How's it going?
Updating once again after a long, long delay.
I am officially in the USAF now, andI am currently enduring hell through Pararescue Indoctrination. The team I was with started with 85, and I made it with the team down to 17.. then I got set back to the next team because they thought I might have had a heart problem. Thankfully they found nothing wrong but I missed too much training for me to continue with the team, so my next 'hell course' will be starting all over again in January. Until then I have a 'little' bit of downtime.
I hope you are all doing well and had a great thanksgiving weekend with your family and friends!
So here I am, I'm deciding that I'll start going to gamespot more frequent again. Not that I haven't been gaming more, I just love the community that exists here. So a lot's changed for me (not like any of you give a rats ass). I'm now in the DEP for the United States Air Force. I won't be going to basic until early next year, so I can finish up school and prepare physically for it.
Don't ask me the "Are you going to be a pilot?" Question. I don't know why people automatically ask that. I am hoping to become part of the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) as a Pararescueman (PJ). Not many people know who these guys are, and I like it like that. If you want a brief explanation, it's the Air Force's equivilant of Navy Seal with many of the same physical demands. My Physical Ability and Stanima Test (PAST) is coming up very shortly, either this week or next week. Though this is just to see if I can even qualify to get to the screening, which has a 80-90+ percent drop out rate.
I'm already working my ass off getting in shape, and I already meet/surpass the requirements that will be on the PAST test. Swimming has been trimmed down to 8:15 on a 500m swim, My 1.5 mile is done in 9:25, Pushup Max in 2 Minutes is currently at 82, Pullup max (palms facing away) is 17. So it's not a bad start, but I have to become much better should I want to stand a chance through the Indoctrination course.
Okay, so Pararescue. What is it all about? Well little do people know, Pararescue have been in every major Special Force conflict (including the ever so famous BlackHawk Down), as well as primary conflicts. When acting together as a CSAR team, they go and rescue people who are in a bad way, or if a situation has gotten out of hand. It's not the only thing they do, but that's what they are primarily trained for. They can also serve as combat medics (and often do) when embedded with Rangers, Green Berets, SEALS, etc. Here's a video that explains the CSAR aspect clearly.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E2WQJQCpfo
I'll be putting stuff up here as progress is made, and getting more active with other people. Hope you're all doing well!
