"You get the most bang for your buck with food stamps." -- Nancy Pelosi
"Every month that we don't have an economic recovery package 500 million people lose their jobs." -- Nancy Pelosi
"It's hard to talk when you're tea-bagging." -- Anderson Cooper
"Did he (Anderson Cooper) just come out?" -- Greg Gutfeld
"This is about hating a black man in the White House, straight up." -- Janeane Garofalo
"The first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man." -- Joe Biden
"Happy Cinco de Cuatro" -- Barack Obama
"I want to emphasize that the President has not seen the questions ahead of time" -- Valerie Jarrett, turned into an unwitting liar at Obama's stacked "town hall" on healthcare.
"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government." -- Thomas Jefferson
Polling continues to show that if congress and the Obama Administration insist on pushing the unwanted Cap and Trade legislation down the throats of taxpayers at a time when money and jobs aren't exactly easy to find, it'll be political suicide.
So, by all means, please do it, Obama! Not to mention another poll that shows 54% of Americans oppose government run healthcare if it means increased taxes. Do it, Barry! DO IT!
And here's a little dab of some of that patented, cherry kool aid-flavored Obama transparency.Hmmmm, TASTY! God, what a scam this guy is, trying to sell an infomercial as a Town Hall...... Tsk, tsk, Barry. Change you can believe in!
"The point is the control from here. We have never had that in the White House. And we have had some control but not this control. I mean I'm amazed, I'm amazed at you people who call for openness and transparency and you have controlled..." veteran White House reporter Helen Thomas said Wednesday. I guess the press is getting tired of being this guy's lapdog.
SHAM.
WOW!
Oh, and let's not forget the most recent Gallup pollshowing that more Americans view the Democratic Party as too liberal since Obama doesn't have to run as a center-left candidate anymore. It's a 7% jump from just a year ago, and it's also the highest since the Democrats got wailed on and lost majorities in 1994. As I've said before, they know they are going to get butchered in 2010, and that's why there's this huge push to pass all the referendums now. Problem is, they're damaging the party and its reputation in doing so. Also, since this is a Democrat majority and a Democrat president, they're going to own whatever policies they implement now, and government-run healthcare and energy taxation are going to kill them.
It doesn't end there, though -- scientistshave sent an open letter to congress challenging them to put up or shut up about the global warming hysteria. Just as it appears the public opinion is failing on global warming, so too does it appear to be in the scientific community. Maybe that's what caused Waxman to pass out this morning. ![]()
F150 continues to outsell the Toyota Camry.Wait, I thought everyone wanted a small hybrid, how can this be?!!?
And finally, News For Sale!
If you're an Eco-Nut.
Boehner'schart, which shows that energy taxation by the government will be about as effective, streamlined, uncomplicated (and most likely just as successful) as their previous award-winning endeavors like education and transportation (see: Amtrak).
It's also just come to light that under Waxman-Markey (Cap and Trade), you will have to have an energy audit done to your home before you can sell it. So in theory, those old windows you never got around to (or couldn't afford) replacing? They've just cost you money. The air conditioner that isn't old but is far from being high efficiency? Just cost you money. The water heater? Just cost you money. And who decides this? People in D.C. who most likely didn't even know what they were signing because they didn't read it.
The adage "Be careful what you wish for" has never been more appropriate.
This is the first time Obama's approval index has fallen below zero, but it's not like this should come as a surprise. From the same Rasmussen study:
31% think Obama's stimulus helped the economy, while 31% think it hurt it.
74% of respondents trust their economic judgement over congress'.
Only 37% think the country is on the right track.
76% think the government is likely to waste the stimulus money.
Only 18% think congress is doing a good or excellent job. 80% gave it a fair or poor rating.
Only 21% think congress has approved anything in the last year that will improve the lives of U.S. citizens.
73% say that congress is more interested in their political careers than helping people.
45% believe the remainder of the stimulus money should be cancelled.
Folks, these are DEVASTATING numbers for a majority congress and a sixth month president. DEVASTATING. This is the second week in a row that Obama's poll numbers have sank, and it comes on top of news that consumer confidence plummeted 5 points from May to June. It's becoming increasingly clear to people that what is being done is NOT working, that this president is trying to completely rewrite this country's entire infrastructure when he hasn't yet fixed what people elected him to do (the economy), and that he plans on pushing through 20 years of democratic agendas because he knows they'll lose the majority next year anyway.
It's starting to sink in, people. The honeymoon is over.
And in other news, Obama's own Energy Czar was apparently too busy to read the Climate Change Billin its entirety.
Meanwhile, new polling data on the bill itself shows more bad news for Obama:
42% of those polled feel the Climate Change bill will hurt the economy, 19% say it will help it.
47% of investors say the bill is a bad idea, while 37% of non-investors think it's a good idea.
41% somewhat oppose the bill, compared to 37% who somewhat favor it.
25% strongly oppose the bill, while a scant 12% strongly favor it.
So there you have it, folks.
All this is news to Barry, though, who deems his first six months "not bad," and considers the stimulus bill a huge accomplishment. Not bad, for an eighth of a term..... for whom exactly?
