Hey Friends:

This blog is specifically designed for my on line friends here who support Obama on Tuesday. This blog will be your chance to make your case for your guy in a reasoned argument.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!

Here are the parameters.

1. I am a single issue voter. The only thing I care about in any national election, post 9/11, is what candidate is going keep this country safe from murderous, Islamist, pyschopaths who would destroy anyone or any nation who doesn't agree with their twisted world view. I feel strongly that this is the only issue that matters, because the rest of it (education, welfare, abortion, gay right, guns etc. etc.) doesn't matter if they win! In other words, how does your candidate propose to keep this country safe and defeat (notice I said defeat, not placate not compromise with, not negotiate with) the most dangerous enemy this country has ever faced. That's it.

2. You must cite specific policies, and avoid vague, meaningless terms like hope, change, future, charm, charisma. I don't want to hear about what a great speaker he is or how somehow this country "owes this to Black people" (Don't laugh, I have actually had very intelligent people make this argument.

3. You cannot mention George Bush!

There you go. Please PM them to me and I will post them as updates or use the comments section (although I think the format for cutting and pasting from PM would be easier with the stupid new tv.com format. Did I mention I hate the new tv.com format )

This is for you my Obama supporting friends only. To my McCain supporting bretheren here, please don't comment on the blog or turn the comments section into a debate or a flame war. Feel free to PM your responses to me.

I seriously want to hear what you have to say.

PIKE

One word: Allies.

Under the current administration (I didn't mention his name), America has alienated a frightening number of its allies in the war on terror. The current president (again, I didn't mention his name) has damaged America's reputation as a defender of Western values and has promoted the idea that America is a bully who doesn't even follow its own laws (Gitmo, wire tapping, unilateral declarations of war against the will of the UN, etc.). Obama is already regarded as a superstar in every country he has visited and spoken in and would have a much easier time rebuilding the international trust that Dubya (that isn't REALLY his name) shattered. With international allies back on America's side, the national security issue becomes far less difficult to address.

One of many fears I have of McCain being in charge is that one of the four different cancers he's had in recent years becomes malignant again or he has a stroke during one of his infamous bouts of rage. This would leave Palin in charge. Palin is, while I try to keep this civil, less than worldly. She is incapable of holding the reins of an enormous organization like the federal government of the United States of America. She has proven to be so disengenuous and such a blatant equivocator, she cannot be trusted with anything she says.

McCain can tout himself as a maverick all he wants. The reality is he is no different from that guy whose name I'm trying not to mention. Americans cannot continue to follow his example and his "go it alone" philosophy. Obama is proposing to extend a hand to the rest of the world and work out any difficulties (that is NOT "surrender" as the GOP hardliners are touting). McCain is raising his fist and threatening war without end. Which scenario would you feel safer in?

Hoeech, We HAVE "Allies" - the same ones who were in agreement with us that Iraq was in violation of UNITED NATIONS' resolutions, and had been for years. The fact is, we were the only ones who stepped up to the plate and were willing to DO something about it! The only people the United States "alienated" were those who didn't have any guts or gonads to begin with! So who cares?

Who in the world cares about Europe and what the rest of the world thinks of the U.S.??? We all tell our kids (well, most of us) "be individuals and go against the flow if it means standing up for what's unpopular" and yet when it comes to world leadership, there are pansied-ass adults that don't practice what they preach. If you followed at all what happened with Iraq, nearly everyone was on board with us but nobody wanted to step up to the plate and enforce it. Why? Because Europe has become impotent and cowardly, a continent of appeasers and of mediocrity. In the past eight years, we've watched both France and Spain bow to al-Quaida, and these were after attacks on THEIR OWN SOIL. Who wants to be backwards and desolate like Europe, with its socialism and antisemitism? I lived over there during the Clinton years and the same ones detested us then and laughed at us the whole time he was in office, so GET OVER this notion that Bush is the reason why Europe and the rest of the world dislike us! Bush is just a handy excuse because he doesn't align with their raging Socialist values.

Anyway, what good are "Allies" going to do once B.O. gets elected and Iran becomes an even bigger threat? What, do you think they're going to act in America's interest if B.O. is in office, even if he actually took military action against them after an attack? Really? No, if they hated America during Clinton and now the same nations will hate us a year from now. Countries don't send their troops to war on behalf of an ideal because they like another nation's leader. Either they believe in a principal - in this case, the war on terrorism - or they do not. How has Palin "proved to be disengenuous and a blatant equivicator?" What the hell does that mean??? Big words to describe a sophomoric opinion. Your description of her frightening lack of experience and lack of trustworthiness are precisely why we fear B.O., who himself admitted after his 2004 inauguration that he would not seek and indeed was not qualified for the office of Presidency. Ah, but the allure of power and a party willing to groom him changed all that in a hurry. This is the same man who gets caught on a weekly basis lying about his background, his past connections, his preacher, and his record. What a joke. The only reason he's a contender is thanks to the short memories and lack of real knowledge of the meandering herd of moderates in this nation.

P.S. It ought to scare the life out of people in this country (and others) that our worst enemies - those who want to kill us and wipe us off the map - have openly come out and supported Obama for president. Barry has the devil's stamp of approval, but somehow no one is concerned. Makes quite a statement about the rest of his supporters.

Obviously not, and I'm not going to argue with him on your blog, Pike.
