Wow, I hadn't posted a blog in almost a month.
I just decided to take a break from that. Anyways, this blog will cover a few things. Most importantly that I will be taking a break from Gamespot for awhile. Maybe 2 weeks or so. And no, its not because ofmod oppression or anything like that. I just need to take some time away and clear my head and focus my attention elsehere. Same will go for The Foreign Grounds although my break from there is for other reasons.
With that out of the way, everything else has been going pretty well. School is going great and seems to be flying by as each day goes. The classes are pretty good and I enjoy most of the teachers. The only class that irks me is Biology, and that is mainly because the teacher is sarcastic and also has a jaded view of today's youth or at least classifies us all intotwo groups: lazy and dumb. Also everything in that class is group work. I have been paired thus far with kids who don't want to participate and always rely on me for the answer. And you can't complain because he'll pair you with them again. But other than that, everything is going well.
In other news, of course I am still listening to Dream Theater, probably most everyday. But along with that, I have been listening to some more Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, Pain of Salvation, Beardfish, and Transatlantic. I also started to use the pair of earphones that came with my laptop. I must admit, that they are top notch. I am able to pick out bass lines a little better now and even have found quite a few catchy ones (Dream Theater's A Rite of Passage-- Chorus) Although the stems I have sound pretty bad, too much distortion.
On the TV front, I have finished up the Third Season of Dexter. A great season I'd say. Jimmy Smits did a great job playing Miguel, the Assistant District Attorney. A lot of great moments overall and everyone played their part well. Dexter continues to play an intriguing character. Season 4 has been pretty good so far to. Can't say I didn't cringe when Lithgow cut the femoral artery is episode one. That made me really cringe
Anyways, John Lithgow also plays a great serial killer. Just had to put that out there
On the video game front, I bought Saw: The Game. It's actually a fun game with fun traps to partake in and contains a great storyline and script, which I believe takes place between Saw 1 and 2. But anyways, it takes place in an old asylum in which you play Detective Tapp, the cop from Saw 1. You must free a circle of people who have a connection to Tapp's past. Something you must uncover. Along the way you can pick up case files and notes about the asylum around you.
Currently in Guitar Hero 5: World Tour, I am working on a song. Since you can create a song, I decided why not. They can be up to 10 minutes long and can utilize keyboards, drums, bass, and guitar. I just can't seem to come up with anything. I am working right now bass and guitar riffs. Drum tracks will be later most likely. The keyboard will likely follow the bass and guitar lines. My main problem however is that most of my drum tracks are blast beats. I actually broke one of the pedals recording a kick drum part ![]()
Other than that, not much else is happening. I am looking forward to Halloween. I am having my cousins come over and going to roast hot dogs in the fireplace. Tomorrow I am going to a haunted hayride with some friends tomorrow. Another highlight of my life since the last blog, would be me getting 7 strikes in a row during Saturday morning league bowling. I had my own cheering section of parents. ![]()
Before I go, the people in front of me at the Dream Theater show were using a camera and recorded a bit of A Nightmare to Remember, I was hoping to find it on youtube... and I have found it. A great way to relive a memory. I was behind the people in this video
Have a great weekend guys,
