First of all, Thanks to JustPlainLucas because he wrote a blog that gave me an idea. I wanted to make this a long time agoas a way to express my feelings about how I've been feelingtowards Sony and the PS3![]()
I've been "loyal"
to Sony for a very long time....since the PS1 back then in 1998 when I first saw Final Fantasy VII, loved by many, hated by much. FFVII is the game that set my gaming standards 11 years ago......then the PS2 arrived.....until then NO problems at all.
PS1 and PS2 games and accesories were available everywhere.....PS2 still are. Even in the dumbest, crapiest place or department store you could find all those games and much needed accesories for your sincere gaming hobbie......
When the XBOX360 came out.....I wasn't really impressed......mainly because I didn't have much time for gaming. I wasin the later years of my Residency.
I enjoyedthe PS2 era like no one else....naturally...When I firstknewabout a PS3 coming out and with HDTV supportI almost collapsed....
My first reactions were " I don't care about the costs, after all I have a job and I can spend my hard earned money the way I want "
So the PS3 came out ! ........ Shame on Sony
....I've heard a lot of times valid and honestopinions from friends like TTDog about the way Sony treats European market.......that's almost the samecompared to the pain and humiliation that customers like me (from Mexico and regions outside US and Japan)had to endure. Let me explain:
- I bought my 20GB PS3 in May 2007 for about 533 US...... I know it sounds stupid...... but HEY ! The 60GM models were sold initially for almost 800 $, some crappy department stores 900$ WTF you may ask...?
- NO ONE TOLD ME back then that there was NO SUPPORT FOR MEXICO AND LATIN AMERICA ! DAMN !
My current PSNaccount was made with an adress from US.....because I couldn't select Mexico....my closest option was Spain ?
-Whatin the world is Sony thinking ????Do we deserve (the ones who do not live in US/ Japan /Europe / Australia) that kind of treat ? Sony was treating us like third or fourth world citizens litearally......
- What happens ? For me to buy content from the PSN store I had to input my credit card data, valid data. BUT ! I couldn't do that because MEXICO couldn't be selected !!!! At that time the so called PSN cards were only available in US. As today I haven't been able to spend a single $ on the PSN.
.On the other side....MS1500 -4500cards are EVERYWHERE! in every possible place...not to mentionthat 360 accesories are everywhere........... I got myself a PS Eye camera after un year and a half....because for thelucky ones like me not livingin Midgar (Mexico) City...things arrive here a little slower that the capital...damn again.....
- That's not all ! This year Sony (finally) decided to launch the Latin American version of the PS Store but ! WHY OH WHY ! The mexican version of the PS Store is COMPLETE CRAP ! CRAP AND MORE CRAP ! It's not the same content as in the US store.....it takes about 2 months to get the same content than US.
- Then Sony in another incredibly stupid decision: you can't buy content from the crapy mexican store with a credit card...they blew it..... YOU HAVE TO BUY A PSN card...OH ! Those damn PSN cards are only available in Midgar City....you end up paying like 23.50 for a 20US (taxes)..........
In the end I think I'm a masochist....... BUT despite all that was mentioned...I love my PS3 because of GAMES ! and nothing more......

I just hope that they've collected their **** together well enough to do something special next gen. I'm really happy with my PS3, but it took me a while to get to the kind of contentment I feel today.
@Gohansephiroth: It's not really that hard for Sony to improve......it wouldn't take more than a day to correct al the wrong things that they've done since the console was introduced here...... .
@SteelAttack: Same as you amigo......I'll hope I'll never have to buy content from the store over here......I have 3 accounts, just as you have....... .
@Hazelnutman: I believe that the responsibles for Sony marketing outside US are total dumbs..... Sony can't be excused for their "first time" IMO....
I used to be a 100% Sony gamer when all I played was the original PlayStation, so much so that I went to the trouble and expense of importing games from the US and Japan to avoid the 4 or 5 month wait for the European release... but when I got a Dreamcast I realised there was more to gaming than Sony machines and it opened my eyes.
At the same time it made me realise what a really crappy deal Europe gets from Sony and Nintendo, much higher prices, delays on everything and neither company acts as if they've EVER done anything wrong.
I'm not saying Microsoft are any better but so far they've not done me wrong, both Red Light episodes were dealt with quickly (licence issues aside) and compared to the trouble I had dealing with Sony when my PS2 refused to read disks that's nothing.
I just found out that the first DLC content arrived for the US and EU PSN store.....a little bit late behind Microsoft
If anything I'd be more cheesed off that there was loads of stuff there as they would have been spending more time on pointless frivolities (like Home) than they were making sure the games were hitting the real shop shelves and being graphically inferior to versions on other consoles they've gone out of their way to tell the public is less powerful than the PS3.
N-REAL
Sorry for the typo errors....my keyboard is full of dust.....
It's not that I can't afford or want a 360.......my lovely wife only wants one console in the house (thanks to my gaming habit)....either that or I'd have to sleep in the car..... so for me......it's PS3, because I love PS3 games after all the reasons I mentioned before. I do like all the useless and costless features like 4 USB ports, and of course I LOVE BLU-RAY . @TTDog: I don't mean to sound like a fanboy......a masochist maybe, but not a fanboy.
