My van is a magnet for other vehicles. I have had it for less than two years. Bought it brand new after driving a clunker for years just waiting for the chance to buy 'the car' I really, really wanted. Less than a month after driving off the lot, I got rear ended. I was sitting still at a red light and a guy just rammed into the back of me. He claimed that someone hit him and pushed him into me and then ran away. Consequently, I ended up paying for some of the damage out of my own pocket because it had to be turned in under the 'uninsured motorist'clause on my insurance policy so I got stuck with a deductible.

Two months ago while I was in WV for my grandfather's funeral, my van was parked in my grandma's driveway and my uncle backed into the front quarter panel. At least that time I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket since his insurance covered it, but still it is a huge inconvenience having to leave work several times to take care of the repairs.

Finally, just yesterday, I was at the local recycling center trying to do something good for the environment, and this guy cut too sharp going around me (while I was parked) and swiped the front corner. He wants to pay out of pocket, which is fine with me, but now I have to go though the trouble of taking it to get it repaired again.

This makes three times my van has been hit. All three while it was standing still. I have frequent flyer miles at the local body shop. Has anyone else had their car damaged this many times or is it just me? Is my van cursed? I waited for so long to take the plunge on a new car. Am I doing something to attract this type of 'attention'?

Anyway, happy monday to you all. Now I'm off to the repair shop for my lunch break - trying my best to keep a positive attitude.

Oh man, that really stinks about what has been happening to your van. My father actually had the same scenario as you when he bought his Buick in 2001. Within two years, he got rear-ended a couple of times while driving. Eventually though after that, he hasn't been in a accident since then. Hopefully, this is the last time you have to deal with an accident.

lol. I'm a magnet for trouble. My friends and I had to beat up two guys recently(Don't think of me as a bad guy. He was at fault)

dudette. So sorry. Perhaps getting an inflatable cover to have on the outside of the van might be help-a-ma-ful.

Yikes! Sounds like you and my dad have something in common. Of the 6 times he has had his car struck by another car, 5 times his car was sitting still, twice he wasn't even in the car. None were ever his fault. This happen with 4 different cars by the way. Sorry you have had your van struck that often, SBS.

The parrots' Mystical gets out her magical wand, ways it, and tries to put a protection spell on SBS's van.

Sorry that happened to you. Wished that I could find a magic wand and make this go disappear for you my friend. Happy Monday as well.

Anime-Destiny - I'm thinking of putting a sign in the window that says "Please don't hit me" At least they have all been fairly minor though.

gad - I'm glad I wasn't the one to get beat up.

kas - Sure does, and not like roses either.

Frakker - Not a bad idea. Now if I only had a magic wand to conjur one of those up.

13P - I hope Mystical's magic works!

JPPT - Thanks JPPT! Trying to stay positive.

So the other driver made an excuse and just ran away? I gotta say, he probably has no insurance

I had a brand new (less than 6 months old) Camaro go up in flames while parked in the driveway of my home... it was totalled . It took almost 3 months of going round & round with the car dealer, the manufacturer and the insurance company to reach a settlement... and I ended up losing money on the deal .

What color is it? Cuz I read somewhere that black vehicles are more often involved in accidents. So your van might just be under that curse.

That does seem like bad luck with your van, Shiny... maybe it's karma is paying it back for something?? Maybe your van was a bad car in a past life and is paying for it now??

I drive a little old toyota... its 12 years old but never been in an accident! It's been so reliable... I too have the 'new car bug' and desperately want a RAV 4 - but the thought of looking after one scares me to death!

that really is bad luck!

I'm sorry that keeps happening. Honestly though, people cannot drive at all. Some jack*** was barely even a breath away from banging right into the driver's side door (where I was) today because he didn't check his mirrors before switching lanes. I'm surprised his paint wasn't smeared on my car, that's how close he was to really smashing into me. Almost had a bloody heart-attack.

Anyway, hope your repairs went well yesterday.

BTW, I hear Olivander is good for those magic wands.

This is just proof that bad drivers are everywhere.
