I haven't played video games since January, so shoot me. And dammit, MvC2 had to come back in microtransactions. I didn't trust selling it through PayPal because I'm not familiar with that. That was easy money that could have been mine
However it looks like RE: Code Veronica on GC is in demand. It's quite rare and I have it. Thanks to the Wii being backwards compatible, its value is up (but not near the original 50 I paid for it).
Speaking of bc, I believe the new PS3 slim version will have it. The slim PS2 was backwards compatible, but overheated after 4-6 hours. If that's the case I'm thinking of buying one (not for the overheating though lol). Don't moan, I know I know, I've been thinking of buying a PS3 since September of 2006 when I first became a member. The money isn't an issue now, it's just I'm not sure if I want to buy video games anymore let alone play them. I'm even contemplating posting this blog.
And who ever thought this would happen. Sony is trying to get rid of PS3s like banks are trying to get rid of foreclosed homes
This desperate attempt to move inventory makes it obvious that a new PS3 is on the way; also obvious, that Sony is in trouble.
Oh and Happy 4th of July

It's ok, lol. I haven't been gaming at all for a while either.
I hope the slim PS3 could come cheaper (but then again, the PSP Go is gonna be expensive)
Supposedly the 360 Elite is going to become the new 360 Pro (don't know if the black color is making the transition, or just the 120g HDD).
This generation has been a bit of a let-down in terms of highly aggressive pricing for me

"Where have u been , remember me ? missed you 4 ages "
Long story, but today isn't yesterday right? I'd rather not talk about it.

"A slim PS3 will be cheaper for Sony to make. I don't think they'll pass that savings on to the customer at introduction. At the earliest? The holidays."
That's true.
"This generation has been a bit of a let-down in terms of highly aggressive pricing for me "
Also true. I used to want that just for the sake of being a cheapskate. However if Sony did this earlier on they would have been in a much better situation than they are now.
Right now PCs are the best of course. Based on the pricing of computer hardware similar to that in the consoles, the consoles should be even less than what they are selling for now.
I want to see that price drop, though. Biggest reasons?
1. Force Microsoft to lower their pricing OR sweeten their bundles. I'd like to see the Pro or Elite come with that stupid WiFi adapter, for instance. Also, seeing at least *basic* online play come to Live Silver would be fantastic.
2. Force Nintendo to finally do the same. Lower their pricing, make their bundle better, whatever.
3. Make the PS3 more attractive as a gaming platform when the userbase increases. This will further cement this generation as being the multi-platform generation, making sure there's a constant fight for the foreseeable future, and maybe get Bobby Kottick to finally shut up!
PC still wins out; you can do real work on it, pursue hobbies (photography, geneology, make music, movies, whatever), you have multiple choices for anything you could possibly want (voice chat, digital distribution software, etc), and we've got the biggest variety of revenue models for games to be played under (full purchase, subscriptions, free with ads, free with micros, just plain free, etc).
Hmm... dunno. Consoles don't sell in anywhere near the same quantities, don't have super bulk discounts, don't have 15 different OEM's trying to sell basically the same product, and its all custom hardware pretty much.
Of course, PC's don't get royalties from games or other software, are sold on razor-thin profit margins, have to sell upgrades and extended warranties to improve profits, and have to constantly compete with more competitors than they know what to do with. Oh, and they have to pay the Windows Tax on top of hardware costs, plus they're more likely to be hand-assembed.
Its kind of comparing apples to oranges. One is hyper-specialty, the other is super-general (even if you get it souped-up for gaming). One appeals to a very specific market, the other is everything to everyone because what you do is more dependant on the software than anything else... I know a $400 gaming computer is not going to be as good for gaming as a PS3 or 360 Pro/Elite!
"I know a $400 gaming computer is not going to be as good for gaming as a PS3 or 360 Pro/Elite!"
A $400 gaming computer could play Asteroids or Pacman lmao. Well if you bought a refurbished computer, maybe it could do more.
@shiben
That's one of the important reasons why I am technically gone.
My last computer was $400-500 and I could run older games decently
Hmm... went to Dell and configured an Inspiron for a little over $400 that's pretty decent. All it would need is a nicer video card. AMD 3x core, 2g RAM, 64bit Vista plus the ability to upgrade to Windows 7 later... Its... surprisingly nice!
That's always the trick when figuring out something's value - you have to go by the individual's wants and needs.
