I'm going to make a rare stray away from video games for this blog. I noticed in the top corner of Gamespot's site today that Micheal Moore has a new movie coming out. After his attack on Charlton Heston at the end of Bowling for Columbine, I have no respect for this guy. Regardless of your politics, you just don't enter a person's home under false pretenses and verbally assault them in their living room. I wouldn't even do that to Uwe Boll, and that guy's a moron. Besides, the entire premise of the movie was stupid; people aren't supposed to be blamed for their choices, so let's blame the guns instead. Ok, well lets follow that line of thought. Far more people die in car accidents every year than in shootings; let's ban cars. We are pretty much guaranteed to die from lung cancer if we smoke, so we need to ban cigarettes. Overeating and being fat will cause heart disease or any number of health problems, so we need to restrict how much food a person is allowed to eat (that one would kill Moore). Better yet, why don't we just take babies as soon as they are born, put them into a coma, then lock them in a glass cage. That way they will never be able to harm themselves or anyone else. If Micheal Moore had his way, everything he doesn't like would be restricted simply because of a small percentage of the population that chooses to misuse it. Go ahead, Mr. Moore, promote the restriction of our freedom. That's what America is all about, right?

I would have an easier time respecting his freedom of speech if he respected anyone else's. Anyone that disagrees with him is wrong and he verbally abuses them (in the case of Clint Eastwood, after he invited Moore into his home for a completely different discussion). I really don't have any problem with his opinions, just the way he chooses to express them as fact. I just don't like people that tell complete stranger that they are wrong without giving them a chance to defend themselves. I live in America and am not overweight, eat (relatively) healthy, and don't own any guns, but I don't feel as it it is my place to tell everyone they should be like me. On the other hand, I can't see it as anything but a good idea if we decide to restrict guns the way your country has.
if you think the eastwood incident is bad, check out moore's acceptance speech for his 2003 oscar for Bowling. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/8545/
i'm all for free speech, and agree with some of the things he said in that speech about Bush, but when you are given a forum in respect by your colleagues at an honorable event like that, you don't abuse it with tastelessly presented opinions. it was embarrassing to witness.
Sorry, not sure what I was thinking. I changed it.
