I love you.
Even more than Killzone 2.
So I got Killzone 2 and Resident Evil 5 last week (KZ2 on Wednesday and RE5 on Saturday) And I have done nothing else ever since.
This blog isn't just about RE5, I'm also going to be giving my KZ2 impressions. But, I've only played KZ2 Wednesday - Friday last week and once on Monday, the rest of the time was spent with RE5. And don't get me wrong, KZ2 is ****ing awesome, but I've just been more attracted to RE5.
Since I'm going to be babbling on and on about my RE5 accomplishments, I'll do my shorter KZ2 impressions first:
I'm not far at all in the single player campaign, I think I'm at the third area or someting, idk, and that's not because I don't like it, it's because the multiplayer is a million times better. The SP has this constant feel of sheer epic...epicness
and it's very very fun with SP alone, but in complete honesty, when I play the SP, I always think "Why am I doing this when the multiplayer is WAY more fun?" and it is. The MP is just so...for lack of a better word, GOOD. The progression system is so deep and you constantly get rewards and just the way it's all set up...it just all adds up to this unique feeling of accomplishment, and it rewards you in a very clever way so that when you finish one match, you just HAVE to play another match and then another one and another one and another one, at least for me.
Overall I am very proud of my purchase of KZ2. But the big question is, is it my new favorite multiplayer game like I expected it to be? well, I like it better than competative in Resistance 2, but still nothing compares to the king of multiplayer games in my world, Team Fortress 2. Still, right now I'm gonna be playing more KZ2 than R2 or TF2. And to sum up my thoughts on the single player, I wasn't to hyped for the SP in particular, but it ended up being an FPS of very high quality. I absolutely LOVE the FPS cover system, as well as most of the other unique mechanics. I haven't beaten the SP or reached the top rank in MP, but is I had to give it a score right now, easily 9/10.
Now, for the real reason I wrote this blog:
RESIDENT EVIL 5.
I love you RE5. I ****ing love you.
Already that "Top 25 Games List" is obsolete, because I'm putting this at number 7, after Shadow of the Colossus and before R&C UYA.
How much do I love it? let's see:
- 3/14 - Got the game
- 3/15 - played all day
- 3/16 - played all day along with KZ2
- 3/17 - played all day
- 3/18 - Beat the game on Normal
- 3/19 - Played through the game again on Amateur and beat it in one day. Got infinate ammo for the first magnum (forgot name of it) and infinate ammo for M3 shotgun, got and fully upgraded the Handcannon
-3/20 - Played Mercenaries all day, unlocked ALL stages and ALL characters. Got infinate ammo for Handcannon
-3/21 - Played all day, beat the game on Veteran. Fully upgraded VZ61 and get infinate ammo, get Gattling gun with infinate ammo, fully upgraded Ithica shotgun and infinate ammo, purchased Hydra and upgraded it almost to maximum.
majini go boom
I just LOVE RE5. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.
I can't even express my love for it besides hitting caps lock and saying "I LOVE RE5" over and over again in the way that I just did. ![]()
Simply put, it's the best co-op experience ever imo, along with Resistance 2.
Random facts:
KZ2:
- Favorite map is Thsaris Depot (however it's spelled)
- I play as a medic
- I am the 5th rank, whatever it's called
- I prefer playing as Helghast
- Favorite MP weapon is shotgun, but since medics can't use the shotgun, I use the Helghast rifle (whatever it's called)
- Favorite mode is capture and hold
- I ALWAYS join/create a squead. For every. Single. Match.
RE5:
- Favorite chapters are 1 and 2
- I prefer playing as Chris. Why? GATTLING GUN!!!
- Favorite stages in Mercenaries are the ship deck and the missle launch area
- I use Wesker (S.T.A.R.S.) in Mercenaries and I don't understand why people say Wesker (Midnight) is better.
- I think the final boss is BS without infinate ammo
- The coop AI is retarded ![]()
- My favorite enemies are Chainsaw Majini
- Favorite boss is
***SPOILER***
- Professional mode is LAME.
aaaand yeah I'm gonna go back to playin RE5 ![]()
Comments
nukku - isn't KZ2 ranked only?? if so, then I have some work to do before I'll get to play with you
- It's best to have completely different weapons expect for your handgun. For example, one player has a handgun, a shotgun, and a rifle, while the other player has a handgun, a machine gun, and a magnum.
- Always upgrade firepower before anything else.
-Assign weapons to the D-pad so they're easily accssesable. Do this by putting them in a cross in your inventory.
- Kepp your eye out for treasures and BSAA emblems
- Don't waste your points on buying figures in bonus features, save it for after you beat the game and buy infinate ammo for your upgraded weapons.
- Upgrade these weapons to unlock speacial weapons:
Ithica shotgun upgraded unlocks Hydra shotgun
VZ61 machine gun upgraded unlocks Gatling Gun (for Chris only) (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
The first rifle upgraded unlocks the bow gun (for Sheva only) (ONE HIT KILLS)
the first magnum upgraded unlocks the HANDCANNON (highly highly highly recommended)
and if you and your brother ever get stuck, I can help you out
Resident Evil 5 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Killzone 2.
Killzone is a generic FPS with great graphics. However RE5 is still prettier due to art design and its much more fun/addictive.
I'll have to play you some time
keir - I wouldn't call KZ2 generic, sure it doesn't bring anything new to the genre, but it pushes the standards. Especially the MP.
stewie - yeah sorry about that, how many years until you're 17?? either way, I'm 14 and I play tons and tons of M rated games, and it's not like shooting up some zombies is going to change who you are just because you're not old enough to play them.
Besides, it's not about being 17 to play M games, it's about actually being mature, that's what I would tell you're parents.
blazin - hey, what can I say, we all have our opinions...

If they had been fixed I too would have loved RE5 because I have loved all the ones that have went before.
I have also finished KZ2 twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed it both times. There is a lot to be said to a game that is "playable" from the outset.
Such a shame about RE5
