Come here you feisty, fiery fraulein you!
Well I guess that top ten list took a lot out of me, that and not a whole lot to report has been the reason for my lack of blogging these past few weeks. Ive got a lot here and a good amount of it is pretty unrelated to each other so Ive decided to divide this up into sections to avoid confusion. A lot of this is sorta my summer in review so I guess we'll take it from the top!
Regenerating space, magically making machines
Over the summer I went to my fair share of movies, 1 was excellent, 2 were pretty much what I expected and the fourth I would say was a let down. Star Trek was the excellent one; special effects, story, all was just wow. If any of you haven't seen it I couldn't recommend a better summer movie, its got it all. Wolverine was exactly as I thought it would be, an entertaining escapade full of epic mutant fights and plenty of back-story to the most celebrated of X Men. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was again standard Potter movie fare, something you wont take your eyes off while its playing and certainly well made but not up to par with the books. Lastly, Terminator Salvation was pretty much not a good movie. Some of the action was good fun, the appearance of an old great was appreciated and some of the gadgets had a few things going for them but I wouldn't recommend it unless you were renting it for a decent price.
Sneaking into libraries, Midgar, AND Gallia!
Seems like a lot huh? Well I guess maybe but not as much as Id hoped for this summer. I once again played my single favorite game of all time; Metal Gear Solid 4. This time I tried a new approach, going through the game like I would normally only using just the MK.2, Mosin Nagant, smoke grenades and sleep gas mines. I unlocked the Foxhound emblem with this playthrough, trying to take it a little more easy than my last Big Boss playthrough. Is it possible to get bored of MGS4? I was totally shocked and amazed by the wonderful BlazBlue, playing the game was like a totally new experience in fighting; depth you cant imagine and flawless 2D graphics kept me coming back for more. The Hell mode on Arcade was doable for me but so far score attack mode has been met with fail. Still, where would a summer be without the epicness of Cloud, Tifa and the gang? The answer to that is somewhere unenjoyable. I played FFVII for probably what is the 3rd time all the way through, always amazing. Last but in no way least, Valkyria Chronicles made it to my play list with a huge BANG! I have been miserable at finishing the game though, it seems like every attempt to sit down and play is met with some kind of interruption. I will say that regardless of the time its taken me to advance, I have been captivated by the unparalleled strategy and fantastic story of the game.
Immaculate epiphany of the obvious
Ever have the feeling you lost something or someone you really care about but then realized you were just being stupid and that you never lost them to begin with? That it(or)they were just the same and telling you to wake up and see the obvious: nothing at all has changed between you? Ok well I have! It was lets say, not fun at all. But the greatest thing about thinking you lost whats most dear to you, then finding that bond is just as strong as its always been is something fantastic. Sorry for not being all that clear on this but its kinda a private matter, I just wanted to make a note of it in my blog and maybe pass on a little wisdom. But Id like to thank a very good friend of mine at this time too (you know who you are.)
Endless romp of eight anime
I took in my fair share of anime this summer. I watched Chobits; a very touching anime about love and relationships, something I thought might be ok turned out to be great fun. I touched on Ai yori Aoshi, another sorta romantic comedy, while nowhere near as interesting as Chobits but it had its moments and Tina Foster was more than funny to watch. I reacquainted myself with an old friend (Amuro Ray) and his RX-78 Gundam by watching the original Mobile Suit Gundam movie trilogy; if you can watch some super vintage anime, pick these up, it takes almost nothing out of the series and the whole of each movie is around 2hrs. 2 other old favorites of mine Ghost in the Shell and Akira I watched again (this time on my new sound system) and Akira on Blu Ray; which BTW is the perfect media to watch quality anime! I have started and am halfway through Escaflowne, so far a bit disappointing but I guess my mecha anime watching has been spoiled with such masterpieces as Gundam Wing, Gurren Lagann and Evangelion. Speaking of which, I watched everything humanly possible of my favorite anime this summer including the new films and the old ones, I just cant tire of the best!! Finally, Ive been keeping tabs on the SOS Brigade and good ol' Haruhi in season 2. While the season has been a bit of a drag so far you cant keep a girl like Haruhi down for long and the last few eps have begun to turn things around and are the usual fun and madness.
Board games? Real men play video games!
Now that my summer has officially ended with this blog (I start school back tomorrow, thank God for the 2 hr delay!) I actually can say Im happy, Ive been looking forward to going back for a while now. My summer while easy, just hasn't been as eventful with friends as I would've liked. A few went on vacation and some others refused to do anything except play board games, that means no movies, no prowling the mall for chicks (relax Im half kidding) basically no fun, so I kinda refused to join in on that
Luckily I'll be having a lot more to do during the school year and Im looking forward to messing around during study hall, having nice things to look at and ofcourse who can argue with pizza and fries for lunch? especially when you never gain a single lb. Well I cant say this summer was a loss, as you can see there were plenty of things I did and lots to be thankful for, oh and a drivers license because you are now talking to a sixteen year old!

Hm, I wonder what nice things you are keen to look at? Care to elaborate?
Well, not a ton of games, but thats made up for with pure quality. I've played through MGS4 a total of 8 times now, so no, I don't think it does ever get boring.
Well, good luck with school, I'm sure you'll have a blast. I actually wish I was still in high school....sounds nice. Instead I get to go to college courses with mostly 30+ year olds...
I actually went to see some movies this summer, and I've seen Harry Potter and Terminator from that list. Yeah, Terminator provided some pretty fun thrills, but beyond that, it was a disappointment - considering the fact that it was a continuation of the oh-so-epic Terminator franchise. I recommend seeing District 9, while I need to go see Star Trek
Hells yeah, BlazBlue! I always play through Hell mode was warm up, but I still can't beat Unlimited Ragna. I came very close once, but after about fifteen or so hours trying to beat him (accumulated), I'm still going to practice more.
Also, good luck wth VC! Awesome game is awesome, but I'm sure you've noticed that by now
Endless Eight was... special
That predicament happened to apply to a friend I have. I knew that he always knew the answer deep inside. Just a small reminder would have been enough to make him remember and recall what that special bond between him and the the "lost" thing really was. Last time I checked, he's completely gotten back into it, and he's reestablished that connection stronger than ever. No surprises though - I had complete faith in him since this kind of connection was unmatched.
I'm sort of looking forward to school too since work is taking so much out of me at times though I start in october. I'll hate having to wake up at 6.30 and all the loong loooong essays for sure though, I haven't missed those.
@broly: yeah, I cant say it was bad.
@david:
@HAVOK: uhhh....not really
@abyss: thanks man
@raven: I wanted to see Public Enemies but never did
@grunt: And same goes for you
@ed: yeah, its pretty much...amazing! About the license, just lucky I guess
@sparda: ya know something about MGS4 no matter how hard I try to play it different and go the Rambo route I just cant, I end up sneaking around too much, just cant break that old habit
@jay: ugh! Thats not something to wirte home about
yup
but one good thing about this summer was that I actually got to hang out with my past friends in NY
