70. Re: I'm extremely dissappointed with season three... (312/313 SPOILERS) | 01/30/2008 1:41am

I have enjoyed all of Season 3, but i've found that some things should have been rearranged or excluded. I know it isnt up to me, but its my opion (i think i put this up ages ago). One thing for me is the distinct lack of Zuko and proper developement during first half of S3. He didnt even need half ep storys, he could have been in it for only a scene eg. when CM is chasing the Gaang he could send reports back to ZUko so you have Zuko recieve a msg and narrate as the scene plays whilst we watch CM seeking the Gaang- this could have easily been done in Painted Lady with CM questioning FN teachers, kid and then ppl at town at the end. WHilst this happens you see Zuko react to CM progression and start to doubt himself. This would also have cut down on Events in eps like Painted lady which were tedious and fillerish. It would have continued the plot.

ZUko's Scene in NM&DDs should have replaced scenes in headband; Mai was actually a little improved there and we wouldnt have had another repeat of ZUko saying this isnt what he wants. Also Zuko in previous ep discovered he's related to Roku and had his head in his hands and was shocked; cut to next ep and he's completely fine! WTF?

Instead in NM&DDS we should have seen ZUko, like Aang, unable to sleep and enduring spirit dreams like in Guru episode. This would have lead up properly, and connected with Aang, to DOBS.

FInally DOBS- fantastic eps for me, but maybe we could have solved some more issues in it. In part 2, Zuko should have started fighting Ozai after the lightning attack and redirect(one of the best scenes EVER ) and the Gaang (like Azula) hears the blast and go off towards it. They encounter Zuko battling OZai and are shocked. Whilst they stand there stunned Royal guards re-enter the room and join in the attack. Zuko does impressive job against FN group but is pushed back against wall. Toph says they cant just Leave ZUko to die and jumps down to help, followed by the others. ZUko is knocked out saving Aang and the gaang take him with them. ZUko says he has to go get Uncle and says he'll meet them back up (witty remark from sokka). Gaang leaves without ZUko, but he follows behind in Ballon.

Thus is Wat we have same sort of scenario, but with less mucking around at beginning (who will teach Aang). We'd also have time for longer CM attack and first words- i work for someone else now (ie Azula- who he secretly worked for from start so as to show ZUko didnt kill Aang).

I kinda agree, esp. with the way Zuko has been written and a lot of the sillyness this season. I think it was Spacerac that said in the forum speculation that they are doing the comedy now because the rest of the series is probably gonna be darker/more serious. I agree with that, too. I just miss the balance of comedy and seriousness that Avatar used to do so effortlessly throughout most of the eps (not so loaded). sigh, ok, I'm done. Hope all is well on your end =)

Exactly Amari_07- either have the episode half/half, 3/4 comedy or completely serious. But when u have sooo many episodes that have had sooo much comedy in them not only is the serious themes of the show degraded, but the comedy of the show we love losses its value

lol i loved the second last episode lol (esp wen the animals started talking, so funny) yeh i was kinda disappointed too. kinda wanted there to be a better ending but still he hasn't even masted fire yet, so i gues he couldn't start fighting the fire fire lord.

Zuko is one of the most powerful firebenders there is and has contsantly improved in skill and technique throughout the show. He has fought the Avatar to stand-stills time and again- latest and best being CROD. And in DOBS we saw him, on his first try ever, redirect the most powerful lightning attack in the show. If Zuko can take on firebenders without using any himself in S1, with his improved FB in S3 i have no doubt he would have put up an impressive fight.
