I have no real reason to blog but, for perhaps the first time ever, I thought I'd do it anyway.

Firstly, I made a music video. I made it ages ago but never really uploaded it 'til now since Youtube deletes all Buffy-related videos. Anyway, before they get a chance to delete, watch it:

EDIT: Youtube deleted the video, along with my account (those FOX b*stards, I will literally fly to the USA and burn down their building if they treat Dollhouse badly) so it's now hosted at Megavideo instead. I don't know how long it's gonna be up there for (since Dailymotion deleted the vid within 3 seconds) so if you're interested, watch now.

Faith - "Fade Away" - Basically it's about Faith (from BtVS), using only her appearances in Angel, showing her past sins and her eternal struggle with redemption and how Angel is the only one who believes in her - the only one who understands her - and how he helps her through the hard times when no-one else will. It does contain lots of flashing images however so be careful if you're epileptic.

I've updated my website (the TV Notes one, not The Unnatural) but it's been very buggy lately and won't publish some of the changes. Anyway, check it out, if you haven't done so already, by clicking the image below:

Also, I think I've gone crazy with making banners and various other artwork of tv shows. I've uploaded some of my work at the link below so check it out if you're interested. Banners include stuff from Buffy, Charmed, Dawson's Creek, Dark Angel, Grey's Anatomy and Veronica Mars.

Here's a few samples (all are massively scaled down, go to the site for full versions):

and so on...

Feel free to use, but please credit if you do.

Lastly, I'm a self-confessed TV Junkie. I have so much stuff to watch this tv year and I have no idea how I'm gonna manage it all. But like all addicts, I will find a way. Atleast it's healthier than doing drugs, right? Here's how it breaks down:

(This is only including shows that are still running and not cancelled shows that I'm watching or rewatching)

New shows:

90210, Dollhouse and quite possibly Fringe

Returning Shows:

30 Rock - still waiting on Season 2 to air

Brothers & Sisters - Season 3

Criminal Minds - waiting for Season 3 to air

Desperate Housewives - Season 5

ER - Season 15, last season

Ghost Whisperer - Season 4

Grey's Anatomy - Need to catch up on Season 4, then watch S5

Heroes - Season 3

Medium - Still waiting for Season 4 to air over here. Damn BBC, Grr!

Prison Break - Season 4 (watched the premiere episodes - anyone else getting an Alias vibe?)

Private Practice - Need to catch up before starting Season 2

Samantha Who - Still watching Season 1

Terminator: TSCC - Season 2

Ugly Betty - Season 2 still airing over here.

Hey, how is everyone? I have not blogged in almost 2 months so I thought it was about time. Remember how in my last blog I told of all my summer plans? Well, I've kinda ended up not doing those things. Hence the "lazy" in the blog title.

So, yup, I didn't get a job, I didn't learn how to drive (though I am getting there) and I didn't learn how to cook. But I did catch up on a lot of tv shows and I saw a few movies. I also wrote some fiction and stuff so I guess it's not a total waste.

Onto other news: on Thursday, the A Level results came out. I didn't do as well as I expected and I was declined from my first 2 University choices. But on the bright side, I did get a place in another university which is relatively close to my house and has the course I wanted to do anyway. So it's not all bad.

Also, I've set up a new website called TV Notes (I couldn't think of a better title) and you can go to it by clicking on the following button:

Basically, the site offers annotated versions of tv scripts. What I do is get a script or transcript of a tv show (let's use Veronica Mars as an example) and then I annotate it to explain the significance of lighting, music and dialogue used in the scene. So for the pilot episode of Veronica Mars, I'd explain why Veronica uses the word "marshmallow" to describe herself and why certain flashbacks are in blue tint whilst others are in yellow and stuff like that. Here's a sample from the pilot (click the spoiler tag):

______________________________________________________________________________

EDIT: TV.COM WON'T LET ME ADD SPOILER TAGS SO IGNORE ALL THE ITALICISED TEXT IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED.

MRS MURPHY: This is advanced placement. We expect more. It's called 'An Essay on Man' but what Pope's really talking about is faith. Right? Anybody? Did anybody complete the reading? Veronica? Veronica Mars!

Veronica jerks upright. She wipes one eye, attempting to wake up.

VERONICA: Um-hum
MRS MURPHY: Congratulations, you're my volunteer. Pope. An Essay on Man. Epistle I.
VERONICA: "Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never is, but always to be blest:
The soul, uneasy and confined from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come."
MRS MURPHY: And what do you suppose Pope meant by that?
VERONICA: Life's a b*tch until you die.

The other students giggle.

Veronica can recite the text word-by-word, even when she's practically asleep. Either she's really smart or she has a great memory. I would say a little of both. Her response to the question is perfectly in character and one of the early hints about her perception of the world. She's speaking here from her own experience's with the world and life itself. Life so far hasn't treated her fair. Sure, she was once with the in-crowd and life was good. But it all came crashing down around her. She was forced to grow up quickly, do what other girls her age didn't have to and she lost everything but her father. Life has been more than a b*tch to her.

MRS MURPHY: Okay, thank you Ms Mars for that succinct and somewhat inappropriate response.

Veronica returns her head to the desk as Mrs Murphy carries on.

MRS MURPHY: I think what Pope's saying is that the thing that keeps us powering through life's defeats is our faith in a better life yet to come.

Veronica doesn't look convinced.

She may not look convinced but this is the sort of statement that Veronica adheres to in life. She constantly finds herself dealing with bad times hoping that she will one day find a better life than the one she has now. She longs for something more and she fights for it everyday. Ironic then that she doesn't quite know it.

END OF SAMPLE

So, would you be interested in something like this? I won't just be annotating/analysing Veronica Mars. There'll be other shows too. If you're interested, you can go to the website link posted and find out more. If you do go there, leave a comment in the shoutbox or sign the guestbook. Since the site is fairly new, I haven't really had a chance to upload much content but there will be more soon. But I have uploaded the Veronica Mars pilot annotation, click on "all shows" and then "Veronica Mars" to read it.

TV Stuff:

TV Shows I've seen recently: (WARNING: may contain spoilers for the mentioned tv shows)

Alias - Season 4:

Hmm, I can't really say I loved this season. It was really good towards the end but I had a hard time keeping myself interested during the first 15 or so episodes. Plus there was a high level of unrealisticness with almost everything that happened. But overall it was a good season. Nowhere near as good as the first 3 seasons though.

Overall rating: 7.5/10

Favourite character(s) this season: Sydney & Irina Derevko

Gilmore Girls - Season 2

I didn't think this season was as good as Season 1 was. There were some episodes which had a bit too much teen drama (with the whole Dean/Rory/Jess love triangle) and I didn't find the season as funny or as dramatic as the first season. But overall, it was pretty great.

Favourite Character(s) this season: Paris & Lorelai

Overall rating: 8.9/10

Firefly - Season 1

A pretty good season/series with the same wit and humour as that of BtVS and ATS. However, it falls short when compared to those 2 aforementioned series. And I found that the Serenity movie was a lot better than most episodes.

Favourite character(s) this season: Mal & Kaylee

Overall rating: 8.7/10

Currently Watching:

Gilmore Girls - Season 3

Grey's Anatomy - Season 3

Beverly Hills 90210 - Season 1

ER - Season 10

Planning to watch soon:

Alias - Season 5

One Tree Hill - Season 2

Freaks & Geeks - Season 1

Private Practice - Season 1

Hey,

School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out! School's out!

Did I mention school's out?

Today I had my last exam; the Chemistry synoptic paper. It was very difficult (and mostly random) but I think it went pretty well. Could've gone even better if I had another few hours to revise for it. But I never sacrifice sleep for anything, so whatever. Anyway, school is over...forever. I never have to go to school again. Well, I do have to collect my results in August, return some books and go to the graduation ceremony but it's over in the sense that I never have to sit in a cla.ssroom and listen to teacher's drone on about the gazillionth ways of integrating trigonometric functions (bit of a mouthful, huh?), or the ideal gas laws or anything else. It's very exciting, but also scary. Gosh, I don't even know if I did well enough in my exams to get into my first choice University. But fingers crossed!

Also, right after the exam, me and my brother went to the cinema to watch the latest Indiana Jones movie. It was pretty good, I thought. A lot of people have said it wasn't as good as the previous 3 instalments, but I disagree. It was very entertaining and just what I was expecting from this genre of movie.

Anyway, since school is out, as I've mentioned a billion times already, it means I have a lot of time on my hands. And since I'm not going on holiday anywhere this summer, it means I have pretty much 3 months, give or take a week, to do whatever I want (within reason of course). So I've decided to do quite a few things this summer. I'm planning to:

  • Learn how to drive - I've had my provisional license for almost 2 years now and since I don't have to study anything school-related, I should have enough time to do both the theory and the practical test.
  • Get a job - It's about time I got one I reckon. Could do with the extra cash, plus it's good experience.
  • Focus on my writing - I haven't written any fiction for like a month now coz of my exams but I think now is a good time to get back to my fanfics and write them.
  • Learn how to cook - My dad's been bugging me for the last 2 years or so to learn how to cook since I'm pretty terrible at it. Both my parents are great cooks but my dad works a lot so I'm gonna learn from my mum whenever she's not busy. Should be fun.
  • Catch up on tv shows/movies - I roughly calculated that I have over 20 seasons worth of tv shows to go through this summer. And that's not including any rewatchages of things I've seen already (except for Angel Season 5). I dunno how I'm gonna get through them all since I usually can't sit and plough through a season in a few days like most people tend to do. Adding to that, I've still got more or less 15-20 films that my brother has (either on his computer or on DVD) that I still haven't watched. By the time I'm done, me and my tv are gonna be the best of friends.

I think that's it but I'm probably forgetting something. Sorry that I haven't been commenting on blogs or anywhere lately; I've been very busy with exams. But I'm gonna head to some of the latest blogs and comment as soon as I've typed this.

Since this blog is lacking any pictures/colour, I thought I'd add a random movie thing here:

Movies that you can watch over and over again:

A bit random, I know. But I thought I'd do it anyway. What fun would life be without randomness? So, yeah, here's a couple of movies I think that you (or atleast I) can rewatch again and again and again and never get bored. It's not a complete list (heck, it's not even a list) but these are a few of the movies off the top of my head.

Charlies Angels - Diaz, Barrymore and Liu as Charlie's kickass Angels. Don't you just love it already? Whilst it doesn't have the most original plot or anything, it makes up for it with it's sassiness and witty dialogue. And there are a lot of laugh out loud scenes. Overall it's a fun movie with performances that are neither here nor there. It's one of those movies where you just sit back and enjoy the ride. And with Cameron, Drew and Lucy as the sexy & funny yet deadly trio, it's one heck of a ride.

Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Terminator 2 - This has gotta be one of my favourite action movies of all time (right up there with Die Hard and the like). It's just so amazingly awesome. Very true to the action movie genre but also very unique in it's own way. The reason I think it's a cut above the 1st and 3rd movies of the Terminator franchise is not only because of the great action scenes, but also because of the characters. We see Arnie playing the 'good' terminator for the first time, we have the rebel teenager John and most importantly we have Sarah Connor who's no longer fighting against Jennifer Love Hewitt for the title of who can scream the loudest in a movie, but is now a kickass ass-kicker (see what I did there? ). I love the character growth here; how Sarah's hardened herself to the world because of the bad things that happened to her when she was honest about things. So not only is it a great action movie; it's a great action movie with depth.

Rating: 4.9/5 Stars

Volcano - I don't know if many of you have even heard of this film, let alone seen it since I don't think it was every really a blockbuster and it's been a decade or so since it's been out. But it's my favourite natural disaster movie ever. Very well put together and very entertaining. And the cast is pretty good too; Tommy Lee Jones, Anne Heche and Don Cheadle most notably. And whilst, having studied physics and chemistry, it's very unrealistic in scientific terms, it's still very enjoyable if you don't think about the science or realism aspect too much.

Rating: 4.3/5 Stars
