Considering football (soccer) is the primary sport I follow and the current state its in, a lot of the big matches seem to disappoint. Was very pleased the tennis didn't: if you're not following, it was Federer v Roddick in the Wimbledon final. Was really hoping Roddick could win it; not particularly a huge A-Rod fan, but was gutted seeing him lose out in a 5-set epic after all that effort. The win makes Fed the most successful player in Grand Slams ever with fifteen. Greatest of all time? Probably.

According to my dad that was a good match

15 times? Damn

@PJ - Yeah, was a top match. I considered Roddick a bit of a one-trick pony in the past (serve obviously), very ignorant of me on evidence of today.
@horgen - Yup, crazy. Though thinking about it, he may technically not be the most successful of all time if we're talking men and women. Martina Navratilova won a heck of a lot so she might have more grand slams, but Fed is definitely the most successful male player in slams.

I really enjoyed it. I am glad Federer won though, I like him. Roddick did much better than I thought he would though, and he looked hungry for a win. And I would definitely say Federer is the greatest of all time, and he still has a few years left yet.

It was a truly stunning game.

I like Andy Roddick quite a bit, maybe it's because I'm American. I felt bad for him after losing in such a great match, but at least he put up a good fight against Federer. And yes, he probably is the greatest of all time now. I guess the feeling I get is indifference, because I don't dislike Federer but I'm not a fan either. You think he would have won if Nadal was in good shape and playing in the tournament?

I was kinda hoping Roddick would win... but oh well. He's still pretty awesome

I have the exact feeling watching the match. Not a Roddick fan, but I really wanted him to win. So do many of the people on centre court, i think. http://lightfellow.wordpress.com/2009/07/06/15/

I missed this final cause I was in Rapture, they don't have any TV channel there.
Years ago, I was a big fan of Boris Becker but my all time favourite is Martina Navratilova. She was the one who brought female tennis to a higher level.

That game went on for like 4 hours, it was really good. I was hoping Roddick would pull it off but unfortunately not. My respects to both players though.

Didn't watch it all now but watched the last set or so and it was amazing that went for like 90 mins or so. I would have liked Roddick to win mainly because while he is a great player and one of the greatest, its just kind of tiring seeing Federer winning all the time (like United winning the league and one of the Williams sisters winning the women's final).

I would have to say that for true quality sportsmanship, Tennis is the way to go. I remember last year's Final. That was sport at its finest.

It was a long final. I didnt watch all of it.

I saw the highlights of that final and it seemed like a great game. Federer is a truely great tennis player. Tennis isn't really that big here (Hewitt is our best and he isn't even in the top 100 any more) ...

I didn't had the change to see the match. I still watch tennis but the womens competition.

Awesome awesome awesome win. Though Roddick doesn't lose well. They are both bad arse.

i was gutted for Roddick too, but he did lose to the best player of all time, (so far) . It was probably a better final without murrey in it, as i think he would of bottled it and lost easy anyway.

It was just great to have a mostly rain free wimbledon and another epic final.
