After coming across an article online on some of the best multiplayer games ever made, I felt inspired and decided to come up with my own list and narrow down my personal favorite ones.
Nostalgia struck as I recalled some of the best experiences I've had while playing games with friends or family members. Coming up with a list was no small task, as I've played tons of games over the year, but in the end I feel I picked the right ones to compose my top 3:
3) Pokemon Red/Blue versions (GB)

I was in middle school when the Pokemon phenomenon hit so you can be sure I fell victim to the the the Pokemon storm that overtook the world in the 90's. The great thing about these games was that the battling and trading you did with your friends in real life was exactly like what you did in the game. The collecting aspect of the series required you interact with other gamers in order to experience the best of what the game had to offer and I thought that was very cool.
2) Worms:World Party (PS)
Who doesn't love an underdog? Worms is the type of corky game franchise that has enough of a fanbase to warrant sequel after sequel and most recently, an XBL arcade version. I have to give credit to one of my friends in grade school for exposing me to this game which has to be played and given some time before you absolutely fall in love with it. Worms is a turn-based strategy game in which you control war monger and artillery fueled little wormsand a friend take turns blasting the crap out of each other with guns, rifles, grenades and. . . sheep? It's a strange concept, but it is one of the most addictive little games I've ever come across and to this day I'm still a fan. "World Party" is probably the best version I've played since it was packed with customizable teams and included every weapon imaginable in the Worms universe. I recommend everyone who hasn't heard of the series to give it a try, you might be pleasantly surprised.
1) Super Smash Bros: Brawl (Wii)

The Smash series has what I think is coolest concept in the history of games: Put Nintendo's most memorable characters all in one game and have them beat the crap out of one another. Melee held the top spot for years and while I was looking forward to Brawl with avid anticiaption, I didn't think it could surpass its Gamecube predecessor. Boy was I wrong. Brawled included everything you could ever hope for in a sequel, and more. I've been a huge fan of the franchise since the original N64 release and I can say without a doubt that there's no other multiplayer game that I keep coming back to year after year and still have a blast playing it with friend every time I do. This is one of those timeless games that will never get old and will always be fun, and that's hard to say about games nowadays.

In case you haven't played the games and don't know what all they hype is about, the premise is simple:
Basically, at the start of the game you get this little fighting creature called a Pokemon. Then you use that Pokemon to fight and capture other Pokemon. After that, you take those Pokemon and you use them to fight and capture even more Pokemon. This goes on and on, and on and on, until you catch them all and become a Pokemon Master. Just like heroin, you can't get enough of the Pokemon.
