Hi peeps, been a bit, eh?
Well, if some of you have checked out Spooksspouse's profile, you know BOTH of us have been AWOL. For him, he was fighting off a major flu-type bug that wasn't meshing well with some of his other health problems, which led me to pull all the overtime at work I could to make up the deficit. Luckily (or maybe NOT!) we had a new press arrive at work, which needed some new templates set up in my department (I'll spare you the details). Being that I'm the template expert, I was definitely not short on work opportunities.
Among other things, we were fortunate enough that once our stimulus check arrived, a friend of mine decided to sell his Wii - only a few months old, but he'd been unemployed for the last two months and needed the cash. OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS! HALLELUJIA! I was afraid I'd have to resort to ordering one online; they have been NOWHERE to be found in the local stores when I had the money, and of course there's always two or three when you don't! So for a couple of hundred bucks, one Wii with two controllers, and 5 or 6 games (I say "5 or 6" because we GOT 5, but his sister has the Star Wars Lego game so we're still waiting on that). And since we had a bit left after catching up on expenses, I was able to splurge on ME and finally got my PSP....the Daxter pack with the memory card and Daxter game. The Family Guy vid was bequeathed to my nephew, though.....I really do NOT care for that show at all! I also purchased Jeanne D'Arc and Manhunt 2 to go with it. Sadly, I've not had the time yet to devote to playing much with it, but what spare time I have has been pulled into Jeanne D'Arc. It's been a fabulous tactical game, and there's something sort of wacky about lots of anime-type characters with French accents! I've only tinkered briefly with Manhunt - it looks like incredible fun but I'm focusing on D'Arc first before I try to tackle it.
On a side note, I should mention that I also recently began working out, too. While tending to the 'spouse and pulling beaucoup overtime I started really realizing my own health was suffering (lack of sleep has that effect, yes?
) My blood pressure went pretty high, and grabbing whatever's handy for a quick bite is NOT the way to spend a few months, at least not when you're over thirty-five. So when our local Curves offered a special (one year for $34 a month, for a one-year contract with no membership fee) I decided to start doing something about it. It actually didn't affect my schedule much....it's a half-hour workout three times a week, and right after I dropped the Spooksspawn off at her school I'd head right over to the gym and get there when they opened. Of course, now she's out of school but I'm not pulling the overtime so I have a much more open schedule to go when I please! Currently, I'm in that weird limbo where you haven't lost any pounds, but you definitely have lost SOMETHING because suddenly all your clothes are pretty baggy....wow. I haven't done the actual measuring yet to find out HOW many inches I lost, but I'm already seeing and feeling the results, so I can say with full confidence that I'm happy I started it and the numbers are really moot.
Meh, duty calls, but I just wanted to give everyone a shout-out and let you know I'll be back on again for a bit. At least until the NEXT emergency!
Let me know how you're all doing, and I'll check out the blogs later. BIG GLOMPY HUGS TO ALL!!!!
Love you guys, Neko!

dont worry about catching up on all the blogs. I think I have written roughly 8 million of them since the last time you were here.
Way to go on the weight loss. Like Kelly said, inches are always better than pounds. Keep it up! Make sure and pace yourself with all that extra work.
Good to hear things are going okay, albeit busy!
Hurray! you got a Wii and a PSP ^_^ I'm looking forward to getting a new console too cause there's really no game I want to play on my PS3 =_=.
Congrads on loosing weight! 3o minutes 3 times a week is all thats needed. Once you start getting used to it, your body will adapt and you'll want to do it every day
Allie: Yeah, I saw the red PSP in the store the other day! Definitely a turn-on, but I'd probably still have gone with the Daxter Pack if only for the memory card. I feel your pain with the Wii, believe me you. Elusive little buggers. And do you actually pick up your friends and curl them? Wicked, you've gone way up on my Respect-My-Authority-meter!
kellymae: Whoa, you weren't lying, were ya? Just finished checking the blogs.....I was like, "Er, think I'll just read the top one....."
tyke: Hi, darlin'! Yes, things are going pretty good these days. After a few months of stressing, when it gets lifted off your shoulders it's amazing how much happier a place the world is.
funk: Congrats on the baby! There were a bunch of times I was like, "Man, I gotta check G-Spot & see if Funk's had the baby yet....she's bound to have had it by now....." I'm really glad to hear you sounding so good! I used to bike-ride for exercise, but now I'm bike-less and not living in a good area for that anyway. It's a good exercise to stick with, though! And I look forward to seeing what new creations you'll be popping out with the new laptop.
yeah_write: Yes, it is a terrific little system! We already have two DS systems, and it's been cool having both around to compare. And yes, sharing with the spouse is something we've already been debating on.
polsci: You probably would have seen me on MySpace, I was popping in there for short bursts just to keep track of my meat-world friends! It was kind of weird, since I actually WORK with most of my friends, I was seeing more of my older friends that had moved on to other shifts, but no time to chat with them, and ditto for the ones on the same shift. Somebody would come by to say hi, and I was all "Gee, love to chat, but I got 10 jobs to set up that Press is waiting on....." So I was SEEING everybody, but couldn't talk or make plans to do anything with them! Definitely a peculiar mix of being kinda lonely and busy at the same time.....
xbox: Thanks, babes. Yes, 'Spouse is much better now. Poor thing was half-dead for ages, but he's back on track now. And luckily I'm not as busy now as I was (although still busy), so things are looking up!
graf: Hi, sweets! Yep, we're pretty tickled about it ourselves. The Spooksspawn is kicking butt at Super Mario Galaxy!
Stripey: HEY THERE! Yep, after all this time I finally got both handheld systems! Have you got a house set up yet?!??!?!!
bacchus: Yeah, the Wii availability is kind of odd. Because most stores will only get two or three in at a time (and usually not sure when they'll get them), they're really reluctant to hold a system around here, even with a payment in advance. I don't pretend to understand it either. But I don't have that many stores in my immediate area - if I wanted to drive 45 minutes, I probably could have found one, but the way things have been as of late I didn't have the time to attempt it. Still, all's well that ends well - system acquired!
raven: I wish I had enough vacation time to just take a week off and PLAY! Sadly, I must reserve my remaining vacation time for the family beach trip...but methinks the systems will be going along for the ride.
xriceballx: My favorite onigiri! I'm glad you stopped by! ^_^ So you're planning on a new console too? What do you have your eye on? And thankies for the advice, too....about water, I have turned into a water FIEND, I drink 16 oz. when I first get up, another 16 oz. immediately before AND after my workout, and at least three more times during the day. I wish I could say I cut out soft drinks totally, but I depend on my caffeine at night when I'm working....night shift in front of a computer can be really, really tough.
Foolz3h: Whoopsie, I did sort of neglect to mention, didn't I? Let's see, we got Super Mario Galaxy, No More Heroes, two Sims games (which none of us care anything about and will be traded in at the first available opportunity), and Wii Sports (not the one that comes with the game, though we got that too). Also, as previously mentioned, we should be getting the Lego Star Wars game later. I told him not to rush his sister on it, since we got plenty to occupy ourselves with right now.
Draco: Yes, I am getting into Jeanne D'Arc big-time! It has a few nice twists to things (like the way your MP starts out empty & refills as you move) to keep it interesting. And as a matter of fact, I haven't had ample opportunity to explore the full capabilities of this ubercool little piece of gaming goodness, so I probably WILL be bugging you about it later!
I'm gonna blame it on working at night. Yeah, that's it.
(good job on losing all the weight btw!)
raven: Thankies for the heads-up on that, I shall bear that in mind. *sigh* Mo money....
ThaSod: Hah hah, no excuse, I work nights too, y'know! Actually, that's why first thing in the morning works for me - but I'm lucky because Curves is open at 8. You definitely should take advantage of your work paying for it, wish MY job would do that. They did offer a reduced rate at another local gym, but they don't open until 9 and honestly I prefer the structured environment at Curves. It's well-balanced and more user-friendly to us workout n00bs.
blade: Er, Koneko?.....Everybody's doing pretty well now, thankies! It's something of a relief, after 'Spouse had been so sick for a while. Hope you're doing good these days too!
Platy: Hi there sweetie! Thankies for the greeting, I'm always glad to see your smiling face! (Metaphorically speaking, of course....
jbot: Thanks, sweets! I'll go pester the Resort in a bit.
ThaSod: Well, when the Spawn was in school, it worked out perfectly. Even now that schools' out, I'm still lucky in that regard because since I work nights & 'Spouse has to leave for his job at 4:30 in the morning, the Spawn stays with her grandmother at night. So I still have time to do the workout in the a.m. before I go pick her up. So unless you're lucky enough where the gym you mentioned opens up when you get off of work, you're probably going to have a hard time indeed! Some gyms offer a day-care area, perhaps you can look into that. Or convince the wife that you really, really need your own workout equipment!
For PS3 cables, keep in mind you can use PS2 component cables if you have some--if not, they're often cheaper than PS3 cables even though they're the same thing. For HDMI or any other standard cable, go to monoprice.com--never, ever buy them at a retail store. The markup is unbelievable!
