next to our hero Solid Snake (admit it). How can anyone deny the huge similarities between the two final battles in MGS3 and MGS2? The Boss vs. Naked Snake contained much emotion. That emotion, was later revived in the heat of Raiden's and Solidus' sword fight. The Patriots, just like the US government back in the 60's, told Raiden to kill his (wait for it) Step Father, told Naked Snake to kill his beloved mentor. Naked Snake felt betrayed by his government, the honor and loyalty of a soldier was non-existent after Snakes final encounter with The Boss. Raiden on the other hand, was locked in a paradox. He hated Solidus with all his heart after he told him about his grueling past, Raiden wanted him dead. BUT, The Patriots wanted Raiden to do this from the beginning, and Raiden didnt want any part in helping The Patriots. Like i said, Raiden was locked in a paradox.
And now we move to MGS4. The big daddy of them all. With Raiden now officially known as "Cyborg Raiden", i cant help but also think of, you guessed, Gray Fox, Cyborg Ninja, Deepthroat,.......Frank..Jaeger. Trained by Big Boss himself, oh come on! You should already know that Big Boss training Jaeger = Solidus' training Raiden!!!
So are you still asking your self how in the world can a pansy such as Raiden even be in the same league as Big Boss? Yea...i thought so....

Intresting but still very strange but we will see in MGS 4 (My theory is that Liquid is clone of Ocelot ) so we will see who was right...

maybe the part of the trailer where snake put the gun in his mouth could possibly tie in with the metal gear movie?
depending if the movie will be based on one of the games, or will it be an entirely different story, tying up all of these loose ends?
hopefully hideo kojima will make some sort of plot twist with the end of mgs4, i seriously hope so, whats gonna happen with this series then?
what do we do, rely on ac!d, or do we turn to big boss or remakes?
i don't even think kojima knows, although i hope if/when snake shoots himself, there will be something wrong and the bullets he has been firing from it through the entire story have been coated in a very thick oil like substance or something which slows down the propulsion of the bullet, thus making a nonfatal shot, if not this exactly (most probably not this) then something else, which makes the shot nonfatal

I want to know the deal with the young snake and why raiden wears the cyborg suit now. Other than the obvious fact of fans reactions and his need of cool points.

"Your an idiot" Hey I got proofs but first I will send it to konami

Sorry don't mean to offend you but hes obviously not a clone. Les Enfant Terribles Project consisted clones of Big Boss, Solid Snake, Liquid and Solidus. Duh....

cell i was playing metal gear and liquid told snake that only 2 clones surived wich means solidus might not actually b a clone of big boss?
Posted Mar 7, 2007 4:49 pm PT
no that means that solidus could of been part of a side project of lefant blah blah

I'll be really superficial and just say that people doubt Raiden because he sounds and moves like a pansy in MGS 2. However, when you watch the Japanese trailer for MGS 4 Ninja Raiden sounds and moves like a beast, with that deep scary voice and those crazy ninja moves. I was disappointed to see that they hired the same person to do Raiden's voice in the American version—hopefully they will put some kind of distortion on it. But I see waht you are saying about the parallels and convergence between Raiden's and Snake's training. It just makes me wonder whether Kojima's trying to build up Raiden to mave him into the spotlight, since his stories are so character driven.

Interesting theory, but it actually sounds far from the truth. Why do I say this? Well, let me think maybe because Solidus may not be a clone of Big Boss, seeing of how they said 7 of the 9 babies were aborted. Even if Solidus was the perfect clone of Big Boss, there is still a flaw in that. Solidus didn't have the same experiences as Big Boss, or the techniques that he was taught by The Boss. Even if Solidus being the perfect clone of Big Boss, doesn't mean that he inherit everything from BB. Not to mention, that yeah when Naked Snake (BB) in MGS3 and Raiden in MGS2 were on their first mission. There is the fact that BB was sent to a jungle with a few building, and Raiden was sent to a facility.
In other words, in MGS2 and MGS3 they were rookies, but underwent different experiences and 2 different missions. Except for killing the person who taught them almost everything. Plus, Raiden went under VR training, unlike BB who had different training. Also the fact the fact that Raiden hated Solidus, while BB cared for The Boss. Not to mention the events of MGS: PO, which is the reason why BB does what he does in the MG games. Plus, I do agree with you in one thing, the part of Big Boss training Grey Fox and Solidus training Raiden. So, I must say that I think Raiden is at the level of Grey Fox seeing as how both of them use swords. Even if Raiden starts with guns and changes to swords. Now, I am not saying that I am right, you could be right and I could wrong, or vice-versa.

"The Boss' relationship with Naked Snake was the complete opposite of Raidens and Solidus."
And then you said something like you found it ironic that The Boss took everything away form Naked Snake. And then you wonder Solidus took everything away from Raiden. Which i find ironic since The Boss' relationship with Naked Snake was the complete opposite of Raidens and Solidus.
The ideals of The Boss and Solidus were the same,.. If I remember correctly. I also was remembering that Solidus killed Raidens parents,.. I wonder what happened to Naked Snakes parents. PS> I need to play MGS1 again badly. I need that as a downloadable game on the ps3 ASAP

I also forgot anything about The Boss going to the moon totally

SO is Raiden a clone like the other Snakes or a person? That bit confused me.

I agree with Naruto2192, Raiden has more in common with Grey Fox. Besides, they're going to show a new character in MGS:4......Liquidus Snake!
I think they will reveal that Ocelot is BB's younger brother.
