I wish I had something to talk about more often.

Now to let you know that Im trying to be un-biased as possible, and Im using all facts to support my views of what next gen actually means to gaming. And I will be getting an X-box 360, just not anytime soon.

What is next gen?

People will argue, and argue, about it being better graphics than the previous generation, faster gameplay, and on and on. But isnt next gen supposed to be an upgrade mostly on information all together? I mean Nintendo didnt use the same cartridge as the NES for SNES. They upgraded it.

So yeah sure the X-box 360 is better than the previous gen, but they are using the same format, DVD.

And im not sure if you know this but, it was a dumb move. Because for one thing every year it gets easier and easier to fill up all the information for a Single Layer DVD. In 2001 it seemed impossible to use all 4.7GB of a DVD. Now we are entering a time were it takes only 8 months to fill a Dual Layer DVD at 9GB.

And this is already showing on the X-box 360 with Madden, they had to take some features out due to the graphics.

And with no REAL plan for a HD-DVD X-box 360, it isnt looking so good.
Im not saying an HD-DVD version is coming out, but there are not any official plans that I or any one else have heard of. But if they do, Then were going some where.

So, the only real Next Gen system is well, the Playstation 3 because of Blu-Ray. And though Nintendo is upgrading, its an old format. But im still getting one because there games never push the edge really. But the Revolution seems promising. Theyd better get some more games though!

Just to note, these are just estimates and could be wrong. PM me if any updates are made to any of the stats I am making examples of. Thanks in advance.

"Blu-Ray"

Ok now you have probibly known for a long time that Blu-Ray is better than DVD's, etc...
But have you taken the time to realize how much Larger the games will be? Ok so here we go.

Ill take the best selling series for platforms for the past 4 years. Grand Theft Auto, and I will put GTA: San Andreas as the game to make an example of.
Lets say were playing San Andreas, pretty huge map eh?
If not to big! I got bored going from one ciy to another.
So now, imagine the map 5x bigger with 5x the stuff. At that rate the game would be able to fit Seattle, Walla Walla, Reno, Denver, San Diego, and then some with no problem.
With also more vehicles, music, characters, story mode, and etc.

"Cell"

Well most of us here have seen the video on what the Cell can do, but dont forget now that the PS3's Cell is a custom version.
And by being custom, it has probibly been customized to be a little faster, or maybe smoother. Or even both.

But lets take a very fast paced game. Burn Out 3. Blazing speeds, accidents in seconds, etc. Now lets put it on X-box. Not the 360.
And the X-box's speed is fairly around 700Mhz with like... 1 million+ gigaflops and lets say Burnout 3 takes up 500,000 Gigaflops.
And figuring that the PS3's stats are around 30x+ better, lets just put it at 15,000,000 Gigaflops= 1.5 Teraflops.
So with this kind of speed, youd be able to play with 80 cars on a track without pushing the limits on the PS3. And If im right were not even close to what the PS3 can handle so... 40x? 2.0 Teraflops.
Fast? Well, were not even in Teraflops yet, that tells us somthing. Because the PS3 is clocked at 2.18? Teraflops. No problem here!

"RSX"

Whats one of the most beautiful games right now? Well its hard to say so ill take Pong.
I'll use Need For Speed Most Wanted I guess.
Lets just say that the 360 uses 10 billion shaders per second on this game? That Times 8= 80 billion shaders per second.
Which the RSX used 100 billion shaders per second. And can support it at 1.8 TFlops.

Moving On...

Well... Thats actually it.

Well I am just guessing, and these are possible.

Ok lets just say the PS3 will come standard with a Hard Drive. And you set the preferances and then you come to a part that has online registration.
I can't say if its going to be free or not, but to make this example easier, let's say its free.
And once you fill that out, it goes into the online data base. So... With the online information saved on your PS3. It loads up everytime you play a PS3 game online.
A Integrated Online System! So companys can still do what ever they want as Sony intended. But this will stop thousands of useless accounts for Sony to handle. Because like the "Live" service, you only have to do it once. And almost a perfect connection since thats out of the way.

And im guessing if the PS3 isnt connected online it wont even ask for an online registration untill you do.

A Second way would be using a very similar system of the PS2's online system but with "Live" like features.
How?
Well first you have Sony have a online data base like the center of everything with the companys online systems after.
What?
Just like the integrated online system but your data is kept on the Sony data base, and re-loads to any game that you play online. So companys still have a choice. But this is very unlikley because of the complications, but it still would work.

And the last idea is the most likley.
Being that of what Sony hinted us on.
An online data base like that of the previous but its controlled by the companys leaving multiple accounts, but alot more freedom.
It would be just like playing and downloading on the PC. Lagish, but alot of options... I mean alot!

Just guess's and all of these would work though.

Some people just don't have opinions. Like Nein1no.
Nein1no must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could Nein1no possibly have for not rating a single film?
