First Contact is a great Star Trek movie. Even if you're not a Star Trek fan, if you like scifi TV shows and movies, then you'll love this movie.
If you're trying to get your friends or family into Star Trek, start them off with this.

Robert Wise had no business directing this movie. Good actors, good characters, and a good plot concept, but the plot could have easily have been only an hour long.

When you spend 1/2 of the movie simply traveling slowly through the cloud and when it takes 10 minutes to dock with the ship, the plot is too stretched out.

I'm sorry, I really wish I could have said better about it.

A great film with a great cast and a great director.

One of the best scifi movies. It has a great story and was the first film to actually use CGI special effects. When it was originally released, it got a good reception at the box office but a bad one by movie critics. They complained about the plot that it was "too confusing." The first time I watched it, I really enjoyed it even though i didn't understand all aspects of the plot. I then watched the extended version that is on the special edition DVD and I completely understood the plot.

Dune had a great director, David Lynch. Honestly, all of his movies and TV shows are really wierd (Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks), but that doesn't mean they aren't good. It just means it takes a little time for some peopel to get into them.

I rate this as 5 stars and it gets that with flying colors.

I enjoy this movie every time I watch it because it has great action scenes and it popints out all of the flaws and predictable stuff that is put into Hollywood action movies. "Seeing as your about to die anyway I might as well tell you the entire plot," is a quote that I think about everytime I watch an action movie. After watching this movie you'll never be able to keep a straight face while watching a James Bond movie ever again.
