Well it may seem odd but there are a couple of things that make me think that Tim Kring may have in some way been influenced by Yu Yu Hakusho. The first being that Niki's disorder plays out a lot like Sensui's (the fracturing of thier psychosis and whatnot) I know that could just be a coincedence so for now we will just have to wait and see what happens. As for the second of the reasons: Bob had asked his daughter Elle if she had been praticing her sharp-shooting skills when she responded with a familiar looking "spirit gun" poised finger that shot out electricity, which of course looks a lot like ki. Niether of these points are too terribly convincing but I really just wanted to get this out there and see what you all think.

I finally finsihed Orson Scott Card's masterpiece The Enders series (Enders Game, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind) I wrote of my thoughts on the second book and now I will continue my thoughts on the third and fourth. I must say that they are briliantly crafted and the characters are wonderful. Every one is differant and relateable in thier own way. More than that though, the story is of a grander scale which describes human nature as a destroyer and what we must do to remedy it. This is largely shown through the many characters interactions and after the second books we start to drift away soley from Enders point of view as we explore Miro and Peters as well as others, many of whom seem to be extensions of ender himself. We also read of an alternate story line that takes place at the same time that ultimately, in the fourth book, converges into the main plot. This plot being that Lustania (the planet on which our protagonists lie) will soon be destroyed by use of an ultimate destruction type device that has been sent by congress due to what they believe is an unavoidable plague that is carried by the people of the planet. The story is of Ender and his children, as well as wife and sister who work to save the people of Lustania, including a race of aliens known as the Piggies as well as the Hive Queen of the buggers whom were thought to be wiped out in the first book. There are many thought provoking issues delt with in the series, many of which I can not begin to describe. If you like books that make you think then check out this amazing series. i will continue to describe the books at a later date until satisfaction has been reached. I hope to allow the reader of this blog the realize how great these books really are and yearn to read them.

I will now go on record here as saying that I am completely against anything Harry Potter. I say this mostly because for some unknown reason there are basically entire nations that obsess over anything Harry Potter related and yet it is completely undeserving. There are so many wonderful, amazingly well written books out there and yet barely ever get read, especially in todays society in which it has become more and more rare to see someone, young or old, reading a book that isn't of course Harry Potter. This as well as the fact that J.K. Rowling is insanely rich and yet still attempts to draw out every single penny from her undeservingly adoring fans through overpriced books and merch. This may have to do with the publisher as well but at this point both parties are at fault. It may have been smart to push the first novel as strongly as it was simply because you can never be too sure whether your success will be short lived but with all of the following novels it is simply ridiculous and I would hope that you people would be smart enough to realize that she is not the only author out there. Once again I will say that there are so many great books out there to be read that even I myself have not yet read. and Alan Rickaman is awesome. Snape kills Dumbledore!

Update - this is the simple reason for that original "revision" comment I put in the title as it is easy to look into more than what was written (also note that I put this in the category Opinion) First and foremost I never said in any form that the author wasn't worthy of praise for her writing talents as she is in fact a good author. As for the books themselves I only mentioned that they were undeserving of so much praise (which I still hold to be true) not that they themselves were poorly written. I merely meant to imply my distaste for those who would stand in line to pay $60 for a book in a series they only started reading due to the immense numbers of others who had done the same (given in to societal expectations) and although I know that this can't necessarily be drawn from my remarks and that it is often hard to understand intent in simple writing, I obviously never meant to say that ALL Harry Potter fans don't read other authors, in fact this would be quite stupid of me to say considering I personally have friends who read both Harry Potter books as well as many others. and as for my "biased thoughts", all opinions are biased as they are based on your own life experiences although I will say mine were a little rash. also were the books ever planned to retail at $60 before they (again both the author and the distributor) new that such a large audience was willing to pay such a price??? The answer, I think, is no. If J.K. Rowling was as she says she was before the books were written (by this I meen poor) then why would you risk alienating people from your last chance at success with such high prices? With this I could be wrong and of course the pricing scheme may have nothing to do with the author herself although I can only assume she has some rights to her own works. Alan Rickman is still awesome! and Snape kills Dumbledore...again
