Someone described this as Homer Simpson in a Segal movie.
That sounds like a two dimensional Hollywood B-Movie. I prefer to explain it as a three dimensional Segal movie with a great plot, brilliant dialogue and actors who can actually act.
In short a group of Germans take over the huge corporate building Nakatomi Plaza to steal $600 million in negotionatable bearabonds.
The action is delivered hard and fast with a slick, seamless, text book Hollywood directing. The characters are brilliant, Bruce Willis playing his character to perfection and the show stealing Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber, the smart, sophisticated European thief disguising his act as terrorism.
A big budget bang you really should see.

Too slow to start.
This seems to be a thing with Brian De Palma films. I really have to get round to seeing his new film because Scarface also started on the slow start and ended brilliantly.
For the first hour-hour and a half this film is a dreadful chick flick about some awful whiny Texan or wherever with a splash of soft porn in the shower and a frightening devout Christian beating her up.
The plot begins with the title character, Carrie White, having her period in the shower. Yeah, Stephen King is original. So all the girls pick on her because her Christian mum never told her about “the birds and the bees�. As a result all the girls get a weeks worth of detention with the P.E teacher and end up hating her. (Deep breath) So they put together a plan to get the handsome bloke to take her to the ball were one of the girls boyfriends messes up the ballot for the ball so Carrie and the handsome bloke win the ball king and queen so John Travolta’s character can pour a bucket of pig blood over her on stage and humiliate her. Nice.
You may around about this time ask how all this makes it a horror. As I said in the intro Brian De Palma likes to set up a great ending. You see the whiny Texan lass is a physic possessing “Telekinesis�.
So Brian De Palma draws the bucket of pig blood seen out really long, throws in an assortment of camera shots you only use in **** music videos, i.e split screen. This is were Sissy Spacek/x shines as she melts on stage, eyes huge, covered in blood being laughed at by everyone, enjoy watching her kill them all.
Then she goes home gets knifed by her mum, so she crucifies her with flying cutlery and destroys her house with herself in it.
I’m not going to ruin the absolute ending, just keep the entrance to the toilet clean and wear a nappie.

As with my good friend Calicow, I put behind all the bad reviews it had been given, I felt Ron Howard would do a good job and the plot would be just as brilliant as the book. Poor me.

As with my good friend Calicow, I put behind all the bad reviews it had been given, I felt Ron Howard would do a good job and the plot would be just as brilliant as the book. Poor me.
I just want to clear something up now, all the actors in the film rock, but they just didn't have the book's dialogue translated to film nearly good enough and as a result one of my favourite actors, Jean Reno, gave a **** performance.
It was rushed, they should have made it 4 hours long and put in all the small details that made the book so special, but we ended up with a jerky learning curve, for instance, Fache meets Langdon, questions, Sophie appears ,they run off. That's not unfolding the plot line, that's blasting it open with napalm.
Also **SPOILER WARNING** they made it that Teabig was no longer the charming, quirky Brit who did jokes about Macbeth and his todger, just some strange, eccentric man who was obviously the teacher.
This film butchers the book, it's O.K but maintain your love for the classic book and don't watch this film.

I loved Tim Burtons version but this one rocked. Very back to it's root this level headed installement rfreshe a tired franchise.
Liam Nelson was great and a bit overkill putting Michel Caine as the butler but whatever.

I loved Tim Burtons version but this one rocked. Very back to it's root this level headed installement rfreshe a tired franchise.
Liam Nelson was great and a bit overkill putting Michel Caine as the butler but whatever.
The plot is smart and the twists and turns made this an ultraintelligent action romp.
It has a superb sub-plot and an underlining theme of facing your fears and correcting your sole work wonders here.
Christopher Nolan, well done on this superb little masterpeice
