On Sunday afternoon i went out and bought this game.. i've never played an MGS game before and everywhere seems to say the series is fantastic. So i brought the game home and gave it a go.. It's now Wednesday night and i've put over 17 hours hours into playing.. this game is INCREDIBLE! Even without playing the previous games and not fully understanding all the characters relationships, the emotion that i've felt is unparalled in any other game. The only regret i have is that i havn't been able to experience the previous MGS games because if they are anything like this one.. then i've really missed out. The gameplay, the story, the characters, environments, the variety in weapons and their customization.. everything is top notch! I can fully see why this game was given a 10 here at GS in their review. The cutscenes do go on for a while, however that is the reason you actually feel something when bad things happen to certain characters. I wont put any spoilers in.. however that cut scene with Raiden and Vamp was AWESOME! Im not usually into the "sneak" games. I prefer to run in shooting. However in MGS4 you can sneak around or run in guns blazing. I have actually found a new love in sneaking past enemies instead of trying to kill everything in sight. However taking out enemies is still just as satisfying as it is in other games with lots of different ways to approach situations.

I've found that i havn't been able to play games on the PS3 in long sessions, normally a couple hours and i need a break. However for MGS its been the opposite.. i just can't stop playing. Definitely my GOTY choice for PS3.. before i would have said GTAIV, but after playing 17 hours of MGS4, this will get my vote for sure. I have no idea how long is left of the game, but i plan to play it through a couple times and try out online. I was going to get Battlefield: Bad Company.. however they were sold out and also had my eye on this. So i'll be picking that game up next.. but im so glad i got MGS4!

For those three other people that havn't got MG4 yet.. GET IT NOW!
There were quite a few games that have my interest and are looking awesome/interesting. Here are some of them:
Resident Evil 5: Battling zombies.. its always fun. And with newer game engines, updating graphics and more features this is one to keep an eye one.
Resistance 2: Multiplayer with a LOT of players.. but im looking forward to more awesome single player. The online is just a bonus.
Fallout3: From the small amount of footage i've seen i was expecting more.. i wasn't too impressed. We'll have to wait and see how the game turns out.. although here in Australia we're going to get a "tonned down" version because of "explicit drug use". Bah.
Far Cry 2: Looking fantastic. Watch any gameplay footage and you'll see why im looking forward to it.
Flower: Looks.. interesting. While it doesn't look like it'll offer much in the way of gameplay variety, it is a new and fresh idea so im curious to how it will turn out.
Little Big Planet: Another new game concept which focuses on a community to keep new ideas rolling out. Basically that means the replayability is as long as everyones ideas.
Red Alert 3: Looked dissapointing from the moment i started reading about it.. SAGE engine, ridiculous ideas, changing the original concepts and taking it all way to overboard just makes the game lose its appeal. The original RA was an amazing game. It was a serious mood. The sequel was a "fun" version. I was hoping RA3 would go back to the more serious tone of the original RA, but no.. more of the "fun". Mechs should be left in the C&C universe.. not the RA universe.
Spore: Another original idea.. looks good but im worried that with the game changing genres so much each one will offer very limited gameplay. For example the RTS phase. The game is looking good and i'll be watching to see the end result.
Dawn of War 2: While i prefer COH to DOW, this sequel is looking incredible. A lot of people agree. This will be one game that causes a stir when it is released.
Brothers in Arms: Hells highway: Yes.. another WW2 game. But i like WW2 games and this ones looking great.
Call of Duty: World At War: Another upcoming WW2 game.. only this time set in the Pacific Theatre so it'll be a nice change. The game is looking great, despite a lot of fans having negative comments on the game because its being developed by Treyarch (the makers of COD3).
Star Wars: The Force Unleased: Bout time we get another Star Wars game. One that is looking so good too. Finally we can actually move objects around and crush those pesky storm troopers.
This could go on for quite a while so i better stop.. there are other games like 'Left 4 Dead', 'Tom Clancy's End War', 'Killzone 2' and others that are looking great.
What are your favourites from this years E3?
PS3 introduced trophies with the last firmware update.. but still most already released games havn't taken advantage of this and released patches for their games. Im only 50% through GTAIV (im addicted to Battlefield: Bad Company demo) and when i started playing GTAIV again i had to download a 19MB patch. To me, i thought that was going to introduce trophies. Sadly it didn't.. are the developers going to both implementing them in games they have already released? It would be a good way to get more people to go back and play through their games again.
I've heard that only two previously released games have trophies.. its not a big deal, but it is a nice extra thing to have.
