The Coma is written by Alex Garland (The Beach)
Synopsis: Coming home late from the office one night, Carl intervenes when a group of teenage boys attempt to assault the subway's lone other passenger, a young woman, and they beat him severely enough to put him into a coma. This all happens within the first five pages; what follows in the remaining 195 is an account of his long struggle to regain consciousness, a dark and sometimes terrifying story that derives its somber beauty from the directness and precision of Garland's writing.
I really enjoyed this book, actually it's the only book i've ever read in the same day that I bought it. I didn't really know what to expect after the first couple of pages but it's got excellent depth into the mind and humans perspective of things. If you haven't read this book i suggest you do but don't read it if you get confused easily! I rate it 10 Out Of 10.
