Well still nothing has been 100% confirmed as to what happened with Jeff. However, it is confirmed, by Jeff himself, that he was indeed terminated and I have little doubt that the Kane and Lynch review played a factor in that. My cohort says it best for both of us and so it is now time for me to wipe the stain of the CNET corporation from my life. There are a bunch of personal things I want to say regarding GameSpot but I feel they are better saved for the next recording of GameSlaves Radio. Expect much of episode 33 to deal with this particular topic. I'm not going to say that I'll never visit the site again because I may need to use it as a news source and I still respect many of GameSpot's staff members, especially its news team. However, I will no longer be logging into my GameSpot user account or reading editorial content. I'll most likely move on to the 1Up.com community and give that site a try for a while. I've been listening to 1Up's roster of podcasts and have been enjoying them for a long time now, I just never had a reason to actively visit their site... now I have a reason. I'm not asking all of you to do the same but I do hope that those of you who have proclaimed to take action against GameSpot/CNET for the termination of an honest man actually follow through in some way. For those of us leaving, it'll be tempting to log back in and see what everyone is up to in the community but our resolve in not doing so is one of the most effective ways to show CNET the power of the readership. I would sincerely like to thank all of you that have been following and supporting me and my crazy podcast endeavour and I'll miss interacting with all of you through our blogs. I know I didn't comment very often in the blogs of everyone on my GameSpot friends list but I did read all of them. Some of you are very talented people in many different ways but I can see a shared passion for the industry amongst us and I hope to see content in any form from a lot of you in the future. Thank you for keeping me entertained over the years. I'm not really sure what else to say, GameSpot has lost many of its great editors over the past couple of years and now with the most recent it has also lost a lot of its readership. We the readers that are leaving are not only losing out on the great editors who remain and their content but are also losing out on one of the best communities I have ever had the privilege of being a part of. I think in the end that hurts us more than leaving hurts them, we were all just nameless page views and hit counts for them anyway. In death, a member of the community has a name, his name is Jeff Gerstmann.
