So despite the fact that it was considered the 'worse' option, I went and got Eternal Sonata. And you know what? I do get the feeling that western game reviewers are biased. Every shooter in the world has the same old thing going on, and that's never a cliche. Every hack and slash it's the same old hacking and slashing all the time, and those are not repetitive. God of War 2 was the same damn game over again with a worse plot and a slightly not as good camera, and everyone thinks it reinvented the wheel
So you know what, you biased western game reviewer? Screw you. Sure, Eternal Sonata is not perfect -the voice acting lacks emotions (at least in English, I'll check the Japanese when I replay it), there's a hell of a lot of cutscenes, and the tempo of the game is rather slow. But it's not my problem you have the patience of a 4-year-old. I like the game -it has a story in it, quite deep one actually, it has a new kind of battle system (a bit like Kingdom Hearts actually), and for a game that has 10+ playable characters it does a very good job in making all of them likable and 3-dimensional. It won't be my favorite RPG because of the style and the fact that there's no character development (gameplay-wise), but at least it makes me like it. And that's not as easy as it may sound.
I did try out Valkyria a little though, and it too seemed pretty ok. So maybe I'll get that some time too. Now I'm eyeing Drake's Fortune though, and of course the upcoming A Crack in Time and Brütal Legend. Maybe Arkham, depends on whether the mr. wants it on his PC or my PS3.
Our vacation started
Been at it for a week now, and freedom does taste pretty nice. We've watched a lot of bad movies (mostly Resident Evil films, all rather bad), went to the zoo, spinning (which was really fun
we'll be doing it some more), picking berries, eating berries, playing, going to movies (Potter, which was pretty good actually), things like that. I've totally lost count on days (it's Tuesday today in my head
) but that doesn't matter -I'm on vacation ![]()
So Potter, since you asked. I liked it a lot actually, for a Potter that is. And for a 2,5 hour film -I'm impressed that there never came that moment where I could say 'take half an hour of this away, and it would be a good movie'. The truth is that 1,5 hour movies are the best -there's not enough time to screw it up. 2 hour films, you need to be able to direct a little to make it work, and over 2 hours, well then you actually need to be pretty good at your work if it doesn't feel too long. And the new Potter didn't -it felt long, but not too long. Also good music, and I liked the fact that you could keep in track with it even if you haven't read the book / don't remember anything from it.
All the fans of course would curse me for blasphemy
But the truth is that a movie that tries too hard to match it's source will only fail. To make a truly good movie, that can stand on it's own and be proud, you need to change things. That's why I adore Goro Miyazaki's EarthSea -it's not about the books, it's an independent story standing on it's own. That and it has the most beautiful sceneries in the world.
Well I guess that's enough babble for this time. The only thing tainting my lovely vacation is the fact that we need to order stethoscopes soon. But to make that a little easier I decided to go with something that no-one else will have -and you can customize it too
Coolio.

When is the right time to give up?
To raise your hands and walk away?
Is there a right time?
Is it ever okay to let go?
Or should you keep trying and trying
Hoping for a change
Till all hope is lost?
Which is worse:
To give up and let hope die
Or live in false hope till hope gives up?
Oh, and Marco.

Potter...meh,never liked the books/films,i just find it overrated. And you are the second person i know to have seen the EarthSea by Miyazaki's son
I like the things that you write at the end of your blogs.
I thought that Marco would be one of the songs you like, but i was wrong(first time im happy to be wrong
I saw EarthSea with Goro himself
I'm gonna have to disagree on HP.
personally I feel that the movies have lost the charm that PS & CoS had,
that and they just can't cram all the information and brilliance of these books into 1 movie anymore,
in my opinion, they should have started cutting the books into multiple movies after book 3.
and hey, they didn't even mention SPEW or Dobbie at ALL in OOTP,
that's just sad xP
I apologize for any upsets in here, but I just can't help it.
Zerox.
P.S. heyla, how's everything going?, and (know I've either said it before, or made some mention to it) congratulations on the Mr. =D
my Brother is having his own wedding come may 2010, very excited to crash said wedding.
@Zerox: Well well, hello there. I think it's good that they don't mention everything that's in the books, there's a lot of nice stuff that's fun to read but have nothing to do with the plot. They're making movies, not turning the books into pictures.
I'm doing ok, vacations are the best
I support your state of permanent ringlessness, down with outdated-symbolism
I've said this before but you're my kind of reviewer
But the cursive text is the best as usual
You've given me something to think about.......I like that
Meh, if I think about it or not life usually has it's way with me, whatever I decide.
Sorry for being "quiet" again but I've given everyone around me that treatment. I'm trying hard to get out of it.
And life doesn't really care about us, it just does whatever it wants. You can either accept that, or do what I do -fret over it all the time
It takes time, don't worry about it.
