Just when you start to feel the need for a break some big turkey comes around and gives it to you! Yeah schools been brutal the last couple of weeks, not really sure why but a majority of teachers gave us a ton of work and TBH Im surprised I can even type this from the writers cramp in my hands. Hmmm was that part of what contributed to my boredom last week?
Yes! your highness.
Code Geass is perfectus (I choose the Latin word because it can mean both finished and perfect.) While certainly nowhere near the true meaning of perfection as another anime Im fond of, it was more than enough to warrant a masterful 10. I was glued, glued to the edge of my seat for the entirety of the show. Lelouch really redeemed himself for me by the end and all thats left to say is damn you Lancelot Albion for being the coolest freakin mech this side of NERV HQ. Next up: Death Note and Air.
Who said Irishwomen cant cook?
Honestly Id like to know, but whoever did never met my mother. While she doesnt cook all that often, when she does step into the kitchen my mom cooks up a storm! Ofcourse its Thanksgiving tomorrow, *looks down at clock* (jeez its after midnight already; correction: today) There will be plenty of great food around the house, way more than I can eat, though I dare anyone here to eat more mashed potatoes than me
Ham, turkey, Mt. Dew, I'll be having it all and ofcourse I have to save room for some of that dessert. So if anyone has an Irishwoman around, ask her to whip up some mashed potatoes for you today, dont worry she wont take offense to the cliche, especially if you are Irish ![]()
Heres something I meant to do last year for Thanksgiving but just never got around to it, Id like to take just a second and acknowledge some of the things Im thankful for, these arent in a particular order.
1. Good health-Really, I have been very fortunate in this aspect. I rarely get sick and when I do its usually just a quick mild 24hr virus. I know plenty of people with terrible immune systems and I can say good health is a blessing.
2. Common sense-I know this might sound weird but damn Ive been around way too many people that are just plain stupid.
3. A roof over my head-I know it sounds stupid but take a step back for a minute and think of how lucky we all are to be online right now, playing games and taking it easy. There are a lot of people who cant say that.
4. A wonderful, amazing, supporting person-someone who is very important to me provides a mountain of support that no one else can. This individual is my inspiration, there is no one I could give my thanks to more.-oh and that bikini you have DAMN!
5. All of you!-GS is a fantastic place to be, all of you great, Im always happy to get on and read your blogs and converse with you ![]()
Well that'll wrap it up for now, anything you guys are thankful for out there? Drop it in the comments ![]()
Its been a long time since Ive bloged purely out of boredom. But today was one of those days, you know the kind when you get home from school you crack open a beer...sit next to a naked girl on your bed..go for a spin in your sports car and save dogs from burning building. You say you dont believe that?!
That wonderful thing called anime
Yes Im a fiend, Gundam, EVA, Code Geass, you name it I watched it this past week, excitement overload? You bet! I watch Gundam Wing every year at this time and I just get taken aback each time I see it, the action combined with questioning the means of war and how its fought (man vs. machine) always makes me take a step back and just think about the questions the show asks. Its also the ONLY anime Ive ever seen that has a superior English dub than the original Japanese (I still cant believe Im saying that!) Thats not to say its perfect, there are some weak points (Relena) but all around, the dub is spectacular. If youd like to see a great(but old) trailer check this out. EVA, well what can I say, I watch it all the time and its my favorite. Code Geass has taken me by surprise. I knew I would like it going in but it has been one of those rare shows that gets better with each passing episode. At first I was disappointed with the lack of mech action but it has turned itself around and I couldnt be happier with the amount of fighting mechs blazing across my screen! Twists and turns galore, Shirley!-yup never saw that coming! Keep up this pace Lelouch and I'll have no choice but to bestow a 10 on your rebellion ![]()
Keep the games coming
The last time I played DMC4 was actually a while ago, I was so booked with other games and had beaten it 4 times I just let it sit on my shelf in its shiny steelbook. During that time I was busy with all the hits that came out, taking them down one after the other, paying my avatar no mind. On my long wait for Demon's Souls I threw the Blu Ray back in my PS3 and took on this demon hoard once again, this time on the brutal Dante Must Die mode. I wouldve had a much easier time had I not been so rusty but its done and I can breathe a sigh of relief. Im now playing Demon's Souls, which isnt exactly easy either, the levels themselves could be harder but the bosses make me want to break my controller in half! So far though the game has been a rip roaring adventure and one of the best games Ive played this year. Last week I was perusing ebay and found a steal, Street Fighter IV, a game Ive been wanting for a while but never picked it up. Anyway, a collectors ed WITH strategy guide for 40 bucks, yes thats right four-zero! I still really cant believe it myself but it sure looks great in my collection, heres a pic:

One more final
Well I told you guys last time Id let you know what happened in the poetry contest and Im pleased to say I won! Thank you all who read it and enjoyed it. The poem was a true labor of love and Im very glad I put my mind to it and I certainly couldn't have accomplished this alone; a nice bonus, I dont have to take the final exam ![]()
Since Code Geass has been on my mind I ran across a line in my English book about Robin Hood and I thought, Lelouch is a lot like Robin: "I know not perfectly my Paternoster (latin for our father) as the priest sings it, but I can rhymes of Robyn Hoode."-William Langland
Alright we might as well start off the blog with the boring obligatory stuff. I finished Uncharted 2 and was a little bummed on the ending but I did have a few laughs at the finish. That doesnt take anything away from the greatness of the gameplay and the sheer awesomeness of Drake, I have a feeling it will win PS3 GOTY and will be a strong contender for overall GOTY. I was planning on jumping right into Demon's Souls but unfortunately the stupid company I ordered the game from was out of stock of its deluxe ed. and sent me an email saying it would take an extra week unless I wanted the regular ed. The answer to that is HELLS NO! So Im tying up a few loose ends in some older games that have been neglected for a while until it arrives (which should be the middle of the week according to the latest email.)
I finished Batman: TAS this week and man was it ever fun to watch! I learned a great deal more about the caped crusader and his rouges gallery than I ever knew before. The series was an absolute blast to watch, literally never a dull moment. Sometime soon Im planning to watch the animated movies too. Next up on my to-watch list is something Ive put off far too long: Code Geass.
It seems I couldnt escape the tagging this year, I thought I was out but got tagged a few days ago so here it is:
1. If you couldnt tell from above, all things Batman are my favorites in the super hero department, they pretty much always have been since I can remember. Yes this means Bruce Wayne/Batman is my favorite super hero, Dick Grayson/Robin is my favorite sidekick and Barbara Gordon/Batgirl is my favorite female superhero.
2. Picking a favorite song is like asking me to pick a favorite MGS game or if I like pizza or Mt. Dew better. There are so many songs I love for different reasons but if I had to pick just ONE that stirs up emotions like a tender kiss from the girl you love and at the sametime rocks your socks off its gotta be this
3. More favorite stuff; my favorite books of all time are The Lord of the Rings. The way I see it there is nothing more indepth, yet simple but epic all at once. Seriously, if you find yourself bored over the winter and want a beautifully written book that captures the true essence of story telling at its finest, pick this up, you wont regret it!
4. I have a tradition, every fall (starting in Nov.) I watch the entire Mobile Suit Gundam Wing series followed by the OVA, Endless Waltz on Christmas Day (when it takes place.)
5. Now that I own my all time favorite series, that tradition will be extended to watching it immediately after, starting Christmas Day.
If you recall I promised to post the poem I wrote. The poem had to be a romantic one and for inspiration I drew from a couple I know quite well. I was inspired by the insurmountable trust and understanding these two have for eachother. You can just tell each has a great need for the other and the level of intimacy they share is daunting, this really moved me and gave me the perfect material to be inspired for in writing a romantic poem, so here it is-enjoy!
She Walks Alone in Darkness...No More
What lies over dead leaves?
Can it be the love and tears of days anew?
Not tears of sorrow but of joy, for only one has turned her grief to alleviation
Through a winding river filled with deep chasms, summer dreams were stolen
The best of days mixed with the worst of days
Can thou hold onto such sadness and not bleed from thorns of despair?
O! but in the coldness of her winter, warm hands hold her like spring
For if the moon vanished and the sun shone on the shores never again, he would not forsake her
Nothing but love and tenderness float for him in a sea of blue
As red embers sway over skin so fair, her feelings shall not change no matter which way the wind may blow.
Well I hope you guys enjoyed it and I'll let you know next time if I won!
