Not that there's any snow here. It's cold and sunny all the time, quite nice actually, if you're not the type of person who easily freezes.

This is going to be a short blog, and please forgive me for not checking out your blogs right now. In addition to the ridiculous Christmas errands I've had to run this week (which cost me more money than I generally care to spend and annoyed the hell out of me), my father is in the hospital now. At first, we thought he just had a common cold or something, then he kept complaining about backaches...long story short:

He has a colitis.

His pulse is at 41.

His kidney numbers (sorry, I couldn't find an adequate translation) are really bad.

And now he has to stay in the clinic in case of kidney failure.

How on earth did that happen?

I don't really know what to think right now...honestly, I don't even know if I'm supposed to tell anyone about this, but I really need to do that right now. I've chosen the happiest of happy places for this blog to make up for the fact that this is not my favourite day this year.

I'll finish with the first half of an e-mail that I received a couple of days ago...it's from one of the language teachers at the Department of English. The man's a native speaker, and I'm perfectly aware that I am not, but check this out, you just have to admire the s.tyle here (the content is not that important):

"As I had already told you that c.lass is to be canceled tomorrow, c.lass will still be canceled tomorrow as I just found out that the lecture I was supposed to give (on my Ph.D. before I hand it in on that day) was not going to take place tomorrow. However, I just found this out but will still cancel c.lass tomorrow as it would only cause more confusion to have half of the c.lass show up."

I just loved that. Brilliant s.tyle And the man's job is to teach me how to write essays!

Anyway, that's pretty much all that's on my mind right now, so I hope you'll enjoy the few days until Christmas and of course the holidays!

Hugs and syntax,

Ramona

I hope your dad makes a speedy recovery Ramona. Maybe you should correct that note and send it back to him. It is very stressful handing in the big PhD project though so maybe he is just not in his right mind at the moment. I never would have guessed you are not a native English speaker. So what is your native language?

Ramona, Hugs and kisses to you. I hope your daddy will get better soon.

Thanks, I hope so too...I only heard my Mom say "kidney failure" and I freaked out, I really hope that doesn't happen...

About the guy, well, he's a little ill at the moment too so I guess that's part of the reason. My native language (since you asked) is German. I've been learning English for eleven years now.

Sorry 'bout your dad, it's an awful time to have him in the hospital... not that any time is good, but still, here's to his health.

Wow... that was confusing

Wow Ramona...I wasn't expecting a blog like this. I'm so sorry about your dad. So is you're dad going to be OK? I know he's being watched at the clinic now...to me that seems better than a hospital ICU...but I don't know how you do things there. Either way, I hope he'll be home by Christmas.

I have no idea where your prof was going with that.

Anyway, *lots of hugs*. Love you, and I'm praying for your dad.

Thanks to all of you...I'm going home today and later this afternoon, I'll visit my Dad, so I can see how he is. It's just awful to hear things over the phone instead of being there. I guess he'll be fine, I just really want to know what's wrong.

Thanks to all of you! I'll try to write a new blog tomorrow. My Dad's on "vacation" from the hospital right now, meaning that over the weekend, he only needs to spend the nights there. He's in fact much better and there's a realistic hope that he'll be released on Monday morning. So I guess the worst part is over...still, it was a pretty big shock and I just want everything to go back to normal ASAP.
