During the time the Nintendo DS was released, hundreds of games were released. And because of the huge range of games, and the community, the Nintendo DS pretty much ownd the Sony PSP. Now, realistically you may have quite alot of games in your colllection. Now heres the deal, you are going out somewhere and can't take anything more than just your DS for portability reasons, now that must seriously be a pain in the ass. Fortunately, there are solutions.
Flashcarts
Flash carts are basically the game cartridges. They store the data you require to play each game, yet they are locked. So if you manage to find a cartridge reader, it wouldn't affect it much as they aren't re-writable. This is when Flashcarts come into play, they allow you to store any data you want on a cartridge, which in turn opens a whole new world for you and your Nintendo DS.
Many flashcarts allow for upgradable memory to store alot more data if required. They often run on SD cards, or Micro SD card for DS Lite flashcarts.
The Supercard
The supercard is a upgradable storage enabled flash cart, and if among the most popular of flashcarts.
The slot in the flash cart if for the micro SD card in which will hold all your data.
The supercard lite has many uses such as;
- Playing Homebrew.
- Playing music/movies.
- Playing NDS roms, with save function.
- Playing GBA roms, with save function.
- Playing emulators.
You may question it's legality, and in truth it is 100% legal. However, when playing roms/emulators you MUST own the physical game and console. There is no questioning it, if you want to just download and play all the games you want for free then stop reading. It is ILLEGAL, and classed as piracy. If you choose to do so, I will not take responsiblity for your actions.
Now, for storage info..
A 1GB (Gigabyte) Micro SD card is very sufficient. Nintendo DS games are often 32-64MB, with some as low as 8MB, and a slight few as high as 128MB. A 1GB Micro SD Card can usually hold around 20 games.
