Well, guys and gals, it's turning out to be a very dull Saturday indeed. In the interest of spicing things up a bit I have taken a few precious moments out of my disgustingly uneventful day to take some pictures of my gaming/computing/sound setup for your viewing pleasure. After all, this is the United States - where the quality of a man can be measured by the quantity of his possessions.
For starters, here's the computer.
It's custom built by my roommate, so I'm not entirely sure on the specifications. I'm buying it off of him sometime before the lease is up on our place. If nothing else, it serves as a flashy stand for the PS3.
Next, the sound.
This is a stereo that I got for my birthday. It's a Genesis G-508 with four satellite speakers and two center channels. The receiver, which pushes upwards of 500 watts, is built into the sub. It's not really a pro setup, but it serves my purposes nicely and doesn't disturb the neighbors.
...and yes, that's a statue of Bruce Lee with REAL nunchucks.
Finally, the prize of the lot, our projection television! (and the Gamecube
)
My roommate bought this thing refurbished on eBay for about $300. If you have enough space in your living room and a big enough screen this thing can project about a 18x15 foot picture. As it stands right now we're projecting at about 10x8 feet. You can hook up your computer, surround sound, any gaming console, VHS and DVD players, and satellite television to this beast of a machine.
Here's a photo of the projector in action, with a lamp for scale.

My digital camera simply does not do justice to the picture that the projector is truly capable of, but you get the idea.
Discuss.

Oh, I enjoy it quite a lot. It's so strange playing games on, you know, actual televisions now.
selbie:
It's much easier to transport. The projector is about the size of a lunchbox.
Kenshin:
No idea. I tried a couple of times and hurt myself.
Rhen_Var:
The refurbished projectors on eBay are WAY less expensive than any hi-def television on the market.
_overdose:
Indeed.
MonkeyStew:
It's amazing.
Thanks! I gotta get a new graphics card and possibly a new power supply for the PC and then I'll be set.
Dude, I absolutely cannot stand to live with a pack rat. My dad's girlfriend is that way too and her house is continually filled to the brim with things she doesn't use. It's so bad it's actually hard to walk around in there.
latte:
Thanks!
paul:
It's GTAIV.
majorflyswat:
The lamp is that multicolored thing in the left corner of the room. It's kinda hard to tell with that picture.
Oh, and Bruce Lee was awesome. Who else drinks the blood of cows in a milkshake?
Gen_Warbuff:
It's pretty cool. Some movies actually make our friends have motion sickness because they're not used to watching such a gigantic screen up close.
I played Call of Duty 4 on it for about two weeks, and Resistance: Fall of Man before that. It makes the experience SO much more intense.
johnnyv2003:
It's actually quite stable. Plus that's the only place I can put it and still be able to hook up my ethernet cable to play GTAIV online.
Thanks! I think the projector makes it pretty unique.

Dude, you don't have to be rich and famous to have a setup like this. All in all, this whole setup is maybe worth $1000. Deliver some pizzas and you could have the same thing in like, three months.
