I leave the forums for a few weeks and before long look what happens. Since I last blogged I've ended up being the leader of yet another dead union, as if the IWU wasn't enough. This one is a union where people share their gaming woes and rant themselves silly, its a bit negative but it could have been fun. Sadly the union has failed to even find enough members to start, and the leader pulled out leaving me to deal with the mess. I'm not quite sure how it happened but I seem to have become a magnet for failed unions and inactivity. Mr Bad Luck must be following me around.
Its been a while since Mage_Of_Valour came up with a grand idea for a union and back then it seemed all so simple to keep a union like IWU a float. Today I resigned as leader of the union, it was long overdue and I guessI had known from the start that it'd end up this way. After posting multiple times in forum reqruitment and trying all I could to get the IWU of the ground, it has all been for naught. I've finially cut my ties and left it to rot without a even single active member.
To be honest I don't feel any remorse for what I've lost, in fact quite the opposite, I suddenly have the free time I've always wanted and I hope to fuel that energy into something that isn't so helpless. Although I'm not quite sure what my new time waster will be, I'm quite sure that I'll at least have fun. I'll probably end up as an officer of a union because I work better as a mod then a Leader but who knows, only time can tell.
Right, with the Union stuff outta the way, whats left....News.
I've recently finished my Ucas University Applicaton and already I have a reply asking for an interview at Teeside University. They want to see my art portfolio... difficult thing since I don't have one. I guess I just need to consult my tutor and see what I can throw together.
I've bought some tickets for *metalers collective gasp* The Kerrang! Tour, yeahthats right. It has one of the worst lineups I've ever seen: Coheed & Cambria, Fightstar, Madina Lake and Circus Survive. Not to mention the fact that Kerrang! Is one of my most hated magazines of all time.'So why are you even going?' I hear you ask, well the answer is simple... Peer pressure. I'm not one to usually be pulled into gigs that I don't want to go to see. This time is no different, why? Because not only are me and my friends going to see the quite good Coheed & Cambria. We're also going to be wearing 'I HATE Madina Lake' T-shirts, I'm grinning at the very idea. Sparks are gonna fly and who knows, despite being bands I don't like, I might have a really good time. Watch this space for the results.
I've alsobeen pleasently supprised to find that I have a new emblem 'Artistic Genius'. I've also dumped a couple of unions and am in the process of creating a new sig. Phew, that just about wraps things up. More soon, but until then, happy posting people.
The sun beat down on the cracked earth with an orange glow, it illuminated the nearby hillsides and set up a lovely lens flare on my television screen. The badlands were wonderfully picturesque and made the perfect backdrop for the hunt. Tapping the L2 button I crouch as I sneak over the crest of the hill. I draw my bow and put tension on the string, there she is. I slowly move the cross hair to keep it pointed at the white wolf's head and sneak ever closer. Creeping, creeping and then I see it, the message in the info bar "The white wolf is in range, put an arrow into its skull to bring it down!" Suddenly at that exact same moment the wolf turns, it's moving away. It took forever to sneak up to this one and not wanting to go through it all again I moved my cursor and released the arrow. I hit it in the neck. I'd consider the neck to be a lethal place to hit, but the game disagrees and to my abject misery the wolf bolts into the bushes "You spooked the white wolf, try hunting it again somewhere else..." After going to Empire and venting my rage by scalping a few faceless goons and unloading rifle clips into a great deal more, I sigh. Oh well better luck next time.
Considering what to do next I head to the rebel camp to continue with the main story. About forty minutes later I've hijacked a train, freed some Indians, killed Hoodoo, shot up his corpse and played some more Texas hold'em. Opening the menu originally to save my game, I open the game stats to see my head shot count and discover that I've quite shockingly completed 78 percent of the game. After some quick finger counting and a slight headache I worked out that I'd completed well over 30 percent of Gun in under an hour. Then it dawned on me that (face-palm moment) Gun is a really short game, in fact could be one of the shortest PS2 games I've ever played. It got me to thinking, games have been getting shorter and shorter of recent, Gun, Tomb Raider, Gears of War, Snowblind even Beyond Good & Evil. All said games are real fun with involving decent gameplay but are just devoid of length and replay value. So why ruin all that hard work by making the game shorter? Is it the deadlines? Budget limits?A sad attempt at making you buy more gamesor just plain laziness.
