Yeah, I have something to blog about. I just finished my summer reading and I was kind of annoyed by one of the books. I won't say which book it is, because I don't want to spoil things...but anyways. The majority of the books that I have to read for school result in the same damn ending. The main character's friend or relative always dies! It gets on my nerves so much. Seriously, we've read a bunch of narrated books, and it's become so easy to tell which character dies. I don't get why all of the literature our school classifies as "good" involve some tragic death. In fact, it's become such an obvious annoyance in my eyes, that I can even assume which character dies, and I'm always right! The books schools select are all the same, and people fail to understand that good books don't always need to result in some sort of death. Isn't that kind of sad? I don't know, this may be a stupid blog, but it's just something I had to let out to somebody. I am a bit emotional, so I guess that is why I get angered when everyone dies in the books. It just changes my view on the whole book. What I mean by this is I'll be focusing in on the character that I think will die, and fail to notice the details of other things. So this book just caused me to become pissed off to an extreme. I haven't read a recent school book where someone (not even counting the villains) die. Anyone else notice this? If you want to see the books that I've read resulting in deaths of characters click this (these are the last 3 books I've read in school or for school):

Anyways that is all. Peace,

Romeo and Juliet may have a sad ending but it was really well written. I am reading To Kill a Mockingbird. As I recall no main characters die.

I may prefer some manga over all that lit crap, but To Kill a Mockingbird was pretty good.

Ugh, I know how you feel, Oblivion. I'm sick of "good lit" being classified as stories where everyone dies. Good lit is a story where I actually enjoy it. Anyway, I had to read Animal Farm this summer. Just more boring crap. Thankfully there's plenty of *good* books to keep me entertained. Like The Last Wish. That was excellent. TKM was good as far as school reading goes. I don't mind Shakespeare personally, but I definitely see why people wouldn't like it too. Nectar in a Sieve was a f***ing nighmare though.
(IMO the best books ever are the ones in the Cassandra Kresnov trilogy by Joel Shepard.)

Ninja- thought LoTF wasn't the worst book out there, but it was predictable to me. And Peace Like a River is really good I've heard, but go figure about the death thing
Saturn-
. Yeah I don't hate school so much, it's just that books have become so repetitive. And yeah, I hate being forced to read, though on the contrary, I love reading books I want to read.
link- Romeo and Juliet was okay, better than I thought, I just used it to point out the whole death thing. And TKAM is an awesome book (that I did read in school), and I was happy reading it.
Ninja- Agreed, I really enjoyed that book.
Dragon- Good to know you agree with me
. I never heard of Animal Farm, though I'm sure I'll be reading it sometime, and I want to read the Last Wish. TKAM was one of my favorite books I had to read in school, and Romeo and Juliet was okay. And I've never checked out the Cassandra Kresnov trilogy, but if they are that good, I might read them
.

Oh and I am reading a book that isn't directly for school. It's Eldest, book 2 of the Inheritance trilogy. Great read so far, even though I'm not too far into it yet.

olol, I didn't even read LotF and I passed English with a good amount of knowledge on the book for the exam...XD (Okay, I read a few chapters, but I didn't even bother with it...)
Frankly, I want to read stuff about politics, not Shakespearean ****... I should get reading on that What Does China Think? book...>.>

gameeer
Nice man, yeah I look up sparknotes every now and then for my school reading
But I usually force myself to read the book at least once
Yeah politics is great, and there are plenty of good books out there. We should read them in like history or something as a current event portion of class

I hate when they force you to read to some crappy book. That's one thing I hate is when I have to read something I have no interest in.
