Well normally, I don't DO the "blog thing" but I've encountered something that I just feel like speaking on.

If you're a PS3 owner, you've probably no doubt heard of the 2.40 firmware situation that's been going on as of late. If you haven't, lemme give you a brief run on it: Sony released (I believe around July 2) the new 2.40 firmware that suppose to add optional in-game music (for games that support it, that is), and what's called a "trophy" system (that too, for game that support it), and I think along w/ adding a clock--kinda like the PSP has it--just to name a few of the features that I know of (I didn't get to download, so I don't know of any other features just yet, beside in-game messaging--I think).

Apparently, this has been stuff that many PS3 owners have been wanting for some time and Sony listened.

Fast-forward to, hmm, I'd say around July 2, apparently reports had started to come out about some users possibly experiencing bricking of their systems--not a lot of users, mind you, but clearly enough for Sony to make a decision to temporarily pull the firmware. this was I assume as of later that 2nd of July, which was stated (and posted up) on the official Playstation blog site (if you're curious to see how it insanely unfolds, here's the link: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/07/02/firmware-v240-status/ ).

.....can we say, "all hell broke loose"??

Because that's exactly what happened. So why, you may ask, does this bug the hell out of me?? Simple really, what pissed me off was the vast number of retardedly immature post of people whinning to Sony about 'what's taking you guys so long?', 'I WANT 2.40 NOW, SONY'.....blah, blah, blah--I can honestly say the list truly goes on. Don't get me wrong, my heart geniunely went out to the few that honestly started having issue w/ their system after they installed 2.40--and for those people to voice there opinion is totally understandable. But a vast majority of these numbnuts that were mainly complaining was the ones that didn't have the chance to download it before it was taken off the server! What baffled me the most however, is that most of these fools actually expected--over this lovely 4th of July extended weekend--that Sony would just hurry up and fix it, then slap it back on the server or give them a play-by-play update of their findings.....must be nice living in PerfectLand? Hmm...well, back in 'real-world', uh, it's called combing through hundreds of codes trying to figure out the possible culprit. In 'real-world', it's called these guys and girls that bust their asses on writing codes M-F have 'real lives' outside of their job (like any of us 'working' grown folk do...) and they earned the right to spend it w/ family and friends on the 4th of July.

I mean, really, the nerve of some of these people to me just seemed unreal.....it's like all I keep thinking--at least until I finally got fed up and voiced my 2 cents (won't tell y'all my blog name juust yet, LOL, but trust I'll give you hint that I didn't start until after 1627...)--was 'do most of these KIDS (even if all of them weren't they sure as hell were acting the part) even understand what goes into pulling a program together?'. Clearly, not--because if they did, they'd know that these people (developers and programmers) bust their asses to make sure they come up with a quality product. Are there times when things don't work out as planned?.....of course! Even no matter how much something is thoroughly tested it's not abnormal for something to still (freakishly) pop and cause issue. Programming is never a 100% sure thing and it's naive to even think that way. What's even more naive is that if these same people actually thought the problem would be 'magically' solved over the weekend. Sony has definitely got more than their leftover barbeque on their plates come Monday.....so we'll see (I pray for the ones that's gotta come back and read all that come Monday morning....yikes!).

But seriously still, this whole rabid fanboy/fangirl counterculture of gamers have got to stop.....it's really making the rest of us logical (and maybe sometimes sane, LOL) gamers look extremely bad.....

Some people just don't have opinions. Like PumpkinBoogie.
PumpkinBoogie must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could PumpkinBoogie possibly have for not rating a single film?
