GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

So a couple of days ago I finished Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (a 2004 RPG developed by Troika Games using Valve's Source engine) and decided to post a little tribute to the game.

My thoughts on this game? Short version, it's awesome. The longer version (the review) can be found here. But because I'm so in love with this game I decided to do a music video with gameplay footage (all captured by me) in honor of this forgotten masterpiece. A couple of my friends here had told me this game was pretty good, but I had not idea just how great it really was. To all RPG fans, or anyone who likes great games (so long as you're mature enough), give this game a try. It's a cIassic.

I purchased Vampire about a year ago, played halfway through and for some reason completely forgot about it. And now I've lost my save file because I reformated my PC and forgot to take a backup. Maybe I'll just start all over again with a different kind of character.

I played this game at launch, got it day 1 with a free T-Shirt (lol) based on what people were saying.

Got it home, installed played for a few hours and found out the most horrible performing, buggiest game I ever played, couldn't enjoy it. In fact my 9700pro died playing this game.

Mid last year a friend said I should try it, so I did with community patches and a better PC. Finally I could play it, great game, completely ruined at launch by bugs and unforgivable honestly, but as it is now a fantastic game.

Looks alright. I vaguely remember the card game it was based on (I'm assuming it is the same licence).

It really is a forgotten masterpiece for me, until this blog I had forgotten the game existed! I'll have to check out your video when I get home, since I can't play it at work.

The games looks pretty good for 2004, and the death animations look superb and satisfacting. Infact it does look a bit odd for a game that has a bit of FPS to have floating numbers, but I haven't seen anything yet until I have played, will see...

Great review.

I still think Ocean House Hotel is one of gaming's greatest moments.

@RK:

Definitely give it another go. Just be sure to have it patched.

@nutcrackr:

Can't disagree that the game was buggy upon release, but fortunately I didn't encounter any major glitches when playing with the 1.2 patch, which is why I probably don't harbor any resentment against the game for being released in an unfinished state.

@bacchus:

Yeah, the game is based on the White Wolf franchise, although I really know next to nothing about it.

@johnsteed:

Glad I reminded you of this little gem!

@Sardinar:

Since the game is an RPG, the first person combat is not very polished and rarely necessary so you'll hardly find yourself playing in FPS mode for too long.

@princess:

To be fair princess, they were criticizing the technical issues of the game, not the content itself.

Anyway, you rock too my princess!

@monco:

Thanks. You were totally right when you said I was in for a treat when I started playing this game. And without a doubt the haunted mansion was one of the best moments in the game (which in turn means it was one of the best moments in gaming history).

Trans. Very nice man, as usual people are drawn it. Keep up the good work.

@Arcadius:

Las putas tiene efectos curativos, eso esta probado cientificamente, jajaja! Si no les chupas sangre vos, ellas te chupan el .... no pues mejore me callo!

@gfile:

Thank you my croatian friend, haven't seen you in a while (I just noticed you had posted a blog, sorry for missing it).

You're right, the game was very buggy upon release, but that has all been fixed by now thanks to the official patch and the dozens of user created patches released for this game. If you find yourself in a gaming slump (unlikely given how many games you buy!), I suggest you play this bloody masterpiece.
