So the unthinkable happened today and the batteries for my launch-day
Wii have ran out. It was a good run and I feel a little sad tossing
those spiffy Panasonic LR6AA Industrial Alkaline batteries away into my
recycle bin. At just under 2 months, I'd say they lasted quite a while.
Ah well... I just stuck in a couple of Kirkland Signature AAs and I'm
good to go again.

To be more environment friendly, you should consider getting rechargable batteries + charger though they can only hold its charge between 25 - 50 times. On the other hand, getting 24-pack Kirkland brand batteries at Costco is more cost effective.

You should have 2 sets of rechargeable batteries, that way you never run out.

As Karayan also chipped in, I'd recommend rechargeables. I have three pairs of 2500 maH energizers that I use, so whenever my 360 controller's batteries go out, I swap them out, set the old ones to charge, and start gaming again - turnaround time is about thirty seconds.

I'm waiting for a 3rd party play and charge unit, similar to 360's for Wii. The one I have for 360 is awesome, never have to worry about batteries again for that.
