I'm not going to say too much this time around as my bias is too apparent. For the record, the MGS is one of my favorite series' of all time IMO. Halo is good, but I'm not a fan really. My main thing is how each showed at E3.
Halo 3 - There is no duobt that all current and future Xbox 360 owners were looking forward to seeing Master Chief more than anything else this year at E3. Although Bungie delivered with a trailer, it left people wanting much more. It was extremely short and showed very little. The graphics were stunning as expected, but nothing intense happened that could really display the potential power of the Microsoft's newest console. Most noticably, no shooting occured. Halo is famous for its multiplayer aspect. The plot is secondary to the gameplay itself. Without any real gameplay, the trailer was nothing more than an attempt to tie fans over until further along in the development process.
MGS4 - Now THIS may be the game that stole the show. Besides running a stunning trailer at the Playstation conference, Konami delivered a 15 minute long visual delight that left audiences in awe. Nothing has ever achieved what this trailer achieved. Never have I felt so satisfied. Although gameplay was nevre shown, Hideo Kojima was able to display the greatest part of MGS, the characters and the story. This trailer made one thing clear over everything else. MGS4 will exhibit the same level of brilliant storytelling Hideo Kojima has become known for during his career. Not only did the trailer tell fathmos abuot the game, Hideo Kojima himself sat down and talked about what we can expect from the next (and probably final) installment of this legendary franchise.
