For everything bad that happens something good always follows. Take my story of what happened to me a few hours ago as an example.
Before I get to the story I need to give you a small bit of backstory. We own one HD TV and it's in the living room. The TV in my room is tube TV from the mid 2000s.
I finally bought a new AC adapter for my Wii. I plug it in and everything is going great. I get Punch-Out and put it in about to play and then I notice there isn't any video but I'm getting sound. I unplug my AV cables and plug in my 360 cables to see if maybe the ports on my TV are out since I plug my 360 cables in front and my Wii cables in the back. I get video on my 360 so that confirmed it was my Wii. The AV cables on my Wii are fine so I can only assume that when the lightning struck it took out my AC adapter and the video card. It's still going to cost $75 to repair it.
BUT! There is some good news in this mishap. When I was looking behind my TV I noticed that there were component Cable ports. Perplexed I put the component cables from my 360 into them and I got picture. It didn't look much different from what it did before but after I put in Prototype (oh yeah I got Prototype, it's ok) my jaw hit the floor. There was a HUGE difference. It's only in 480p but compaired to the SD I was playing on before it looks amazing.
Because this game is friggin' addicting.
The Sims and I have had a strange past. I was the first person in my family to play the original game. I borrowed it from a friend, showed my family, and my mom and sister were instantly hooked as they bought the game the following day. I played that original Sims game a lot but when the expansions starting coming out I lost interest. I can't remember why but I just didn't want to play the game anymore.
Then the Sims 2 came out and my mom and sister bought it the day it was released and have been playing it ever since, that was almost 4 years ago. i only ever played Sims 2 once and couldn't get into it for whatever reason.
Now the Sims 3 is out and just like with Sims 2 my mom and sister bought it the day it came out. I sat down and played the game for almost 3 hours straight. The open world is brilliantly designed so now it never loaded when you want to go to the store or visit a neighbor, it looks great graphically, and it's extremely addicting.
So far I've put about 10 hours into it in over a weeks period. I really love the game and I can see why this franchise has sold over 100 million copies since it's release in 2000.
A friend came over today and I had asked him to bring his Wii AC cable along with him just so I could test my Wii with it in hopes that maybe my AC cable was broken and not the Wii itself. Well, everything worked out and my hunch was right. I plugged his AC cable into my Wii and the Wii came on. I got my Punch-Out out of the system and on Friday I'm going to GameStop and buying a new AC cable for a measly $20
. I'm very happy.
