Previously I have have told you details about the fantasy world I have been creating.
But it is not the world alone I have planned, there are the stories set in it as well, however as it is I have a hard time deciding which story to write first.
As it is I have more than a dozen separate story-lines I want to write about at some point but i have narrowed-down the amount to three storylines that I feel would be best to start with, but i still have a hard time choosing between them.
Here I intend to give you a brief description of those three storylines, I am not expecting that whoever that reads this will make a choice for me, but I hope that any input I get may help me to decide.

The first story has a somewhat simple concept, the main character is turned into a Shaden ( read my previous blogpost for clarification ) at the beginning and then from then on the story depicts how he gradually accepts what he has become and how he creates a new life for himself in an anarchistic state among other shaden and outcast humans.

The second story is set in the largest city in the world of Aniter, where the authorities tries to strike the growing crime organizations in order to keep the nation from growing weak as the world is getting dangerously close to the eruption of a religious world war.
This story has two main characters, one is a talented but amoral captain of one of the city's many militia garrisons, the other one is an unusual street urchin that will eventually come change the very dreams the captain has for the future.
I should note that this is merely the very first "chapter" in a much longer storyline, by far the greatest of the ones I have planned but it is also the one that might require the most world-development before I can start writing.

The third story is centered around an immortal main character that has had his memories removed about once every century, leading him to develop radically different personalities throughout his life ( not in the form of "multiple" personalities however ).
I should note that apart from his inability for final death he finds himself completely unable to use any magic ( despite living in a world where practically everyone have the ability to achieve magical powers somehow ) and his immortality is far from perfect.
His appearance changes somewhat over time, not by age but more like how skin color can change depending on where you live, his inability to die are also a bit specific, his wounds doesn't just heal and his body is not stronger or more powerful than a normal persons, however whenever he dies ( his body has to specifically die ) his body regenerates shortly afterwards, though there is no certainty that it completely regenerates since he can well find himself coming back a cripple, something he has to live with until he dies and regenerates the next time.
The story itself depicts how he gradually begin to backtrack his lost memories and the lives he previously had lived, in an attempt at trying to find out why he can't die.

If anyone reads this post I would be happy for any feedback I could get.

This time I am going to write about one of two "subraces" present in Aniter.
Originally the Shaden were meant to be my own personal take on the undead and in a way they still are, though it really is a simplistic way to put it given how much they have evolved since I began working on them.
Anyways, here goes. ( this "might" be a little disorganized but please bear with me )

The Shadow Taint which all Shaden are afflicted by is a psychological disease that forces them to cannibalistic urges so strong that they starve if not appeasing them.

Normally the taint can only be spread to another through a direct wound inflicted by a Shaden or if a Shaden feeds on you directly.

But neither of those conditions guarantee that one will turn into a Shaden, however the closer you get to death while either happen or have happened the higher the risk becomes.

While Shaden usually are fully capable of consciously restraining their urges the exception is at the very time they become one.

At that time they always goes into a mindless frenzy in order to appease their newly acquired urges, devouring those nearby, which unfortunately often is friends and family.

Once they become conscious of what they have done they are forced to accept what they have become since they have already severed their own past themselves.

Once a Shaden they receive a set of powers, abilities and traits.

They no longer need to eat or drink for nutrition, and even the cannibalistic urges are of an entirely psychological nature.

Their powers are generally affected by how well-fed they are and while a starving Shaden has worse self-constraint they are also less powerful.

The powers also drain them so constant use of them often leads to constant hunger.

Shaden can physically dissolve in shadows and shadow walk, all they need for it is to see a shadow, the more and deeper shadows the easier it is and consume less of their strength.

While shadow walking their wounds heal as well though the sensation of being hurt may remain for a while, they can also bring with them inanimate object which they are in direct contact with.

Once dissolved among shadows they can reappear from any shadow they can see or from any shadow connected to the one they dissolved into.

Stronger Shaden can also walk through reflections, appearing through distant surfaces capable of reflection either physically or with a gazing presence, the clearer reflection the longer and easier they can travel through them and just as with shadow walking they can bring inanimate objects.

The strongest Shaden also are able to create physical duplicates of themselves through reflections, their strength in comparison to the real body is relative to the overall strength of the Shaden and if strong enough the duplicate will be just as real as the original.

Having a duplicate body however is particularly draining since it can be hard to get accustomed to being present at two places at once.

The overall strength of a Shaden is mostly relative of their age as by time they get more accustomed to what they are and as they get better at restraining their urges they will come to need less in order to appease their hunger.

The more accustomed they get to their abilities they will also drain less of their strength while using them.

All Shaden gains higher physical strength, agility and endurance compared to how they originally was and while their physical capabilities are affected by being starving the difference is no where near to being as decisive as the lack of their powers would.

As Shaden grow stronger they also gradually turn more shadow-like in their appearance.

While in light they may seem as if standing in shade, and while in darkness they may seem to shimmer, with some conscious effort they can conceal this which otherwise is the easiest way to spot a reckless Shaden.

Eventually Shaden may turn entirely into immaterial beings of shadow, either by over-feeding or by abandoning the flesh either by choice or through deep depression or shock.

A similar but far more rare case is turning into mirror-beings bound to reflections.

Those who turn into either is normally referred to as Shades instead of Shaden and is always weaker than ordinary Shaden since they mostly lack physical presence, this however also makes them almost impossible to kill by anyone else other than other Shaden.

They can however make a contract with mortals allowing them to partly possess the mortal, gradually feed a little of his blood and feel physical sensations again, in exchange the mortal gains access to a few Shaden powers though limited compared to a true Shaden.

Some stronger Shades may also be able to forcefully possess someone with unstable emotions.

If the host dies before the Shade leaves the body he will also die with him.

There is however also a possibility for the once very strongest Shaden to turn back into material beings again if they truly wish so and if feeding enough from a host.

As Shaden need to see shadows or reflections in order to use their powers, being blinded by either complete darkness or complete light robs them of the use of their powers.

If you exclude the first time a Shaden feeds most Shaden doesn't feed directly from their victims, both because they want to avoid spreading the taint and because they prefer not to eat their food raw though they could if they wanted to.

This time I am going to write about what I have been working on most recently concerning Aniter; time.
First I want to point out that the world of Aniter doesn't adhere to the way the real world functions and is not even a planet, you can view it as another dimension or an afterlife, whichever would be easier to believe.

A year in Aniter is divided in seven seasons.
It doesn't mean that there are seven kinds of seasons but the easiest way to explain is by giving a example sequence.

Year 1
Spring - Summer - Fall - Winter - Fall - Summer - Spring

Year 2
Summer - Fall - Winter - Spring - Winter - Fall - Summer

Year 3
Fall - Winter - Spring - Summer - Spring - Winter - Fall

Year 4
Winter - Spring - Summer - Fall - Summer - Spring - Winter

Three of the traditional seasons comes twice a year while a fourth comes just once, but each year begins with a different season than the previous which means that every year there is a different season that comes just once.
Each season is also further divided in seven "weeks" of nine days each.
All together this makes a year 441 days in length, though I have not yet decided upon the actual length of a day.
Between each year there is also a shorter period of 31 days that is called the Wake ( the name might change ), it is a period in which all the four traditional seasons mix in extremely unpredictable ways.
In extreme cases it might even be that one place experiences summers heat while another place just a few miles from there is struck by a snowstorm.

Quite recently I began to create a complete calendar with every day noted for every year in the world of Aniter, this is meant as a way to map the development of the world down to the tiniest details.
I am currently working hard to complete it so I can make use of it, but I can honestly say that I originally had vastly underestimated the required effort.
As I have recently calculated it, in Microsoft Words for a period of 3500 years, a minimum of 30000 pages is required before I can use it.

Some people just don't have opinions. Like Nimroc.
Nimroc must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could Nimroc possibly have for not rating a single film?
