Hey there! I finally made a decision about Nicaragua -- I am not going. Instead, I am going to pick up more work over the summer, and hopefully go to British Columbia and see my little nephew. I'm very excited about all the oppurtunities, and I just know that another chance like Nicaragua 2010 will happen some day in the future!

I think I am also sold on the idea of joining the Canadian Reserves. I have done a lot of homework, and the more I learn about it the better I think it would be! But I will wait until 2010 to apply, just in case I change my mind for some reason.

By the way, I started my full first year of university! I am taking four courses this semester -- Calculus (the professor is incredibly smart, and makes the class laugh too), French (it's a little intimidating because it's a second year course, but I love French and it's going to be my Major), Spanish (the professor is so out-going and bubbly, plus I already know a few friends there), and Global Issues (it's a required course for graduation, but unfortunately I can't stand my professor! He's extremely left-wing, loves cursing a lot, and assigns the most pretentious, left-wing reading I have ever had to do!). Overall though, my experience at school has been great so far! I love finally earning my university education.

Well, I have to run. This morning I have Calculus and Spanish classes, and then I am grabbing coffee with two of my friends. Adios!

Hey Sgt! Well your completely right another opportunity will come up someday that you will be able to experience somethinglike Nicaragua again and hopefully you will be more financially stable then that missing work wouldnt be an issue Yes you should be COMPLETELY sure you want to do that before you apply...isnt it something you cant get out of? Im just assuming it is similar to the army/marine/navy reserves in America. OMG we have similar classes Im take Calc and French too...are you good at french? Becuase i STINK at it. We had are first today...i dont htink I bombed it but I definitly didnt ace it O well! Hah have a nice week!

Thanks for the comment Amanda! I still feel great about my Nicaragua decision, so I know I made the right choice. Luckily, the Canadian Reserves is only a part-time, non-commital position. There is no gun to your head so you never quit. However, the regular Armed Forces have such rules, and are a full-time commitment. I have other goals for my career, so I think part-time is a much better option for me! I hope your school year is going awesome. If you ever need help with French, let me know! I'm fluently a certified bilingual, and French is my Major.
