What a week...

Work started off bad as the company ended the month with lower cash collections than budgeted as well as not being able to bill a significant amount of employee's time to our clients in a timely fashion. The president and CEO was not happy with either news bit. I took it upon myself to ask my project managers if they needed any assistance with any of their accounts. I didn't get much feedback. I am trying my best to contribute more to the company, but I guess all the project managers had other things to take care of.

My brother started his senior semester this week. It's not much of a problem for both of us since we've been used to waking up early. This semester, he and I have to wake up earlier on Tuesdays and Thursdays because Temple University pushed up the early morning class start times on those days up to 8:00 AM. So I end up working a little bit longer on those days thanks to that slight adjustment. It's already had an effect on me, but like anything else in life, I'll just have to deal with it. There's no other way around it.

On Wednesday, one of my co-workers gave me an earful after she received a vendor statement that we owe them over $3,000. I researched where we stood and saw that we paid some of those invoices and many others were at our corporate headquarters waiting to be processed, but there were a few that I did see. I managed to get some of those missing accounted for. But one of them I tried to get approval for, she went berserk because it was an invoice from June and that it probably won't be billable because our client is picky on what they will pay for.

I spent all of yesterday and today issuing new draft invoices for the month and revising our invoices for a client so that it can be paid for. The work was so tedious and boring that I started to space out a lot in my cubicle. This month will be a pain because the CFO and controller pressured all the accounting folks to process all invoices within two weeks. This will be a pain because some of my project managers are not as responsive as they should be. They continue to ignore it until it is due. I'd like to pressure them more than what I'm putting forth, but they're my bosses, so I can't go all-out on them. You can say I'm stuck in a catch-22.

Then the icing on the cake. As I exited the office today, the co-worker I took the elevator with told me that we just laid off another one of our office co-workers. So much for all the talk that no more layoffs were going to occur for the remainder of this year. Then I get home and see that my X-Box 360 console suffered the dreaded Red Ring of Death. Well, I'll be absent from actual gaming on that console for some time. I'll manage to pass the time somehow.

What a week...

I purchased a manga two weeks ago at the Barnes & Noble nearby my office. I decided to purchase Clover, which has ben reissued as an omnibus (all volumes packed into one volume). The art and packaging are beautiful, but the story and characters are flat.

I've been kicking around some thoughts on a blog entry that does not concern about my working events. One thought I had was to revisit some things I enjoyed in the past and give my updated review on them. There are some anime, manga, video games and music albums in which I've had different opinions on them after my initial thoughts. Another one I've been tinkering in my head are the different enjoyment experiences with video games in each gaming generation. I'm not sure if I'll get them off the ground, but if I do find the time and energy to do it, I'll give it a shot.

Well, thanks to a 24-hour Wal-Mart, I have given in and purchased a Playstation 3 console with Guitar Hero 5. I'll still purchase The Beatles: Rock Band for the X-Box 360, but I may consider purchasing Dirt 2 on the PS3. By the way, my PSN ID is RuriKidA.

I apologize for not being around Gamespot much as of late. I hope all of you are doing well with your lives!

Thanks again for stopping by for those who happen to read this entry.
