In case you didn't already know based on the title, today (or yesterday actually) I picked up Super Paper Mario. *Trumpets Sound* I've only played it for about an hour so far, but it seems like a pretty fun game. I've actually never played a Paper Mario game before, so I don't know what to expect nor do I know if I'll enjoy the game. Flipping from 2D to 3D has proven to add a new 'dimension' (hah! pun intended!) to the game and makes exploring each section all the more fun. I'll hopefully have a review up within the next few weeks.

Up next on my list ... ah, yes ... teh Exbawx Threesickstea! Ok, I promise I'll never do that again. Anyway, the initial shock over the Elite has passed over me and now I'm certain I'll be getting the Premium (assuming I can scrounge up enough money). The only thing I'm really questioning right now is what games to get. There are three games (aside from GRAW2, I definitely want to get that) that I'm interested in. Major League Baseball 2k7, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, and Call of Duty 3 (or 2, not positive yet). If you've played any of them, your opinions would be appreciated.

That's about all I can think of for now. How's everyone doing?

I haven't played any, except for the demo of Lost Planet... I guess you could try to download some demos too, before buying.

I picked up Super Paper Mario yesterday too. I think I was the only person who pre-ordered at my local GameStop. I'm at the end of Chapter 3 right now and I'm loving every bit of the game. Although I think Paper Mario: The Thousand Year door is the best Paper Mario game, Super Paper Mario is a must own Wii game.

Lost Planet is all to great, there are some better choices but you can't get them.

I picked up Super Paper Mario yesterday as well. Good stuff. And Playing previous Paper Mario game wouldn't really have you be anymore familiar with this game. The other ones were turned based role playing games.

I picked it up yesterday and spent about 3 hours with it last night. A really fun game!! You should check out Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. Another great game!!

grats on SPM, i still gotta get it. as for 360 games, (assuming u have live) R6V is good, u seem to be set on GRAW2 which is solid, dont get GEOW, rent it first. also dont worry about not playing the other 2 paper marios, the first one for N64 was the best, TTYD is a bit too similar to it but till good and SPM is totally different... gameplay wise i hear.

I can't wait to get SPM, I played all of its predecessors but they are all so different from SPM that it doesn't mater.

I would go with Gears and Oblivion for the 360

You still need to get TTYD. SPM and TTYD are almost complete opposites so far from what I can judge in SPM. SPM is a very odd game for newcomers to the franchise, because while it is good that they are getting a Paper Mario experience that is unique and approachable, they are still missing out on a lot of the great RPG elements of previous games in the series. TTYD is slightly less linear, and has many more RPG elements... while SPM has tons of platformer elements, and some RPG elements added for variety. I'd definitely still recommend playing TTYD after you beat SPM.
As for the 360, it looks like you'll have to get it anyway, considering I would only assume that you would have gotten the "core" PS3 if you'd decided to go that route. In case you didn't know, Sony just discontinued the "core" model in North America.

James - M rated games aren't possible for me, which is why I didn't have those games on my list. I can see you have a GRAW icon though.

RevFreak - I might get TTYD since it's only $20, but RPG's where never my favorites. And I would've gotten the 60GB PS3 anyway since the cheaper one didn't have wi-fi. Regardless, there just aren't enough games I'd be interested in for the PS3.

My dad got me it for my birthday. Seems like it's going to be a great game from what I played. Flipping is interesting. The characters seem interesting. I've always loved the look of the two PM's so I love this one too. Anyways, you need to play both PM. Both are really great. I loved the 2nd more though. And don't worry if RPG's aren't really your thing. PM is a lil' different from most RPG's. The combat is a bit interactive which is a plus.

Can't get wait Super Paper Mario and you should go for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - XBOX 360

Jammy sod...I really want SPM, as I own SPM and SPM:TTYD, though Guitar Hero 2 comes before this.

LP:EC is good 'Snap though the length of the game is lacking somewhat, though while it does last you'll have fun - I'll guarantee you that. Also, CoD 3 - in my opinon - doesn't really seem that different from CoD 2. The only radical difference to me was the graphics, and even they weren't that great. But at the end of the day it's your decision that count, I'm just here to try and sway your decision.

so true...

It looks like a great game, shame it's not coming out in Europe for months

I've heard many people say that COD3 and Lost Planet are disappointing, but definatly get GRAW 2 and MLB 2k7, especially since I own it too, so we can play.

How far are you in SPM now?
Posted Apr 12, 2007 1:41 pm PT
To comment on your list of 360 games, I'd definitely recommend buying Lost Planet (read my review), especially if you can't buy Gears. A lot of fun online, plus the single player game is actually a lot of fun as well.... even if the story made absolutely no sense at all.

MJ - I'm positive I'll be picking up MLB 2k7, I just don't know when.
Sponge - I'm on chapter 2-3, I only got to play for about an hour or so today too.
RevFreak - I'll read the review now.

I don't own a 360, and I only own the first Paper Mario game. In my opinion though, Paper Mario is one of the greatest games i have ever played. TTYD and SPM are definitely on my list if i ever get a Wii. I recommend if you have an N64 still to get the first one, its fantastic.
