Recently downloaded the Third Age: Total War mod and i must say it is a really fun addition to the Total war series.
The units are basic and few between meaning it is straight into the action from the get go of a battle. This adds less micro management than the original game and is simply about arcady and big reinactments of the LoTR battles 
They also left a nice selection of units and factions to choose from and even included the Mumakil and Ents Although so far the Mumakil are becoming a pain in the arse to take down.. 2 Units of Mumakil (about 12 total) managed to destroy 2 Units of Elve spearmen (Bout 300 men) 1 unit of Archers (150men) and a unit of ents(think around 
without taking a single casaullty.
But i was actually very impressed with the mod, alot of work clearly went into it and it looks great, like it belongs in the game. I wasn't expecting this much attention to detail from modding, But i am definatly gonna try out more mods from here on.
